Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Ltd (The Cottage) marked International Women’s Day celebrations with great enthusiasm on 8th March, 2025 by organizing a special exhibition of exclusive crafts and weaves created by the National & State award winning women artisans from different parts of the country.

Ms. Katyayani Sanjay Bhatia Deputy Commissioner, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance inaugurated the event & interacted with the Women Artisans,in the presence of Shri Manoj lal, Managing Director,Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Ltd., women artisans and employees of CCIC.Appreciating their Crafts, .Ms. Bhatia said that women constitute a sizable portion of the population & today they represent all sectors therefore education , empowerment of women & gender equality, which is also a fundamental right ,is very important to facilitate them to contribute to the socio-economic progress of the country & Family is the primary learning unit where the Gender sensitization should begin.

Adding on Shri Manojlal, MD, CCIC said that women plays an important role in the craft sector also and CCIC is facilitating more than 2000 woman artisans & weavers to earn livelihood by providing a marketing platform to showcase their products. The Cottage is also motivating skilled women artisans towards entrepreneurship, self reliance and increased participation in socio-economic growth of the country.

Ms. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary (Textiles), recently conducted a comprehensive review of “The Cottage” in the presence of key officials, including Shri Manoj Lal, Managing Director of the Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Ltd, and other senior representatives. The visit aimed to evaluate the corporation’s current status, identify challenges, and enhance competition.

Ms. Rao expressed her appreciation for the exclusive crafts on display as she toured various handloom and handicraft sections, witnessing new offerings and designs. Engaging with employees, artisans, and weavers during live demonstrations, she commended “The Cottage” for its consistent efforts to promote crafts and artisans globally through initiatives such as participation in national and international exhibitions, corporate gifting, advertising, social media engagement, exports, and sales promotion drives. These efforts strive to align with new market trends and changing consumer tastes while preserving the core ethnic values of the retailed products.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Manoj Lal, Managing Director,the Central Cottage Industries Corporation Ltd stated that the Secretary ( Textiles ) vision has motivated “the Cottage ” team to excel & achieve greater heights.

In this direction CCIC will take all possible measures to promote the initiative.

With the commencement of the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign 2024’ from 17/09/24 the Central Cottage Industries Corporation Ltd began the observation of various activities across the country. Shri Manoj Lal, Managing Director, the Central Cottage Industries Corporation Ltd planted a sapling under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign. Prior to it on the first day of the Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign 2024, he administered the Swachhta pledge to all the Staff& Officers at the Corporate Office, Jawahar Vyaapar Bhawan,New Delhi to embrace cleanliness as an integral part of their daily lives.

On Independence Day 2024, “The Cottage” joined the nation in celebrating with a series of patriotic activities. Shri Manoj Lal, Managing Director of the Central Cottage Industries Corporation Ltd (CCIC), hoisted the National Flag to honor the nation’s spirit.

The event featured several activities, including the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, a painting competition among employees, and a special initiative titled “एक पेड़ माँ के नाम” (A Tree in Mother’s Name). Employees also participated in a selfie campaign with a cutout of Prime Minister Modi.

During his address, Shri Manoj Lal emphasized the importance of every employee’s contribution towards making CCIC a self-sustaining corporation. The celebrations reflected the corporation’s dedication to the nation and its goals.
