AAI Annual Day: Naidu Highlights Role in Expanding Air Connectivity

NEW DELHI. Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu attended the 31st Annual Day celebrations of the Airports Authority of India, along with MoCA Secretary Shri Samir Kumar Sinha, AAI Chairman Shri Vipin Kumar and senior officials. He highlighted AAI’s key role in advancing the UDAN scheme and improving air connectivity across the country, stating that airports reflect India’s global image through modern infrastructure rooted in local heritage. The Minister also noted passenger-friendly initiatives such as UDAN Yatri Café, Flybrary, free Wi-Fi and Kids Zones, and congratulated AAI staff for their contribution towards making the organization a world-class airport developer and operator.

AAI a pre-feasibility study of five new greenfield airports.

NEW DELHI. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Assam in Dispur for conducting a pre-feasibility study of five new greenfield airports. The MoU signing ceremony was graced by the Chief Minister of Assam, Sh. Himanta Biswa Sarma ji. The MoU was signed in the presence of Secretary, MoCA, Sh. Samir Kumar Sinha, and Chairman, AAI, Sh. Vipin Kumar, IAS, along with senior officials from the Centre and the State.

The proposed airport sites include the Manas National Park region, Umrangshu, Majuli, Diphu and Charaideo. This forward-looking initiative aims to significantly strengthen regional air connectivity, accelerate tourism and economic growth, expand commercial opportunities, and further reinforce Assam’s strategic position as the gateway to the Northeast.
