New Delhi, 15th January,2026: Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a leading power utility supplying electricity to a populace of around 9 million in North Delhi, has obtained the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum Certification under the LEED v4.1 EBOM (Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance) Rating System for six additional existing office buildings, including the Learning & Development Centre (CENPEID), Rani Bagh Protection Office and four key district offices. These buildings have fulfilled the requirements of the LEED Green Building Rating System, established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by Green Business Certification Inc.

LEED Platinum is the highest rating awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council & Green Business Certification Inc. (USGBC/GBCL) and recognizes excellence in energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable practices, and indoor environmental quality, and innovation in design.

With this, Tata Power-DDL’s 10 existing buildings have received LEED Platinum Certification so far. This milestone adds to Tata Power-DDL’s earlier success in 2022, when four major offices, including the Corporate office, received the same recognition.

The certification was granted after a rigorous evaluation of Tata Power-DDL’s green building practices, which include energy-efficient LED lighting and HVAC systems, optimized use of natural resources and water conservation measures, and enhanced indoor environmental quality and occupant comfort. The operations and maintenance of these offices of the discom were evaluated on key sustainability metrics such as energy savings, water conservation, and carbon footprint, and were found to be in compliance with global standards.

Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Dwijadas Basak, CEO, Tata Power-DDL, said:
“We are committed to building a sustainable future and reducing our carbon footprint through innovative practices and responsible operations. Achieving LEED Platinum for 10 of our offices reflects our dedication to environmental stewardship and aligns with Tata Power’s long term sustainability goals. This milestone is a testament to the hard work and collaboration of our teams across functions.”

This latest achievement further cements Tata Power-DDL’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its environmental impact.

Surat: The bugle for Prime Minister Modi’s ambitious “Catch the Rain” campaign, aimed at water conservation through public participation, was sounded from Surat on Sunday, marking the beginning of a nationwide movement.

Traders, industrialists and community leaders from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Bihar, who have made Surat their ‘Karmabhoomi’ were encouraged to participate in water conservation activities in their native states and inspire fellow countrymen to step up efforts such as bore recharge, well recharge and rainwater harvesting.

In his address, Union Minister of Jal Shakti, CR Patil, recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the “Catch the Rain” project in 2021 with the vision of capturing every drop of rainwater. He noted that the campaign had provided the country with a new direction in water conservation. He further said the launch of the water conservation public participation initiative in Surat exemplifies the government’s approach of ‘Whole of Government, Whole of Society’, working with the entire community and government.

Praising traders and business leaders for their commitment to their homeland while living in their ‘Karmabhoomi’ Surat, Patil emphasized the need for increased public participation in government-led water conservation initiatives saying greater involvement from the people would help raise groundwater levels.

“More than 80,000 rainwater harvesting projects and recharge structures have been committed across the state, and the target is to establish over 2,00,000 such structures with the collaboration of industries, NGOs and the government” Patil said. He expressed confidence that this would be achieved with public support.

During the event, prominent community members and traders from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar, along with the Chief Ministers and the Union Minister, collectively pledged their commitment to the campaign by offering water in a ceremonial copper vessel.
