–Benefiting 6 Northern States and 3 UTs, project’s on-time commissioning reflects Company’s excellence in precision-driven execution—

Bengaluru, December 9, 2025: In a major enhancement to India’s northern power corridor, Tata Power today announced the commissioning of the 400 kV Koteshwar–Rishikesh transmission line, a critical link that will enable the evacuation of 1,000 MW of hydropower from the Tehri–Koteshwar generation complex in Uttarakhand to multiple northern states and Union Territories.

The project was executed under NRSS XXXVI Transmission Ltd., acquired by Resurgent Power Ventures Pvt. Ltd.- a joint venture promoted by Tata Power, ICICI Bank Limited and global investors.

The new line will channel clean, renewable energy not only to Uttarakhand but also to Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Delhi significantly strengthening regional energy security and grid reliability.

Constructed across some of the most challenging Himalayan terrain in New Tehri and Dehradun districts, the transmission line climbs to altitudes exceeding 1,816 meters above sea level. The project demanded extraordinary engineering ingenuity, from transporting materials through head-loading in remote mountainous regions to adhering to strict environmental norms while operating in forested zones.

Despite the logistical and geographical hurdles, more than 500 skilled personnel completed the project’s physical work within a single year (November 2024 to December 2025), following land clearance for 103 hectares. The successful, on-time commissioning of the project demonstrates Tata Power’s strong capabilities in safety, high-precision execution and sustainable infrastructure development.

This line represents the third major commissioning milestone under the NRSS XXXVI project. Earlier elements include the 400 kV LILO Sikar–Neemrana Double Circuit line (3.1 circuit km) and the 400 kV LILO Babai–Bhiwani Double Circuit line (222 circuit km).

With its addition, Tata Power now has 7,083 circuit km of transmission lines operational / under execution across India, further reinforcing its role in fortifying the nation’s electricity transmission backbone.

· Tata Power Commits ₹1,572 Cr of equity investment, to be infused in tranches

· Set to be Bhutan’s largest Public–Private Partnership hydro project; Expected commissioning by September 2031

· 80% of power to flow to India, while supporting Bhutan’s energy security and developmental priorities

Bengaluru, November 21, 2025: The Tata Power Company Limited (Tata Power), one of India’s largest integrated power companies, today announced the signing of Commercial Agreements with Druk Green Power Corporation Limited (DGPC) for the implementation of the 1,125 MW Dorjilung project. The Project will be implemented through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), with DGPC and Tata Power holding equity shares of 60% and 40%, respectively.

The Run-of-the-River project, comprising six units of 187.5 MW each, is being developed on the Kurichhu River in Mongar, Bhutan. Designed with a six-hour pondage for peaking, Dorjilung represents a major step forward in expanding clean, reliable hydropower in the region. Tata Power has committed an equity investment of approximately ₹1,572 crore to be infused in tranches as per the agreed structure.

At a total project cost of ₹13,100 crore, Dorjilung will be Bhutan’s second-largest hydropower project, and the largest Public–Private Partnership (PPP) hydro project ever undertaken in the country. On completion, the SPV will become an associate company of Tata Power, strengthening its strategic presence in the Himalayan renewable energy corridor.

The project is slated for commissioning in September 2031, and 80% of its generation will be supplied to India, providing a significant boost to regional energy security and clean power availability. The project is supported by the World Bank, marking a milestone in cross-border clean-energy financing.

The Concession Agreement was signed in Thimphu, Bhutan, by Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Power; Dasho Chhewang Rinzin, Managing Director, Druk Green Power Corporation Limited (DGPC) and Mr Karma P. Dorji, Director General, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR), Government of Bhutan.
