Bengaluru,06th October 2025: Fortune, India’s leading staples brand and part of AWL Agri Business Ltd (formerly Adani Wilmar Ltd), unveiled its latest campaign today with a new TVC spotlighting Fortune Rice Bran Health Oil (FRBH). The film, which is centred on a simple but powerful message — ‘Swipe Away Bad Cholesterol’, opens in a luxury residential society, where a group in men in padded yellow bodysuits, depicting ‘bad cholesterol’ in a funny way, are seen.

When confronted by the building’s security guard and curious residents, the two simply smile and say, “Arre, Sunday hai… Kapoor ji ke yahan hi jaa rahe hain.” The scene then shifts to them confidently trying to enter the apartment, where the lady of the house stops them at the door. Uninvited yet determined, they point towards her husband relaxing on the sofa after a heavy weekend feast — clearly suggesting that such indulgence is exactly what brings them over. Sensing the danger, the woman firmly blocks their way and refuses to let them step inside.

The TVC then goes on to highlight the goodness of cooking food with Fortune Rice Bran Health Oil. According to research, rice bran oil naturally contains oryzanol and unsaturated fats, which are associated with supporting healthier cholesterol balance among edible oils (IMARC Group Report).

Talking about the new campaign, Mukesh Mishra, Joint President, Sales & Marketing, AWL Agri Business Limited, said, “As a brand present in millions of kitchens, our aim is to tell everyday stories with a relatable touch. Today, more and more Indian consumers are suffering from High Cholesterols- more than 25% of Adult Indians have high cholesterols. We believe food is love, and how we cook reflects what we care for. With this campaign launching on World Heart Day, we wanted to spark conversations on the small choices that make a big difference, starting with what we cook in- this can help change our and our Loved one’s health and ensure a healthier future.”

As a part of the campaign, Fortune also planned local activations, starting with Mumbai, to create curiosity amongst consumers and bring awareness about the Bad cholesterol. Done in high footfall locations like Juhu Beach, Bandra station, Near Andheri Metro, Lokhandwala amongst others, Fortune Ricebran health Oil had humorously had few of these cholesterol guys connecting with people, showing how they will join them with their indulgent meals or fast food orders etc. And when a Fortune Ricebran Oil mascot enters the scene, they scatter away in fear- showing how Bad cholesterol runs away when Fortune Ricebran Health oil comes. They were also later showing protesting against Fortune Ricebran Oil, humoursly highlighting that their life has been a struggle with more people adapting Fortune Ricebran Oil in their homes.

Fortune Rice Bran Oil, with this impactful campaign and TVC, strengthens its position as a trusted partner in millions of kitchens, advocating for smarter cooking habits and healthier hearts with lower cholesterol for the modern Indian consumers.

Bengaluru, September 29th, 2025 – On the occasion of World Heart Day 2025, Neuberg Diagnostics has released new insights highlighting the growing cardiometabolic risk among India’s younger population. India currently accounts for nearly one-fifth of global cardiovascular disease (CVD)–related deaths, with national studies estimating a pooled prevalence of around 11% among young Indians. Two major drivers of this crisis are diabetes and dyslipidemia (abnormal cholesterol levels).

Over the past year, Neuberg Laboratories analyzed more than 12.5 lakh samples for HbA1c (diabetes marker) and lipid profile testing from 7 Indian states (Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Kerala). The data reflects customers attending annual health checkups at the lab and may not be representative of the broader population. Within this dataset, 2.2 lakh individuals were aged between 25–35 years. The findings are alarming:

13% were already diabetic

25% were in the pre-diabetes range

28% had abnormally high total cholesterol

A regional breakdown further revealed that diabetes incidence was higher in the South and West (14%) compared to the North (9%), indicating geographic disparities in metabolic health risk. The data was analyzed by Dr. Prajwal A MD, Head of Department, Biochemistry, Neuberg Diagnostics along with the data science team.

“These findings are a wake-up call. The fact that one in eight young adults we tested is already diabetic, and one in four is in the pre-diabetes stage, underscores the silent but fast-moving epidemic of lifestyle diseases in India. Early screening, dietary and lifestyle interventions, and timely clinical care are no longer optional, they are essential to protect the health of our youth and reduce the burden of premature heart disease,” said Dr. Sujay Prasad, Medical Director, Neuberg Diagnostics.

“Preventive health checks are the first line of defense against heart disease. They help uncover risks that would otherwise remain hidden until it’s too late. For India’s youth, this is the most powerful step they can take today to secure a healthier tomorrow,” added Dr. Sujay Prasad.

The theme of World Heart Day 2025 – “Use Heart, Know Heart” – emphasizes the importance of knowing your heart health status before symptoms appear. Preventive health checks are vital because conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, and hypertension often progress silently, causing damage to the heart and blood vessels without early warning signs. Regular screening helps detect risks such as prediabetes or elevated cholesterol at an early stage, when lifestyle changes and timely interventions can reverse or effectively manage them. Neuberg’s data further highlights that even among the 25–35 age groups, a significant proportion already carry hidden risk factors, reinforcing that heart checks are not limited to older adults. Ultimately, knowing your health numbers – whether it is HbA1c, cholesterol, or blood pressure empowers individuals to take informed steps towards healthier choices and long-term heart protection.

As we mark World Heart Day 2025, Neuberg Diagnostics urges individuals, healthcare providers, and policymakers to prioritize preventive heart health strategies for the younger generation.

~ Heart-shaped traffic lights; QR codes for CPR training ~

New Delhi, 26thSeptember 2024: In a major step towards building a heart-healthy city, Manipal Hospitals, among the top healthcare service providers of India, introduced its Hridoye Jurey Kolkata initiative today. The event was organized as a prelude to the World Heart Day, observed globally every year on September 29th. The engaging sessions included leading cardiac specialists from all units of Manipal Hospitals in Kolkata, who shared their varied experiences in cardiovascular health and innovative surgeries that are transforming medical discourse around patient outcomes.

The event was attended by Chief Guest, Mr. Barun Chanda, prominent actor and author. It also witnessed experts in cardiology, including Dr Prakash Kumar Hazra, Director & HoD, Cardiology, Manipal Hospitals, Dhakuria, Dr Rabin Chakraborty, Senior Vice Chairman & Head of Cardiology, Medica Superspecialty Hospital (a part of Manipal Hospitals), and Dr Kunal Sarkar, Senior Vice Chairman & Head of Cardiac Surgery, Medica Superspecialty Hospital (a part of Manipal Hospitals), along with Mr Ayanabh DebGupta, Regional COO, Manipal Hospitals (East), addressed the noble healthcare initiative.

The event also saw the launch of two groundbreaking awareness initiatives. ‘One Scan Can Save a Life’, in which boards with a QR code will be fixed at traffic signals. By scanning the code, citizens can get instant access to MARS (Manipal Ambulance Response Service), promoting both 24×7 Emergency Service, along with informative video tutorials on learning how to administer CPR (cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Procedure). As part of the initiative, traffic lights across the jurisdiction of Bidhan Nagar Police Commissionerate will be displaying heart-shapes, instead of the usual round shape, from 25th September night till 30th September, at important crossroads. The unique traffic signals are expected to constantly instill awareness of heart health amongst the people of Kolkata.

The ‘Hridoye Jurey Kolkata’ campaign aims to ensure at least 3 percent of Indians know how to administer CPR. Manipal Hospitals conducted an extensive CPR training program for community members, including Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), school students, staff and principals, security guards, police personnel, HR heads, and corporate employees. The initiative, called ‘Heart Smart Kolkata’ aims to develop a database of people trained in CPR all over the city.

This was followed by two panel discussions — Heart Problems in Women, and Cardiac Surgery: Myths Vs Facts — where top cardiologists and cardiac surgeons from Manipal Hospitals provided valuable insights.

Mr. Ayanabh Debgupta, Regional Chief Operating Officer, Manipal Hospitals East, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “Hridoye Jurey Kolkata aims to build communities of heroes and survivors by improving action and response to cardiac arrest through training, preparation and response protocols. We intend to create a heart safe community through training citizens in CPR and we are actively taking this initiative across all Manipal group hospitals in the East. We want the message to be spread across schools, colleges, corporates, clubs and all other associations so that those who are trained in CPR can train their near and dear ones. This way we can create a huge pool of CPR trained resources around us, which will help us to save many a lives.”

Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Senior Vice Chairman & Head of Cardiac Surgery, Medica Superspecialty Hospital (a part of Manipal Hospitals), further highlighted Manipal Hospitals’ commitment to the initiative, stating, “At Manipal Hospitals, our vision is to revolutionize the cardiac care system of Kolkata while offering the best and latest treatments.”

“Cardiovascular diseases are ranked as the leading causes of death, affecting one-third of all global deaths; it therefore becomes crucial to address prevention, early intervention, and effective management of these conditions. ‘Hridoye Jurey Kolkata’ is a proof of our commitment to make the city a heart smart one. Another significant achievement of our work includes the swift solution to the method of using a Quick Response Code (QR) to access emergency assistance or a CPR demonstration and the reminder through the heart-shaped traffic signs that make the community aware of cardiovascular diseases. We seek to make a lasting change and create a force of people capable of making life-saving CPR actions that can cover minimum 3% population of India. As a team, we are hopeful to action against premature mortality and provide efficient care for heart health risks for the populace of Kolkata,” Dr Sarkar added.

Dr. Rabin Chakraborty, Senior Vice Chairman & Head of Cardiology, Medica Superspecialty Hospital (a part of Manipal Hospitals), commented, “The rising incidences of cardiovascular diseases especially among patients between 25-40 years is a matter of grave concern. The percentage of heart attacks before the age of 50 has gone up to 50% over last decade. More than 25% suffer heart attacks before their 40th birthday. Even women are succumbing to heart failures at a much younger age. As per research by the American Heart Association, in the last decade, there has been a 20% increase in heart attacks in women under 55. Keeping these critical factors in mind, as doctors, we feel there is a need to focus on preventive measures, early diagnosis, and timely treatment. The ‘Hridoye Jurey Kolkata’ initiative by Manipal Hospitals is a timely initiative in making Kolkata a heart-healthy city. We need to educate the community, society at large and change specific behaviors for prevention of heart diseases, improving the health of individuals.”

Dr. Prakash Kumar Hazra, Director & HoD, Cardiology, Manipal Hospitals, Dhakuria, said, “This initiative that we have taken up this World Heart Day, will make people of Kolkata more aware about their heart health. Moreover, training common people in CPR techniques is not only unique, it is also crucial. Knowing CPR can help save thousands of lives because even the basic effort to resuscitate the heart till a heart attack patient is brought to a hospital can help. This World Heart Day we have also taken the pledge of ‘Mission 2 to 3’ meaning that while two percent Indians already know CPR, we want to train the general public and take up the percentage to three, so that more and more people are encouraged to learn this technique.”

During the panel discussions important facets were highlighted by the doctors (refer to annexure below) and the specialists exchanged views and presented various aspects regarding cardiac health, liberal medical preventative measures, and contemporary trends in cardiac treatment.

According to World Heart Federation, 1 in 3 deaths across the globe are caused by cardiovascular diseases, and majority of premature heart disease and stroke are preventable and treatable, if the patient is brought to a hospital within the golden hour. With this heart smart program being run in Kolkata, Manipal Hospitals is confident that there will be an improvement in the heart health status of every Kolkatan.

World Heart Day: Understanding the Different Heart Health Specialists You May Need to See

(by St. George’s University)

Cardiologists are doctors who work with the heart and blood vessels. They diagnose, treat, and work to prevent diseases of the heart, such as coronary artery disease, heart rhythm abnormalities, congenital heart disease, and more. They also act as consultants to other physicians.

In recognition of World Heart Day, St. George’s University (SGU) Grenada, in the Caribbean, provides an overview of what a cardiologist is and the different specialties within cardiology.

Given how widespread heart disease is today, cardiologists are needed more than ever. The World Heart Federation reveals that cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the Middle East and North Africa region and is responsible for more than one-third of all deaths, approximately 1.4 million people, every year.

Most patients see a cardiologist when they are referred by their general practitioner. They may be experiencing shortness of breath, heart murmurs, electrocardiogram (ECG) changes, or chest pain. A cardiologist can then examine these symptoms to diagnose a condition and create an effective treatment or management plan.

Cardiologists are also involved in more serious cases. Their expertise is needed for surgeries performed on the organs in the chest. Cardiologists work in both outpatient settings and hospitals. When they see a patient, they typically perform a physical exam. They may also order some tests, such as ECGs, X-rays, or blood work.

Different types of cardiologists

Cardiology is a subspecialty of internal medicine and in 2023, SGU placed over 350 graduates into US internal medicine residencies*. But cardiology itself also has a number of subspecialties of its own. The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) offers certification in these areas:

Advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology: Doctors who practice this cardiovascular subspecialty manage advanced heart failure cases and transplant patients. These cardiologists perform surgical procedures and act as consultants for other physicians managing patients with significant heart failure.

Adult congenital heart disease: Doctors who focus on adult congenital heart disease work with patients who have one or more defects in their heart or blood vessel structures. They often need to coordinate with numerous other providers to provide long-term care.

Clinical cardiac electrophysiology: Physicians who subspecialize in clinical cardiac electrophysiology focus on managing complex heart rhythm disorders. These specialists perform both noninvasive and invasive diagnostic procedures. They prescribe medication, implant electrical devices, and leverage other international techniques.

Interventional cardiology: Interventional cardiology involves specialized imaging and diagnostic techniques to evaluate different areas of the cardiovascular system. Many of these procedures are performed using a catheter.

Advanced cardiovascular imaging: Cardiologists who specialize in advanced imaging have extensive training in Advanced Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Cardiovascular Computed Tomographic (CCT).

It’s clear that this essential role involves everything from disease prevention to managing complex conditions. If heart disease does run in your family, make sure to discuss it with your general practitioner. They may end up referring you to a cardiologist if cardiovascular problems become an issue.

* As the medical school graduating the largest number of students per year, SGU places the largest number of graduates into residency programs each year, based on internal SGU graduate/expected graduate and residency placement data as of June 2023.

About St. George’s University School of Medicine:

Founded in 1976 with the goal of drawing the best talent and practices from around the world, St. George’s University (SGU) has become a leading center for academic excellence worldwide. With students and faculty drawn from more than 150 countries, SGU is truly an international institution, with a uniquely global perspective, perfectly poised to help educate students in this rapidly changing world. The SGU School of Medicine has a four-year Doctor of Medicine degree program or offers five-, six-, and seven-year pathways to its Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree program with entry points available for students from any education system around the world. SGU has a large network of 75+ affiliated hospitals and health centers in the US and UK and has a unique opportunity for students to begin their medical career in Grenada or the UK.

In observance of World Heart Day, Reliance General Insurance conducted a survey on the trends and patterns of cardiac procedures in India. The survey focused on Coronary Angiography (CAG) procedures, which are used to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease. The survey analyzed the data of CAG procedures performed in the age bands of 19-35 and 36-45 from 2018 to 2023.

The survey revealed some interesting and alarming findings. The data showed that the number of CAG procedures increased significantly in both age bands over the five-year period. The total number of CAG procedures in the age band of 19-35 increased by 160.87% from 2018-2019 to 2022-2023. Similarly, the total number of CAG procedures in the age band of 36-45 increased by 102.99% from 2018-2019 to 2022-2023.

The survey also showed that there was a gender disparity in the CAG procedures. The data indicated that males were more likely to undergo CAG procedures than females in both age bands. In the age band of 19-35, males accounted for 73.91% of the total CAG procedures in 2018-2019 and 78.33% in 2022-2023. In the age band of 36-45, males accounted for 67.16% of the total CAG procedures in 2018-2019 and 81.62% in 2022-2023.

The survey of Reliance General Insurance is consistent with the findings of the recent World Health Organization report on Invisible numbers: The true extent of noncommunicable diseases and what to do about them. The WHO report highlights the global burden of cardiovascular diseases, which holds the front position in leading global death by 68.1% (17.9 million approx.)

The report shows Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the cause of more deaths globally than any other non-communicable diseases. Factually, 86% of CVD deaths could have been prevented or delayed by eliminating risks through treatment. The RGI survey confirms that India is facing a serious challenge of cardiovascular defects like coronary artery disease, The survey shows that the number of CAG (Coronary Angiogram) procedures which are used to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease, increased significantly in both age bands of 19-35 and 36-45 from 2018 to 2023.

These trends indicate that coronary artery disease is affecting the young and productive population of India, which has implications for the social and economic development of the country.

The RGI survey also supports the recommendations of the WHO report, which suggests that factors such as stress, lifestyle, diet, smoking, and genetics could contribute to the increasing incidence of cardiac problems in these age groups. The survey urges people to adopt healthy habits such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, quitting smoking, and managing stress to reduce the risk of heart disease.

The RGI survey and the WHO report both emphasize the need for more awareness and prevention of coronary artery disease among the young and middle-aged population in India. They also call for more investment and action from the government, the health sector, civil society, and the private sector to address this growing public health issue.
