In the last 1 year, Telangana has welcomed more than 140 projects in the Life Sciences sector with a cumulative investment of about Rs. 36,000 Crores that will be creating around 51,000 direct jobs and 150,000 indirect jobs in the state.

Hyderabad, 14 November 2024: In a remarkable testament to Telangana’s growing prominence on the world stage, the state government announced unprecedented progress in the life sciences sector, securing over Rs. 36,000 crores in investments from over 140 projects over the last year. These investments are set to create 51,000 direct jobs and an estimated 1,50,000 indirect jobs, solidifying Telangana’s status as a powerhouse in the global life sciences industry.

Speaking on the state’s achievements, Hon’ble Minister for Industries and Commerce, Shri Duddilla Sridhar Babu, highlighted that Telangana has become a focal point for both international and domestic life sciences companies, with Hyderabad serving as the epicenter for innovation. The minister attributed this rapid growth to the proactive, business-friendly policies championed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the government’s strategic focus on life sciences and healthcare.

Shri Duddilla Sridhar Babu Minister of Industries and Commerce, Government of Telangana said, “We have witnessed a surge of investments from several international and domestic companies, who have chosen Telangana as their gateway to India’s rapidly growing life sciences ecosystem. From pharmaceutical manufacturing and R&D centers to GCC innovation hubs, these investments across the life sciences value chain make Telangana an undisputed leader in this space globally. This momentum not only includes significant investments from new entrants but also additional investments by companies that have already seen the value in expanding in Telangana. This is a strong indicator of their trust in present Government’s business friendly approach that we have championed over the last one year and the strong ecosystem built over the last 2-3 decades.”

He further added, that at the heart of Government strategy lies Genome Valley, India’s first and largest organized R&D cluster, which continues to attract industry leaders and pioneering research organizations. Another area that the Government is excited about is the intersection of life sciences and technology. Hyderabad offers a deep talent pool with expertise in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, AI / ML, data analytics, and digital

This is a result of our efforts to proactively reach-out to these global companies aggressively showcasing Hyderabad as a preferred destination.

We are also happy to share that we will shortly introduce a dedicated life sciences policy, which will further streamline processes, attract investments, foster innovation, and drive sustainable growth across this critical sector.” he said while addressing the media.

This upcoming policy is designed to address the evolving needs of the life sciences industry, ensuring Telangana consolidates its position as an important node in the global life sciences value chain.

Inputs from states and different quarters had been thought of at a gathering of the empowered GoM headed by defence minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday. Options such as odd-even and limits on the variety of individuals in passenger automobiles are mentioned to be on the desk. The listing of exemptions that features actions relating to reap and provide of on a regular basis wants may very well be expanded. Some district administrations have allowed repairmen and caregivers to take care of their duties.

The focus of the containment method to Covid-19 hotspots and excessive-threat areas makes it tough to even think about inter-district motion on any vital scale, depart alone inter-state motion other than classes like cargo which have been allowed.

“There is no question of opening state borders,” a high authorities official mentioned. “Though a proper choice is but to be taken, suggestions thus far means that stress-free restrictions can be vastly dangerous,” he added. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a video message to BJP employees on Monday, had careworn that the battle in opposition to the pandemic can be lengthy drawn, hinting at the potential for the lockdown being prolonged.

Several chief ministers, together with MP’s Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Telangana’s Okay Chandrasekhar Rao have prompt that the lockdown proceed past April 14. Any choice taken can be taken in consultations with states, senior authorities officers mentioned.

IN A Suo-Moto statement Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Minister for Health in Rajya Sabha said a total of 29 positive cases have been reported so far. Of these 3 cases were reported in Kerala earlier, who have since recovered and have been discharged already. Since last 3 days, new travel related cases have tested positive. These include one in Delhi (having travel history of Italy) and Telangana (having travel history from Dubai and contact history from person from Singapore). Both are clinically stable.

Six more cases have tested positive in Agra, Uttar Pradesh having contact history with case in Delhi. Required action as per Cluster Management plan has been initiated. Further, an Italian Tourist & his wife have tested positive in Rajasthan. 14 other accompanying tourists in this group and their Indian bus driver tested positive on their return to Delhi. All of them are reported to be stable. A recent positive case has also been reported in Delhi yesterday (having travel history from Italy) and is stable.

The ever increasing magnitude of this outbreak globally calls for a concerted effort by not only health but all sectors of Government. Honourable Prime Minister is personally monitoring the preparedness and response on a regular basis .Government of India has initiated a series of action to prevent entry of the disease and to contain it. I am daily reviewing the situation. A Group of Ministers consisting of Minister of External Affairs, Minister of Civil Aviation and Minister of State for Home Affairs, Minister of State for Shipping and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare chaired by me have been constituted to monitor the situation.

The Group of Ministers has met four times since its inception on 3rd February, 2020. Cabinet Secretary is taking regular reviews with all related Ministries of Health, Defence, Ministry of External Affairs, Civil Aviation, Home, Textiles, Pharma, Commerce and other officials including with State Chief Secretaries. My own Ministry is constantly reviewing the evolving scenario. Video Conferences are being held with States every other day.

Government of India has also taken several measures to control the risk of novel Corona virus infection spreading to India. Our First Travel Advisory was issued on 17th January 2020 and as situation is evolving, the travel advisories are accordingly getting revised.

Presently it prescribes, All regular (sticker) Visas/e-Visa (including Visa on Arrival for Japan and South Korea) granted to nationals of Italy, Iran, South Korea, Japan and issued on or before 03.03.2020 and who have not yet entered India, stand suspended with immediate effect.

Regular (sticker) visa / e-Visa granted to nationals of Peoples Republic of China, issued on or before 05.02.2020 were suspended earlier. It shall remain in force.

Regular (sticker) visas/e-Visas granted to all foreign nationals who have travelled to Peoples Republic of China, Iran, Italy, South Korea and Japan on or after 01.02.2020, and who have not yet entered India stand suspended with immediate effect.

Diplomats, officials of UN and other International bodies, OCI cardholders and Aircrew from above countries are exempted from such restriction on entry. However, their screening at point of entry is compulsory.

Passengers of all international flights entering into India from any port are required to furnish duly filled self-declaration form (including personal particulars i.e. phone no. and address in India) and travel history, to Health Officials and Immigration officials at all ports.

Indian citizens are advised to refrain from travel to China, Iran, Republic of Korea, Italy & Japan and advised to avoid non-essential travel to other COVID-19 affected countries.
