PFC Observes Vigilance Awareness Week 2024

New Delhi– PFC observed “Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 ” from October 28 to November 3, 2024, emphasising its operations’ core values of integrity, transparency, and accountability. The week commenced with Smt. Parminder Chopra, CMD, Smt. Simmi R Nakra, CVO, and PFC Directors administering the Integrity Pledge to officials, reinforcing their collective commitment to these principles.

As part of the week’s activities, renowned behavioural scientist Dr Naresh Kumar Rai conducted a workshop on “Ethics & Governance.” The session focused on ethical governance practices, with Smt. Simmi Nakra emphasising the importance of ethical conduct and vigilance in PFC’s operations. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation, reflecting PFC’s dedication to fostering a culture of accountability. In a symbolic gesture of environmental stewardship, Smt. Parminder Chopra, CMD, Smt. Simmi R Nakra, CVO, and PFC Directors planted trees, signifying their commitment to integrity and care for the planet. Each tree serves as a reminder of the vigilance and accountability that guide the organisation’s actions.

The Valedictory and Prize Distribution Ceremony, held on November 1st, marked the culmination of the week’s events. Dr. Tripta Thakur, Director General of NPTI Faridabad, presided over the ceremony alongside PFC leadership. During the event, PFC launched several online portals, including the Vendors Grievance Redressal Portal and the Employee Grievance Redressal Portal, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and effective communication. Employees actively participated in a quiz on vigilance topics, and the Handbook on Vigilance was unveiled. Certificates were awarded to winners of various competitions and contributors to the PRAHARI magazine.

“Our credibility as a fair, transparent, and dependable organization is a key to build long-term relationships with customers and stakeholders,” said Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in his keynote address during the concluding ceremony of the Vigilance Awareness Week – 2024 at Gopabandhu Auditorium of RSP on 2^nd November, 2024. Hon’ble Justice Anil Kumar Choudhary, Judge, High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi was the Guest Speaker of the event. Mr. Subrat Praharaj, CGM (Vigilance) & ACVO was also present on the dais. CGMs, and other senior officials of RSP were also present in the occasion.

Speaking further Mr. Bhowmick said, “As a public sector entity, RSP holds a unique responsibility and accountability that calls for fairness and equity in all that we do. A workplace culture that emphasizes zero tolerance for corruption enhances the pride of every employee, strengthening our collective commitment to ethical practices.” He also congratulated the Vigilance Department of RSP for organizing a wide range of meaningful programs during Week especially involving students. “These experiences will help them develop a strong mental compass, enabling them to make ethical choices, even in challenging situations,” he added.

Justice Anil Choudhary, in his speech, said, elaborated about the theme of this year’s Vigilance Awareness Week i.e ‘Culture of Integrity for Nation’s prosperity. “When organisations and citizens imbibe the culture of ethics and integrity, it brings a sense of commitment and belongingness,” he said. Elaborating about the values espoused by Sardar Vallabhai Patel whose Birth Anniversary celebrations are marked by observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, he said that his legacy of honesty and integrity in governance continues to inspire us.

The DIC presented the prizes to the award winners of various competitions held during the Vigilance Awareness Week 2024.

At the outset, Mr. Praharaj welcomed the gathering and elaborated on the various inbound and outreach programmes being organised by the vigilance department during the Vigilance Awareness Week. A short video on the various activities and a video film of the Nukkad Natak organised in peripheral schools were also screened during the event. Ms. Swayamshree Mohapatra, a Class X student of DAV Public School, Rourkela, delivered a powerful speech on the importance of a culture of integrity.

Mr. M K Agarwal, GM (Vigilance) proposed a formal Vote of Thanks and Ms. Kavita Bisoyi, Senior Manager (SMS-II) co-ordinated the function.

BPCL inaugurates Vigilance Awareness Week 2024

Bengaluru, 30^th October 2024: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a prestigious ‘Maharatna’ and Fortune Global 500 Company, inaugurated Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 (VAW-2024) on 28^th October at its Corporate Office, reinforcing its commitment to ethical practices and integrity in business. The event, themed “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity,” is being observed from October 28 to November 3 across BPCL’s operations nationwide, with a series of activities designed to raise awareness and foster vigilance among all employees.

The inaugural ceremony was led by Chief Guest Shri Dinesh Kumar Jain, Ex-Chief Secretary of Maharashtra and Ex-Member Lokpal, who joined BPCL leadership including Smt. Meenaxi Rawat, IES, Chief Vigilance Officer; Shri V.R.K. Gupta, Director (Finance); Shri Raj Kumar Dubey, Director (HR); Shri S. Srikanth, Chief General Manager (Vigilance), and other senior officials. In a symbolic moment, Smt. Meenaxi Rawat administered the Integrity Pledge, uniting BPCL officials across India through a live webcast to affirm their dedication to honesty and transparency.

In a message to employees, Shri G. Krishnakumar, Chairman and Managing Director, BPCL highlighted Bharat Petroleum’s commitment to ethics, integrity, and accountability, which are fundamental to its operations. He stated that this week serves as a vital reminder of our dedication to fostering a corruption-free workplace. He also lauded Smt Meenaxi Rawat and her vigilance team, for their ongoing dedication to promoting the values of ethics and integrity.

In her address, Smt. Meenaxi Rawat highlighted India’s ranking in the Corruption Perception Index, emphasizing the need for continuous improvement in ethical practices. She reffered Ethisphere’s annual rankings, which reveal that ethical companies often outperform the market, a testament to BPCL’s core values of Ethics and Trust. BPCL’s commitment to transparency was evident in the recent integration of all policies and guidelines on a centralized intranet webpage, streamlining access across all business units. Citing the success of the Public Grievance Portal, Smt. Rawat emphasized the importance of a robust complaint-handling system, adding that vigilance is not only a function of vigilance officers but a shared responsibility across BPCL’s workforce.

Chief Guest Shri Dinesh Kumar Jain, in his keynote, elaborated on the foundational values of honesty and integrity. Sharing an anecdote from Sweden involving a Member of Parliament meticulously distinguishing between personal and official expenses, Shri Jain illustrated how simple acts of accountability reinforce integrity. He outlined the formula for understanding corruption as “Corruption equals Monopoly plus Discretion minus Accountability,” highlighting how the Government of India has tackled corruption with measures like Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and faceless Income Tax assessments. Commending BPCL’s Integrity Clubs in schools, he emphasized the value of instilling ethics in young minds.

To mark the occasion, three significant publications were launched: The Vigilance Officer’s Handbook, Do’s & Don’ts Handbook for Officers, and the Vigilance Newsletter, which are expected to enhance vigilance practices within BPCL.

Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 will continue with a series of events and initiatives, aimed at promoting a strong culture of integrity and vigilance across BPCL’s operations, fostering a resilient, transparent corporate ethos for sustainable growth.

MRPL holds vendors meet 2024

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) hosted a vendors’ meet today at the TMA Pai Convention Centre in Mangalore, attracting over 300 vendors from across the country as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2024. In his keynote address, Managing Director M. Shyamprasad Kamath emphasized MRPL’s pivotal role in meeting India’s energy needs, noting that the company refines 10% of the crude oil processed by Indian PSU refineries and fulfills 60% of Karnataka’s energy demand through petrol, diesel, and LPG. He acknowledged the vital contributions of vendors whose timely and quality services are crucial for MRPL’s capacity to meet the nation’s energy requirements.

The event featured presentations from various speakers, including Satish Satyanarayana, GM (Materials), and Prasanth Sankar Poduval, GGM – Materials, who addressed the importance of Independent External Monitors for transparency in procurement processes. Ganesh S. Bhat, CVO, highlighted key elements of the Integrity Pact, while Nandakumar V. Pillai, Director of Refinery, connected the theme of integrity to insights from the ancient Upanishads. Additionally, Jayank Verma, Assistant Manager (Materials), discussed MRPL’s tendering system and opportunities for vendors, while Devaraj, Joint Director – MSME, Mangalore, shared information on MSME initiatives. The program also included a presentation by Aditya Singh Chauhan, Director of GeM, on the registration process and features of the GeM platform. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Manjunath H.V., GM (Materials), and was compered by Ms. Noopur Kaushik Bhalla, Senior Manager (Materials).

Bank of India Observes Vigilance Awareness Week 2024

Bengaluru, 29 October 2024: Bank of India, a leading public Sector Bank, is observing Vigilance Awareness Week, from 28th October to 3rd November, 2024. This year, ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ is being observed on the theme, ‘सत्यनिष्ठा की संस्कृति से राष्ट्र की समृद्धि’ “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity”.

Shri Rajneesh Karnatak, Managing Director & CEO inaugurated the Vigilance Awareness Week-2024 on 28. 10.2024 by administering the Integrity pledge in Hindi to the executives in the Board Room of the Bank at its Head Office in the presence of Shri P R Rajagopal- Executive Director, Shri Subrat Kumar-Executive Director, Shri Rajiv Mishra – Executive Director and other Senior Executives. Shri Vishnu Kumar Gupta, Chief Vigilance Officer, administered the pledge in English. A booklet on “Case Studies'” and “Vigilance Reference Manual” was also released by the hands of top management.

On this occasion, the staff members of the bank, formed a human chain, in the Head Office premises, conveying message of Vigilance Awareness.

Bank of India is committed to cherished goals of transparency and accountability for its actions to customers, stakeholders and the society at large. As per the directives of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) the Bank will sensitise public about whistleblowing to expose corruption and focus on internal activities during the Vigilance Awareness Week.

Bank will also be organising grievance redressal camps for citizens and customers, apart from holding “Awareness Gram Sabhas” for bringing awareness in Gram Panchayats to sensitise citizens on the ill effects of corruption. Till date more than 5000 such Gram Sabhas have been organised by Bank of India.

Bank’s Vigilance Department along with the field functionaries had organised various

outreach activities like quiz, article writing, Rangoli, and slogan competitions for employees. Various social campaigns too had been rolled out to raise awareness on the issue. To spread awareness and focus on preventive vigilance, Walkathon is organized by Bank of India on 25. 10.2024 at BKC along with Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, BPCL.LIC and other PSBs/ PSUs where more than 1000 staffs participated.

Banners and posters are displayed across different locations to educate both external and internal stakeholders on the significance of the Vigilance Awareness Week.

Vigilance Awareness Week is observed every year during the last week of October in which birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (31st October) falls. This awareness week campaign affirms Bank’s commitment to promotion of integrity and probity in public life through citizen participation.

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) inaugurated Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) 2024 with a spirited walkathon led by Shri R. K.
