Addressing the gathering, the CMD underscored that integrity should not remain confined to official responsibilities but must also guide individual conduct in everyday life. He stressed that transparency, accountability and ethical decision-making were essential for strengthening institutional credibility and public trust.

Earlier, Smt Deepti Patel, Chief Vigilance Officer briefed the gathering on various initiatives undertaken by ECL as part of its vigilance awareness campaign, which commenced on August 17, 2026. She outlined the activities conducted to sensitise employees and strengthen preventive vigilance across the company.
On the occasion, the CMD also read out the message of the President of India, while Director (Finance) Shri Mohd. Anzar Alam read out the Prime Minister’s message and Director (HR) Gunjan Kumar Sinha read out the message of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).

The Functional Directors also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of individual responsibility and collective efforts in fostering a culture of honesty and vigilance across the organisation.
The occasion also marked the release of ‘Sachetna’, ECL’s vigilance magazine, by the CMD, Functional Directors and CVO. A Vigilance Compendium and a booklet on Dos and Don’ts, intended to serve as ready references for employees on procedural compliance and ethical conduct, was also released during the event.

To reinforce preventive vigilance, a special awareness session on ‘Probity for Prosperity’ was chaired by Shri Ashok Tiwari, IPS, Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, alongside senior state police and anti-corruption officials. SJVN is also hosting a comprehensive series of internal and outreach initiatives throughout the week—including capacity-building workshops, vendor meets, walkathons, Nukkad Nataks, and competitive events such as declamation, debates, poster-making, and rangoli competitions—to engage employees, students, and local communities in fostering an ethical work culture.

Presiding over the ceremony, Director (HR) Shri Samir Swarup emphasized that probity is an essential driver of sustainable corporate growth and public trust. Delivering the Keynote Address, CVO Thiru Appakannu Govindarajan (IPoS) highlighted the importance of preventive vigilance, digital governance, and resolving operational bottlenecks in contract management. He also cautioned young students against the risks of social media deepfakes, urging them to practice digital hygiene and uphold strong moral values.

The CMD, SAIL, along with the Director (Personnel), Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials), and CVO, SAIL, felicitated the winners of multiple competitions organized as part of the observance.

On the occasion, two e-books and one in-house magazine — Anubhuti: Compendium of Case Studies and Prayas: Systemic Improvements & Inspiration — were launched, reflecting SAIL’s continued commitment to transparency, integrity, and continual improvement.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Misra said, “We should be vigilant enough in our conduct so that a separate vigilance department is not required to correct us.” He added that schools are the foundation of integrity and encouraged students never to hesitate in asking questions.

“Students are the young minds who will shape our future,” stressed Mr. Palai. He emphasized that integrity, transparency, and openness must be practiced by all, adding that vigilance is not the responsibility of one department but of everyone. He also focussed on the importance of Preventive Vigilance.

Mr. Anil Kumar, observed that vigilance is not confined to a week but is a continuous process that must be followed throughout the year. He appreciated the Vigilance Department for its consistent efforts in spreading awareness across the organization.

Mr. M. P. Singh emphasized that honesty and integrity form the foundation of a strong nation  and urged everyone to contribute towards making India a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Mr. B. K. Giri highlighted the need to safeguard public assets, stating that such collective responsibility will help build a stronger and more prosperous nation.

Mr. S. Pal Chowdhury, stated that vigilance is a model that guides every organization and a way of life that begins with self. He added that each one of us is a custodian of integrity and noted that the Digital Project Management System in RSP is a significant step towards strengthening vigilance and transparency.

The dignitaries presented the prizes to the award winners of various competitions held during the Vigilance Awareness Week 2025.

At the outset, Mr. Bharti welcomed the gathering and elaborated on the various inbound and outreach programmes being organised by the vigilance department during the Vigilance Awareness Week. A short video on the various activities carried out during the week, 2^nd series of the podcast ‘The Vigilant Mind’, the theme song video and a glimpse of the video film of the Nukkad Natak organised in peripheral schools were also screened during the event. Ms. Megha, a Class X student of DPS, Rourkela, and Ms. Trupti, a Class XII student of DAV Public School, Bolani delivered powerful speeches on the importance of a culture of integrity.

Mr. Abani Biswal, AGM (Vigilance) proposed a formal Vote of Thanks and Ms. Kavita Bisoyi, Senior Manager (CCW) co-ordinated the function.
