Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Visits IREDA Pavilion at Make in Odisha Conclave

Bengaluru, 28^th January 2025 : The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, visited the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) pavilion at the “Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025” in Bhubaneswar today. Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director, IREDA welcomed the Prime Minister and briefed him on the company’s 37-year legacy as India’s largest pure-play green financing NBFC.

During the interaction, Shri Das highlighted IREDA’s pivotal role in advancing renewable energy projects to achieve India’s 500 GW non-fossil fuel installed capacity target by 2030, in line with the country’s Panchamrit and Viksit Bharat 2047 goals.

Shri Modi, accompanied by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi; Hon’ble Governor, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati; and other dignitaries. The pavilion themed “Responsible for Renewables,” showcased IREDA’s innovative approach to sustainable development and its focus on financing clean energy initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, CMD Shri Pradip Kumar Das expressed his gratitude for the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s visit, reaffirming IREDA’s commitment to supporting India’s green energy transition and achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. He emphasized IREDA’s dedication to fostering a self-reliant, sustainable future through robust financial support for renewable energy projects.

Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance) and other IREDA officials were also present.

Vedanta inks MoU worth Rs. 1 Lakh Crore with Govt. of Odisha at Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025

Bengaluru, January 28, 2025: Vedanta Limited, a global leader in natural resources and technology, and a committed partner in Odisha’s progress for more than two decades, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs. 1 lakh crore with the Government of Odisha, on the opening day of Utkarsh Odisha, the state’s global investment conclave organised in Bhubaneswar. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha and Shri Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta Limited. This transformative commitment aims to accelerate Odisha’s industrial growth by establishing world-class aluminium production facilities and promoting sustainable development across the state.

The collaboration includes the development of a 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) aluminium plant and an aluminium park that is poised to emerge as a major hub for downstream producers of aluminium products. Together, the announced initiatives will not only further cement Odisha’s crucial role in the global aluminium value chain, but will also generate 2 lakh employment opportunities and foster MSME growth across sectors like automotive, power, construction, and logistics.

Shri Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta Limited, remarked, “Odisha has always been integral to Vedanta’s growth story, and its resources have played an indelible role in India’s rise. This MoU represents a significant step toward driving large-scale industrialization and socio-economic development in the state, and a reiteration of our commitment to its progress. We are proud to deepen our decades-long collaboration with the Government of Odisha, ensuring sustainable growth, skill development, and a better quality of life for millions in the state.”

Vedanta’s current investments have led to the creation of the world’s largest single-location aluminium smelter at Jharsuguda, in addition to a world-class alumina refinery at Lanjigarh, which have helped make Odisha the Aluminium Hub of India. The company also operates FACOR, among the nation’s leading producers of ferro chrome, at Bhadrak, in addition to a growing mines portfolio across the state. These operations have sparked the accelerated socio-economic progress of their surrounding regions through the company’s focus on creating educational and healthcare facilities, skill development centres, and Nand Ghars (modern Anganwadi centres), ensuring inclusive development for Odisha’s communities.

As the global demand for aluminium is expected to double by 2030, this MoU strengthens Odisha’s position as an industrial and economic powerhouse, contributing significantly to India’s vision of becoming a global manufacturing leader while reaffirming Vedanta’s role as a catalyst in Odisha’s transformation and India’s industrial evolution.

Pavilion of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant at ‘Utkarsh Odisha’-Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 inaugurated

Emphasizing its commitment to sustainability, SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) unveiled its state-of-the-art pavilion based on the theme ‘SAIL Steel, Green Steel’ at the prestigious ‘Utkarsh Odisha’-Make in Odisha Conclave 2025. The conclave was inaugurated by Mr. Narendra Modi, Honourable Prime Minister of India on 28th January, 2025 in the presence of Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Mr. Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha and many esteemed dignitaries. It is noteworthy that the event, Odisha’s flagship global investors’ meet, is being held from January 28 to 30, 2025, in Bhubaneswar.

Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge, RSP inaugurated the company’s visually striking pavilion in the presence of Mr. Sudip PalChowdhury, ED (Projects). The RSP pavilion showcases the company’s legacy, innovation, and association with the state of Odisha. Demonstrating the evolution and growth of RSP, the pavilion incorporates advanced digital technologies in line with this year’s conclave theme. It reaffirms the commitment of the Steel Plant to ESG principles and its firm commitment to produce sustainable Green Steel. A key attraction at the pavilion is the AR/VR-based Digital Walkthrough, which offers visitors an immersive 360-degree experience of RSP’s operations through detailed 3D visualisations. The pavilion also features intricately crafted miniature models of RSP’s diverse product range, indigenously developed at RSP using state-of-the-art 3D printing technology. Each model is accompanied by QR codes, enabling visitors to access comprehensive product information and applications, ensuring an interactive and engaging experience.

The Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 serves as a vital platform to showcase Odisha’s industrial potential and promote global collaborations. Through its impactful presence, SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant reaffirms its pivotal role in driving industrial growth and innovation in Odisha’s industrial ecosystem.
