The Electrical & Power team emerged Champions in the 15th Ispat Synergy Cricket Championship- 2025, an employee engagement initiative of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). The defending champion Electrical & Power team beat the SMS-II team by 5 wickets in the final match played on 25th February, 2025 at Ispat Stadium. Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge, RSP was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony of the event and handed over the trophies to the winner and runners-up teams. Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR), Mr. BR Palai, ED (Works), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. MP Singh, ED (Mines), Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects), Dr. JK Acharya, CMO In-Charge (M&HS) many CGMs and other Officers and employees of RSP were present on the occasion.
Mr. Alok Verma congratulated the winners as well as all the participating teams for showcasing best sportsmanship and team spirit. He also applauded the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship that the players have showed throughout the tournament.
The SMS-II team won the toss in the final match and elected to bat. They scored 111 runs losing 6 wickets in stipulated 15 overs. The Electrical & Power team chased the target in 14.4 overs. Mr. Manoj Sahoo, of Electrical and Power was adjudged the man of the final match for scoring 44 runs. Mr. Satya Rath and Mr. Prashant Mohanty were the umpires in the final match. Mr. Prafulla Sahoo of E&P team won the Best Batter award while Mr. Ramakanta Das, from E&P team bagged the Best Bowler award.
The dignitaries also awarded the Match Officials, Man of the Match winners of all 16 matches, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, and individual prizes to the members of winning and the runners up team.
Mr. P K Swain, CGM In-Charge (TA&CSR) delivered the welcome address while Mr. Mr. Raghu Nandan Padhy, Deputy Manager (Sports) proposed a formal vote of thanks.
The mega annual event concluded with the lowering of the Sports Flag and declaration of the closure of the Championship by the DIC. Mr. Anil Mallick and Mr. Chhayakanta Tripathy were the masters of the ceremony. Mr. Raghu Nandan Padhy, coordinated all the matches of the tournament under the guidance of Mr. T G Kanekar GM In-Charge (Town Services & Sports).
