India’s workforce is increasingly prioritizing purpose-driven employment choices, with work-life balance, equity, and attractive salary & benefits emerging as the top Employee Value Proposition (EVP) drivers.

● GenZ is driving job-switching trends, with 38% having switched jobs in the last six months.

● The IT, ITeS, & GCC sector emerges as the most desirable industry to work in India.

● AI usage soars, with 3 in 5 employees using it regularly at work; optimism rises despite job displacement concerns.

● 9 in 10 employees want reskilling support; it has emerged as a critical priority not only for job seekers but also for those looking to continue in their current jobs.

Bengaluru, India, 22nd July 2025: Tata Group has emerged as India’s most attractive employer brand, reveals the findings of Randstad Employer Brand Research (REBR) 2025 – the most comprehensive, independent, and in-depth employer brand research in the world conducted annually.

Tata Group scored very high on financial health, career progression opportunities, and reputation – the top 3 Employee Value Proposition (EVP) drivers for the organization as per the survey that helped the brand earn the winning spot. Google India climbed the rankings this year to emerge as the runner-up, followed by Infosys, which occupied the third spot. Another key highlight from the findings of this year’s report is the fact that State Bank of India has entered the list of top 10 employer brands, as the only Indian multinational public sector bank.

Now in its 15th edition in India, and 25th edition globally, the REBR report provides a detailed lens into the evolving priorities of the talent community. Based on insights from over 170,000 respondents across 34 markets, including 3,500+ in India, the study reveals that today’s talent expects far more than just a paycheque. They are looking for inclusive, future-focused workplaces that support both personal and professional growth.

Notably, talent in India rate their current organizations highly on factors like reputation, financial health, and equity. However, when asked about their perception of an ideal employer, work-life balance and attractive salary & benefits have emerged as potential gaps that Indian employers still need to address.

Top 10 most attractive employer brands in India for 2025:

This year, the top 10 most attractive employer brands represent diverse industries, reinforcing that talent opportunities today span across sectors. This underscores the strong competition among employers, who are not just contending with peers within their own sector, but also vying with companies across industries to attract top talent.

1. Tata Group

2. Google India

3. Infosys

4. Samsung India

5. JPMorganChase

6. IBM

7. Wipro

8. Reliance Industries

9. Dell Technologies Ltd

10. State Bank of India

Presenting the REBR 2025 insights, Viswanath PS, MD & CEO, Randstad India, a talent company, said, ”The Randstad Employer Brand Research continues to be an essential guide for organizations navigating a rapidly evolving talent landscape. The 2025 findings reflect a clear shift- today’s workforce is no longer satisfied with conventional jobs; they’re seeking equity, purpose, meaningful growth, and work-life harmony.

This year’s data also reveals a steady rise in job-switching intent, especially among younger talent. It’s a wake-up call for employers to move beyond transactional perks and build organizational cultures rooted in trust, transparency, and shared purpose. With work-life balance once again the top EVP driver, and reskilling gaining priority across all talent age groups, it’s time for organizations to reimagine and realign their EVP strategies to stay relevant.

As we lean further into a skills-based economy, the competition for top talent will only grow fiercer. The organizations that prioritize inclusion, foster continuous learning, and align with what truly matters to talent will stand out. I believe the REBR 2025 report will serve as a strategic compass for every employer striving to become a true talent magnet.”

Key findings from the REBR 2025 report:

Job-switching intent continues its upward trend. 47% of Indian employees planned to switch jobs in the first half of 2025, with both Gen Z (51%) and Millennials (50%) displaying a strong intention to switch employers.

Engagement levels are strong, with 86% of Indian workers reporting high motivation, while only 5% reporting low engagement. However, 67% of disengaged employees still plan to switch jobs, underscoring the link between engagement and retention.

Gen Z & millennials prioritize equity and inclusion more than Gen X, who focus on work-life balance. Gen Z values training and development more than leadership strength of the organization. Millennials are the most satisfied generation, rating their employers higher on salary, equity, and work-life balance.

AI usage is rising rapidly, with 61% of Indian employees now using it regularly. Millennials are the most active users, with a 13% increase over the previous year. The expectation of AI’s impact remains high, with 38% of employees feeling that AI is impacting their work significantly.

Reskilling remains a major priority, especially for highly educated professionals. 9 in 10 workers place high value on employers that offer upskilling opportunities.

Nearly 49% of India’s workforce identifies as belonging to a minority group. Notably, younger generations report higher rates of minority identification – 55% of Gen Z and 50% of Millennials. Encouragingly, minority employees are more positive about fairness in reskilling opportunities, especially from senior leadership. However, many are significantly more likely to report facing obstacles in career progression opportunities.

Work-life balance continues to emerge as the universal top priority for talent across industries. However, differences in role expectations remain: talent involved in sectors like manufacturing, automobile, light industrial, supply chain & logistics, heavy industry, energy & infrastructure, and skilled trades, emphasize job security. However, talent involved in sectors like pharma, healthcare & lifesciences, finance/ITeS, global capability centres, business consulting, engineering, sales, trade & marketing, BFSI, wholesale, retail, design, and R&D, places greater importance on strong management and career growth.

Bengaluru, July 14, 2025: Tata Steel UK today celebrates a historic milestone in its green transformation journey as Mr Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Steel and the Tata Group, joins government ministers at a groundbreaking event for the company’s state-of-the-art Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) facility in Port Talbot.

Mr Chandrasekaran will be joined by Tata Steel CEO and Managing Director T. V. Narendran and Tata Steel UK CEO Rajesh Nair, where they will officially break the ground with spades, marking the official start of construction for the UK’s largest low-carbon steelmaking facility. This is part of a £1.25 billion transformation to low CO2 steelmaking, supported by a £500 million investment from the UK Government.

The new EAF—set to be commissioned at the end of 2027—is expected to reduce Port Talbot’s carbon emissions by approximately 90%, equivalent to 5 million tonnes of CO₂ per year, while securing high-quality sustainable steel production and supporting 5,000 UK jobs directly.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Mr Chandrasekaran said: “This is an important day for Tata Group, Tata Steel and for the UK. Today’s groundbreaking marks not just the beginning of a new Electric Arc Furnace, but a new era for sustainable manufacturing in Britain. At Port Talbot, we are building the foundations of a cleaner, greener future, supporting jobs, driving innovation, and demonstrating our commitment to responsible industry leadership. This project is also part of Tata Group’s wider investment in the UK, across steel, automotive, and technology among others, which reflects our deep and enduring partnership with this country.”

Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said:

“This is our Industrial Strategy in action and is great news for Welsh steelmaking backing this crucial Welsh industry, which will give certainty to local communities and thousands of local jobs for years to come.

“This government is committed to a bright future for our steel industry, which is why we provided £500 million of funding to make this project possible. Our modern Industrial Strategy will set out how we’ll back the sector even further to drive growth and create well-paid jobs across the country, as part of our Plan for Change.”

Secretary of State for Wales Jo Stevens said:

“The UK Government acted decisively to ensure that steelmaking in Port Talbot will continue for generations to come, backing Tata Steel with £500 million to secure its future in the town, along with £80 million to support workers and the wider community. Our Steel Strategy will also deliver £2.5 billion of investment to rebuild the UK industry, maintain jobs and drive growth.

“The construction of Tata’s new furnace realises the promise we made to the community, while the development of floating offshore wind, plans for a Celtic Freeport and millions more for local regeneration all mean that Port Talbot has a bright future.”

First Minister Eluned Morgan said:

“This is a momentous day for heavy industry in Wales, as the electric arc furnace has secured the long-term future of steel making at Port Talbot. Seeing spades in the ground today provides a tangible sign of Tata’s intention to continue producing steel in the area, an industry which has provided quality jobs to local people for generations.

“The start of the construction phase is good news for Port Talbot and neighbouring communities, and I’m especially pleased that Tata has committed to employing local contractors and local workers where it can.”

The Port Talbot EAF will be one of the largest in the world, melting UK-sourced scrap steel to produce 3 million tonnes of steel per year. As part of Tata Steel UK’s broader decarbonisation strategy, the project also includes new ladle metallurgy facilities, infrastructure upgrades, and partnerships with leading technology providers such as Tenova, ABB, and Clecim.

Construction is being led by main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine, alongside a strong regional supply chain that includes Darlow Lloyd & Sons, Mii, Skelton Thomas, Wernick Buildings, Andrew Scott Ltd and Systems Group.

The groundbreaking reaffirms Tata Steel’s commitment to delivering long-term sustainability, strengthening UK industrial resilience, and ensuring Wales remains at the forefront of green steelmaking.

Notes

· The groundbreaking event is to be live-streamed on Tata Steel UK’s YouTube channel from around 14:15 GMT (19:45 IST) on Monday, July 14

· The joint £1.25 billion investment by Tata Steel and the UK Government in green steelmaking at Port Talbot is the biggest in a generation and will not only secure 5000 jobs across Tata Steel UK, but will also reduce the site’s CO2 emissions by 50 million tonnes over the next ten years.

Bengaluru, October 21, 2024: Tata Group and Somerville College, University of Oxford are collaborating to construct the Ratan Tata Building. This building represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to expand Somerville’s teaching and learning space, support research with global impact and articulate the College’s vision of a sustainable and forward-looking academic community. The construction will begin in Spring 2025.

The project is made possible by the decade-long friendship between Somerville College and Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, Mr Ratan Tata. While the decision to name the new building in honour of Mr Tata in recognition for his lifelong work as a philanthropist and humanitarian was taken some time ago, his death, felt so keenly throughout India and the world, gives even greater meaning to this lasting tribute to him.

True to Somerville’s founding principles, the plans envisage a space that is both inclusive and equitable. New seminar rooms and offices will exist alongside spaces for shared study and interdisciplinary collaboration, reception rooms and accommodation for visiting academics. The interchange of ideas and model of collegiate working will be facilitated by the space itself.

Somerville College is proud to announce that we will shortly begin construction on a flagship building at the heart of the Oxford University’s new Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, enabled by the significant philanthropic donation from the Tata Group.

The transformational generosity of the Tata Group will also enable the creation of a permanent home for the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development (OICSD) within the new building. The values of Mr Tata and the Tata Group align closely with the work of the OICSD, a unique Oxford-India partnership embodying our deep, longstanding ties with India and our cutting-edge commitment to world-class scholarship and transformative research.

The location of the Tata Building is unrivalled. Standing opposite the internationally renowned Blavatnik School of Government, Somerville’s new building will occupy the last remaining plot of land available for development on the prestigious Radcliffe Observatory Quarter site, directly opposite the new Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities.

The winning design for the building was produced by London-based architects Morris+Company in their first project at the University of Oxford.

Somerville College’s Principal, Baroness Royall, said of the news: “This building is the fruit of many conversations, hopes and dreams over the past decade and our long association with Mr Tata. In its capacity to meet our College’s present and future need, to embody our values, and to guide us towards an exciting future, it is unparalleled. Now it will stand as a permanent legacy to the life of a remarkable man and a dear friend of Somerville. I am deeply grateful to Mr Chandrasekaran, Chairman of the Tata Group, and all those involved for enabling us to create this dynamic expression of friendship between Oxford and India, to pay tribute to Mr Tata and to cement Somerville’s plans as a world-class academic institution.”

Mr. N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of the Board of Tata Sons, commented, “In Mr Tata’s vision for India, research and critical inquiry went hand in hand with development and prosperity. This partnership with Somerville College is a tribute to Mr Tata’s values. The building in his name will be a home to research that is necessary and urgent for India.”

By RAMAKANT CHAUDHARY

Incredible and rewarding lifetime from 1937 to 2024, now on an immortal infinite journey. India and the world have lost a “Giant With A Giant Heart.” Myriads of shades of emotional condolence messages are pouring in from all walks of life across the world. Commoners, celebrities, politicians, global personalities, and business tycoons stand united in grief. The feel of the mourning words is threaded in the echoing of “याद बहुत आओगे”… The 86 dazzling milestones of his life’s journey on the Earth will be deeply etched in memories. The demise of RATAN TATA, chairman emeritus of the Tata Group, shook the world. His sagacity, kindness, compassion and brilliancy of business have left behind a colossal legacy— such an enviously big shoes to be filled hardly by anyone. Beyond (business) headlines and boardroom, he–a Padama Vibhushan awardee in 2008 (country’s second-highest civilian award) –was an extraordinary human being and a compassionate soul whose unstinting commitment to make society better for one and all, including animals, with genuine humility has left a deep-rooted mark that will benefit generations to come.

Created by Parsi priest Jamshet-Ji Tata, Tata Group has pedaled a long mile on the business landscape to become a nation-builder from a humble start in 1868. From salt to steel and from Tanishq to Truck, Tata Group has eventually become synonymous with trust under the visionary leadership of Ratan Tata–known as the man who changed the fortune for the Tata Group. Taking the reins of leadership as Chairman of Tata Sons and Chairman of the Tata trusts in March 1991 after his predecessor JRD Tata passed away, Ratan Tata rapidly expanded India’s oldest business conglomerate, 156-year-old, with its operations spanning more than 100 countries which clocked USD 165 billion in revenue in FY 2023-24. His helming of the group coincided with the start of liberalization of the economy in 1990. After finishing his graduation degree in architecture from Cornell University, New York, in 1962, he joined the family firm Tata Group. Ratan Tata hung up his boots as Chairman of Tata Sons in December 2012 after 50 years with the Tata group. He was crowned with the title of Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons.

Ratan Tata reorganized the Tata Group within six years of his joining. The elevation of business revenue from USD 5.9 billion to USD 100 billion during his retirement has gone through the prism of Tata’s visionary mind with hard work, determination and passion. This process has witnessed sacking of maverick heads of verticals like Russi Modi of Tata Steel, Darbari Seth at Tata Chemicals, and Ajit Kelkar of Indian Hotels Co. His stint with the group has gone through boardroom battles. The acrimonious boardroom fight with Cyrus Mistry snowballed into a public spat with the Shapoorji Pallonji family, which owns 18 percent of Tata Sons. He handed over the baton to Natarajan Chandrasekaran in January 2017 and donned his role of chairman emeritus of Tata Sons.

Ratan Tata not only achieved several groundbreaking achievements but also scripted one of the most outstanding comeback stories in the corporate world. The epic saga of daggers drawn between Tata and Ford is still reverberating and could be a strong character of Bollywood movie script. In 1999 Ratan Tata decided to sell the car business and met Bill Ford, chairperson of Ford company. During the meeting Bill Ford humiliated Tata saying: “You do not know anything about passenger cars, why did you start the business at all? We are doing you a favour by buying your car division.” Ratan Tata changed the course, not to sell the car division. Known for his never give-up attitude, Tata burnt midnight oil to evolve a better version of Indica, India’s first indigenously manufactured and designed car, which became one of highest selling cars of the company. Nine years later when the “Great Recession 2008” hit the world, Ford badly skidded to bankruptcy. And the table had turned on Ratan Tata who offered to buy Jaguar and Land Rover, and finally a deal was sealed in 2008 to buy the brands from Ford.

Ratan Tata’s dedication to philanthropy and the development of society has touched not only the lives of millions of people, but also dogs and animals. His love for dogs has changed the course of animal welfare in India. In 2018, he canceled his trip to London to receive a prestigious lifetime achievement award for his philanthropic work from Prince Charles (now King Charles III) at Buckingham Palace. The REASON: Ratan Tata’s dog fell sick. Hearing this King Charles could not help but admire him, stating: “That’s a man. That’s the man Ratan is… That’s why the house of Tata is on a stable course.” Tata’s affection for animals extended far beyond his own pets. In July 2023, following years of preparation and setbacks, he inaugurated India’s first Small Animal Hospital in Mahalaxmi, Mumbai. This cutting-edge facility spans 98,000 square feet and marks a significant milestone in animal healthcare.

A true visionary, whose legacy of kindness and leadership will echo through time. His story will forever be cherished by the earth and sky, like a timeless melody:

हम हैं इस पल यहाँ, जाने हो कल कहाँ
हम मिले न मिले, हम रहें न रहें
रहेगी सदा यहाँ, प्यार की ये दास्तान
सुनेंगे सदा जिसे, ये ज़मीन आसमान…
