Bengaluru, December 19, 2025: Tata Steel has been recognised as a Gold Employer by the India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) 2025 for the fifth consecutive year, reaffirming the Company’s unwavering commitment to LGBT+ inclusion and its broader vision of building an equitable workplace for all.

With more than 100 organisations participating in the 6th edition of the IWEI Summit & Awards, Tata Steel’s recognition as a Gold Employer reflects the Company’s continued efforts in embedding diversity and inclusion across its policies, talent systems, leadership practices, and internal and external engagement.

Atrayee Sanyal, Chief People Officer, Tata Steel Group, said, “This recognition reinforces Tata Steel’s position as one of India’s most progressive employers – one that goes beyond compliance to prioritise empathy, equity, and empowerment. We believe a diverse workforce is a strategic enabler of innovation, and we remain committed to ensuring every employee feels seen, heard, and valued.”

Tata Steel deepened its commitment to inclusion through several pioneering milestones, including the launch of the world’s first all-women shift in mining operations at Noamundi; the induction of an all-women firefighting crew in Jamshedpur – a first in the Indian steel sector; and the deployment of women employees across all three shifts in Kalinganagar.

This ensures that caregiving responsibilities are recognised as shared and integral to employee wellbeing. Equally, Tata Steel’s Gender Reassignment Policy enables compassionate and confidential access to gender affirmation support for employees.

Tata Steel’s DE&I journey began a decade ago in 2015 with MOSAIC, driving inclusion across women, LGBTQIA+, affirmative action, and persons with disabilities through five pillars: sensitisation, infrastructure, recruitment, retention & development, and celebrations.

The India Workplace Equality Index is the country’s first comprehensive benchmarking tool designed to measure employers’ progress on LGBT+ inclusion across nine key areas, including policies and benefits, employee lifecycle, leadership, and community engagement.

~ Showcases India’s pathway to sustainable, climate-resilient construction ~

Bengaluru, December 12, 2025: Tata Steel, in partnership with constructsteel – the steel construction market-development programme of the World Steel Association – today inaugurated a pioneering steel-based Zero Energy Building (ZEB) constructed using advanced Light-Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) technology.

T V Narendran, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Steel, inaugurated the 1,836 sq. ft. facility in the presence of Dr Edwin Basson, Director General of the World Steel Association (worldsteel). Built in just 3.5 months, the facility represents a significant step in India’s move towards net-zero, energy-efficient, and climate-resilient infrastructure.

“The steel-based zero energy building reflects the future of construction,” commented T V Narendran. “Our partnership with constructsteel showcases how modern, energy-efficient, and low-carbon solutions can be replicated at scale across India and integrated into mainstream infrastructure.”

The LGSF technology, where precisely manufactured steel sections are assembled like a frame, allows the building to achieve a tight envelope with minimal air leakage, better insulation, and reduced energy loss. Steel makes the structure lighter, faster to build, and highly durable, while its recyclability ensures lower long-term environmental impact.

Designed to produce as much energy as it consumes, the steel-based ZEB combines ultra-low operational energy demand with on-site renewable energy generation, achieving annual net-zero energy use. The building uses high-performance glazing, well-insulated walls & roof panels, and natural ventilation wherever possible. To generate clean power on-site, it uses rooftop solar panels and Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV). The building also includes rainwater harvesting and low-flow fixtures to optimise water consumption.

Tata Steel Board in its meeting today affirmed the long-term growth strategy for India business and considered several options and proposals, some of which is disclosed below. In line with stated objective of pursuing prudent capital allocation and profitable growth, Tata Steel will prioritize investments in the following areas a) investment in the volume growth b) investment in value added downstream portfolio
c) investment in identified mining assets and infrastructure to serve the needs of the India business and d) invest in new to the world low carbon low capital intensity process technologies for sustainable steel making of the future.

1. The Board has accorded in-principle approval for the 4.8 MTPA capacity expansion at Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited. This is Phase 1 of the capacity expansion in NINL and will enable Tata Steel to further expand the long products portfolio especially in the highly profitable retail space and capitalize on the growth of construction sector in India through new products and solutions.

2. As part of further enhancing the finished steel capacity in the flats products, the Board has approved the funds required to undertake the design and engineering work to set up of a 2.5 million tons Thin Slab Caster and Rolling facilities at Tata Steel Meramandali and also progress on seeking all regulatory approvals for the expansion. This will expand the finished steel capacity particularly of thinner gauge products by 2.5 MTPA.

3. Tata Steel has been steadily expanding its downstream facilities across various product lines to serve the needs of its customers. In line with this strategy and following the recent decision to consolidate the holdings in Tata Steel BlueScope Private Limited, Joint Venture in the color coated business for construction, the Board today approved the plan to set up a 0.7 MTPA Hot Rolled Pickling and Galvanizing Line (HRPGL) at its existing Cold Rolling Complex in Tarapur, Maharashtra. This will be ‘first of its kind’ facility in India and will enable Tata Steel to meet the requirements of its automotive customers for import substitution and further consolidate its leadership position in this segment.

4. As Maharashtra aims to grow to a USD 1 trillion economy in the near future and to cater to the growing demand of customers in Western and Southern India, Tata Steel has signed a MoU with Lloyd Metals & Energy Ltd to partner in the areas of iron ore mining, logistics including slurry pipeline, pellet and steel making. Both companies will jointly explore the following opportunities in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, a) operate mining concessions and associated infrastructure, with the objective to increase iron ore production and be a prominent player in this growing region developing as a new iron ore hub of India, b) development of a greenfield 6 million tons steel capacity by Tata Steel in two phases and
c) strategic cooperation in the proposed integrated steel projects already being developed by Lloyds Metals & Energy Limited (LMEL) in Gadhchiroli. All proposed initiatives are subject to further detailed evaluation, due diligence, and receipt of requisite internal and regulatory approvals.

5. Tata Steel today has also signed definitive agreements to acquire 50.01% stake in Thriveni Pellets Private Limited (TPPL), subject to regulatory approvals. TPPL owns 100% stake in Brahmani River Pellet Limited (BRPL), which operates a 4 MTPA pellet plant at Jajpur, Odisha along with a 212 Kilometer slurry pipeline. LMEL holds the balance 49.99% stake in TPPL.

6. Tata Steel has been operating its pilot plant on HIsarna technology for a decade in its Ijmuiden plant. HIsarna technology is a low carbon technology that uses inferior quality iron ore, eliminates the usage of coke and also uses steel slag in its process, hence making it a sustainable technology for the future. In the last couple of years, Tata Steel along with a large global steel company has been jointly running trials in the IJmuiden Pilot Plant. The Board today reviewed the progress of the trials, reviewed the scalability opportunities of the technology and have given the approval to commence engineering work and to commence regulatory approval process to set up a demonstration plant around 1 MTPA capacity in Jamshedpur. Tata Steel owns the global intellectual property rights of the HIsrana process technology, and this is one of the key focus areas in the new technology space for the Company.

Bengaluru, December 9, 2025: Tata Steel has been awarded funding under the Indo-Sweden Industry Transition Partnership (ITP) for two collaborative projects focused on accelerating decarbonisation in the steel and cement sectors. The ITP initiative is supported by LeadIT, the Department of Science and Technology (Government of India), and the Swedish Energy Agency, and is designed to fast-track the development of technologies that can enable deep emission reductions across heavy industries.

Under this programme, Tata Steel will lead two research and innovation projects in partnership with academic institutions and technology companies from India and Sweden. This cross-border collaboration reflects a shared commitment by both governments to support industrial transformation through science, technology and joint innovation, particularly in sectors that are central to the global energy transition.

Commenting on the partnership, Subodh Pandey, Vice President –Technology, R&D, NMB and Graphene, Tata Steel, said: “Tata Steel is committed to pioneering disruptive technologies through active collaboration. Working with leading Indian and Swedish partners allows us to combine complementary strengths and accelerate technologies that can meaningfully reduce emissions. These projects reflect the direction in which industrial innovation needs to move – towards solutions that are science-led, collaborative and scalable.”

The first project, ‘MiCOBlast’, focuses on the development of a microwave plasma-assisted technology for converting blast furnace off-gases into value-added products. Working with IIT Hyderabad and Swedish partner – Green14, the project aims to demonstrate a viable pathway for industrial carbon utilisation by re-engineering the way carbon-rich gases are treated within the steelmaking process. By advancing this technology towards pre-piloting readiness, the project has the potential to significantly reduce emissions from traditional ironmaking.

The second initiative, ‘Steel Slag Reborn’, addresses the resource efficiency challenge across both the steel and cement value chains. In collaboration with IIT ISM Dhanbad, J K Cement and Sweden’s Cemvision, the project will work on recovering high-value metallics from steel slag while converting the remainder into sustainable supplementary cementitious material. This dual-benefit approach not only reduces waste but also contributes to lowering the carbon intensity of cement—one of the most emission-intensive materials globally.

These projects were formally announced at COP30 in Brazil, scheduled from November 15-17, 2025, underscoring their alignment with global climate goals and the urgency of accelerating industrial decarbonisation. The official project kick-off took place at the Swedish Embassy in New Delhi on December 8, 2025, marking the start of a two-country collaboration supported by strong scientific and technological capabilities.

The Indo–Sweden partnership represents more than joint research; it marks a deepening of shared priorities between the two countries in shaping the next generation of climate-smart industrial solutions. For Tata Steel, it reinforces a long-standing commitment to innovation-led decarbonisation and the belief that collaboration across borders is essential to building a low-carbon future for heavy industries worldwide.

For generations, the Sukinda Ecorace, a trivoltine Tasar silkworm, thrived in the mixed deciduous forests of Sukinda, Odisha. But the introduction of commercial strains and habitat loss nearly erased this native species, devastating traditional livelihoods in the process. To reverse this decline, over 26 hectares of degraded forest land were replanted with Arjun and Asan trees – the host plants, essential for Tasar silkworms. These restored forests now function as biodiversity corridors, sequestering carbon while rebuilding the ecosystem that once supported thriving silkworm populations.

The real innovation lies in the economics. Over 200 households – 50 engaged in plantation activities and 150 in sericulture – now participate in the project. The initiative directly supports India’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). It aligns with the National Biodiversity Action Plan and demonstrates how conservation and livelihood regeneration can be achieved simultaneously.

Bengaluru, November 18, 2025: Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK) completes a decade of operations, marking a significant milestone in its journey of industrial leadership and community development. Commissioned in 2015, TSK has not only emerged as a formidable force in steel manufacturing but has also set new benchmarks in operational efficiency, technological advancement, safety, and sustainable practices, while deeply integrating with its surrounding communities.

From an initial capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), TSK has now expanded to 8 MTPA production capacity with a cumulative investment of over ₹50,000 crore — the largest organic capacity expansion in Tata Steel’s history. A key highlight of this expansion was the commissioning of India’s largest blast furnace. Today, TSK plays a crucial role in India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat story by producing over 100 different types of high-quality steel, significantly reducing the nation’s import dependence.

T. V. Narendran, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Steel, said: “For all of us at Tata Steel, Kalinganagar holds a very special place in our hearts. It represents a new era — one where we combined a century of experience with a vision for the future, creating a living blueprint for Indian manufacturing. Kalinganagar tested our resilience, teamwork, and faith, and each time, our people rose to the occasion. Over the past decade, Kalinganagar has demonstrated how growth, technology, and sustainability can work in harmony to build lasting value. Today, as we celebrate this 10-year milestone, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of this journey – community, Odisha government, our employees past and present, customers, suppliers & vendor partners – for their unwavering support and belief in our vision.”

The establishment of TSK holds a unique place in the history of Tata Steel. For many years, the rich mineral resources of Odisha primarily served as raw material sources for the Jamshedpur plant. TSK fundamentally altered this dynamic by bringing large-scale steel production directly into Odisha. Odisha has emerged as the largest investment destination in India for Tata Steel, with a total cumulative investment of over ₹100,000 crore in the last 10 years.

TSK’s leadership in leveraging digital and smart manufacturing earned it global recognition from the World Economic Forum, making it the first manufacturing plant in India (and the second worldwide) to be designated as an Advanced 4th Industrial Revolution Lighthouse.

Sustainable growth is at the heart of TSK’s philosophy. The plant minimises its environmental impact through efficient supply chain management and reduced carbon emissions. Notably, 33% of its area is dedicated to green cover. TSK also operates as a Zero Effluent Discharge (ZED) site and ensures 100% solid waste utilisation, highlighting its commitment to environmental stewardship. In 2024, TSK achieved the prestigious ResponsibleSteelTM certification, which validates its commitment to ethical sourcing and responsible production practices.

TSK is also a frontrunner in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. The plant proudly reports that 30% of its workforce comprises women, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), LGBTIQA+ individuals, and members from Affirmative Action communities.

The positive impact of TSK extends well beyond its industrial operations into the local communities. Through robust collaborations with the Tata Steel Foundation, the plant has touched more than 14 lakh lives in the past 10 years. Community benefits include access to quality education through institutions like the Loyola School and advanced medical care at the 100-bed multispecialty Tata Steel Medica Hospital. TSK also supports local empowerment initiatives, such as the Navjeevan Cooperative Ltd., a self-help group of women artisans from Kalinganagar, which provides sustainable livelihoods to over 100 individuals.

The future holds even greater promise for Tata Steel Kalinganagar as it is poised to become a 16 MTPA complex – continuing to innovate, grow, and uplift the lives of countless individuals.

Bengaluru, September 30, 2025: Pursuant to extensive discussions, the Government of the Netherlands and the province of North-Holland, Tata Steel and Tata Steel Nederland (“TSN”) have agreed an intended framework for the integrated project in TSN and signed a non-binding Joint Letter of Intent (JLoI) for the first phase of transition to low CO2 steel production and to improve the healthy living environment around the IJmuiden site.

The JLoI sets out the aims and objectives of the parties but is neither binding on the execution of the Projects or the Subsidy, nor with respect to any of the other commitments made herein by any of the Parties, with the exception of the commitment of the Parties on good faith negotiations towards a tailor-made agreement including the commitments related specifically to the period prior to the tailor-made agreement. Both parties will continue working towards the final tailor-made agreement in the coming months including after the elections and the formation of the new government in Netherlands. The final investment decision will be considered by the Tata Steel Board in the process to come to the final binding tailor made agreement.

Mr. T V Narendran, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Steel and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Tata Steel Nederland said, “We would like to thank Minister Hermans, her colleagues in the Cabinet and the team from the Netherlands Government and from the province of North-Holland who have engaged constructively and painstakingly with us over the last 2 years to complete this first step in our journey towards creating a sustainable long-term future for Tata Steel Nederland.

There are a lot of issues to resolve and work to be done before us. This includes work we have to do internally, including the completion of the engineering preparedness for this very complex transition & addressing statutory and regulatory aspects related to the coke and gas plants. It also involves external issues including satisfactory resolution of critical policy matters impacting the investment case, obtaining permits for the projects, and agreeing on detailed terms in the binding agreement, before we can consider proceeding towards the investment decision. We are also closely monitoring the policy developments in EU on CBAM and in the Dutch Parliament regarding the challenges of the 2030 CO2 reduction targets. In parallel, we are also looking at prioritisation, optimisation and sequencing of the capex spend such that it is affordable for all stakeholders.

We are committed to working with all stakeholders including the government on resolving these points before the finalisation of the tailor-made agreement. The size and scale of the project is very large, and we are working to ensure that Tata Steel Nederland is ready for it, by improving its financial and operating performance and restoring it to its position as one of the most competitive steel making sites in Europe. Our Unions have supported this transition project and their continued support is essential to secure a robust sustainable future for TSN. We also want to assure our customers that our transition plans are based on ensuring an uninterrupted supply chain across our product portfolio.”

Through the first phase of the Integrated Health measures and Decarbonisation Project, TSN aims to achieve the following:

– TSN aims to de-commission the existing Blast Furnace #7 and Coke and Gas Plant 2 and construct a DRP intended to initially be operational on natural gas and an EAF with increased scrap-intake. This would reduce annual scope 1 CO2 emissions by 5.4 Mta relative to the as-is maximum of 12.6 Mta. Subsequently, Carbon Capture and Storage will be added to the DRP to further reduce TSN’s annual scope 1 CO2 emissions by 0.6 Mta. Finally, biomethane and/or hydrogen will be used when economically available at scale, to further reduce TSN’s annual scope 1 CO2 emissions by 1.2 Mta on phased basis (all subject to margins of uncertainty).

– In order to improve the healthy living environment, and reduce its contribution to coarse and fine dust (PM10) immissions, annual emissions of individual substances of very high concern – NOx emissions, SO2 emissions, odour emissions and noise, TSN aims to undertake specific beyond-legal measures, beyond the de-carbonisation of its assets. TSN will cover the blending pile of the pellet plant, build a windbreak for the blending pile of the sinter plant, cover the iron ore yards, invest in dust reduction measures at slag processing facilities, and noise & odour reduction measures. These sub-projects are expected to have a shorter construction time and be delivered before the end of this decade. TSN will also cover the iron ore yards for the volume of ore needed for the new DRP-facility, and cover the steel slag cooling of the new EAF (to be completed at the same time as the respective installations).

– TSN aims to implement new processing methods with the aim to improve the application of existing Basic Oxygen Steelmaking slag and future EAF slag. It also aims to increase its intake of scrap from 17% in 2019 to 30%, to improve circularity.

Both parties have agreed, certain conditions as necessary to be completed / satisfied to arrive at the tailor-made agreement and the JLoI contains termination clauses for both Tata Steel and the Dutch government. For Tata Steel this includes policies relating to the national CO2 levy resulting in a significant cost to TSN; network tariffs significantly increasing relative to prevailing levels, indexed for inflation; and policies regarding steel slag affecting the business significantly in a negative way. For the Dutch government and for Tata Steel it is also essential that TSN adequately addresses all its legacy liabilities, in particular relating to the Coke and Gas Plants. The Parties have agreed to develop and finalise the project schedule in the tailor-made agreement.

TSN has not yet completed the full engineering of the integrated project and therefore not finalised the total spend. The capital expenditure spend and phasing will be finalised at the stage of signing of the tailor-made agreement and at the point of making the final investment decision, and the project execution will also be spread over several years. The Dutch government intends to support up to €2 Billion under the JLoI. Additionally, TSN has made an application to the EU Innovation Fund for ~€0.3 Billion. The remaining amount is expected to be funded by a combination of the cash generated and contributed by Tata Steel Nederland, project financing debt, and funding procured by Tata Steel Limited over the period of project spend.

~ This year, Tata Steel is celebrating a decade of MOSAIC, its flagship DEI programme ~

Bengaluru, September 4, 2025: Tata Steel has successfully deployed women employees across all three shifts in the Outbound Logistics department in its Kalinganagar plant in Odisha. This marks a major milestone in the Company’s journey towards gender equity in industrial operations, a sector historically dominated by men.

In January 2025, Tata Steel Kalinganagar welcomed 39 trade apprentices from the 2023 batch, 26 of whom were women. Of these, 18 were inducted in the outbound logistics department and underwent rigorous training in safety, quality, dispatch processes, inventory management, and digital tools. Their on-boarding process included both classroom sessions and on-the-job training, preparing them for field and system-based roles.

Karamveer Singh, General Manager Operations, Tata Steel Kalinganagar, said: “The wider deployment of women in mines, logistics and across all shifts is a significant step towards improving workplace inclusivity, especially in the manufacturing sector. While technological developments have created a more level playing field for women in hitherto male-dominated roles, we are also seeing a significant shift in how women are embracing these roles and opportunities. We are encouraged by this achievement and will continue to push for greater women representation in similar job roles.”

In September 2019, Tata Steel became the first company in India to deploy women mining engineers in all shifts at its Noamundi mine. In FY25, Tata Steel deepened its commitment to building a truly inclusive and equitable workplace through several pioneering initiatives. One of the most significant milestones was the launch of India’s first-ever all-women shift in mining operations at its Noamundi iron mine, building on the success of its ‘Women@Mines’ and ‘Tejaswini’ programmes. Further, under its ‘Flames of Change’ initiative, Tata Steel had inducted women firefighter trainees, making it the first company in India’s steel sector to create an all-women firefighting crew.
