विश्व पर्यटन दिवस के अवसर पर बोधगया स्थित 80 फीट बुद्ध प्रतिमा से महाबोधि मंदिर तक हेरिटेज वॉक का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें बड़ी संख्या में होटल, टूर ऑपरेटर, गाइड एसोसिएशन के सदस्यों एवं विद्यार्थियों ने भाग लिया। कार्यक्रम में बोधगया टेंपल मैनेजमेंट कमेटी के मेंबर सेक्रेटरी डॉ. श्वेता महारथी एवं किरण लामा भी शामिल हुए। इसके अलावा विश्व पर्यटन दिवस के तहत गया अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डा पर यात्री स्वागत कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया गया। भारत पर्यटन के अधिकारियों ने मौके पर आने वाले पर्यटकों का स्वागत गुलाब का फूल एवं चॉकलेट्स देकर किया।

भारत पर्यटन की ओर से गुरुवार को महाबोधि मंदिर परिसर में स्वच्छता कार्यक्रम का भी आयोजन किया, जिसमें मंदिर के आसपास सफाई की गई। साथ ही वृक्षारोपण कार्यक्रम का आयोजन भी विष्णुपद मंदिर में किया गया जिसमें करीब 100 पौधे मंदिर परिसर में लगाए गए। दूसरी ओर नालंदा महाविहार और विक्रमशिला मठ में भी हेरिटेज वॉक का आयोजन किया गया जिसमें बड़ी संख्या में होटल संचालकों, टूर ऑपरेटर्स, गाइड्स एवं स्कूली बच्चों ने भाग लिया और पर्यटन के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाने में योगदान दिया। इन कार्यक्रमों के दौरान बड़ी संख्या में लोगों ने ‘ट्रेवल फॉर लाइफ’ थीम के अंतर्गत शपथ भी ली। कार्यक्रम का संचालन भारत पर्यटन पटना के निदेशक वाई नीलकंठम ने किया।
