Birth Anniversary of Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja to be celebrated by Bhanja Cultural Trust and Rourkela Steel Plant

A grand cultural programme is going to be organized at the Bhanja Bhawan Auditorium at 6.30 PM on 17th May 2026 by Bhanja Cultural Trust, Rourkela and SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to mark the Birth Anniversary of the epoch-defining literary titan, Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja.

Mr. Tarun Misra, Executive Director (Human Resources) of RSP will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Krushna Keshab Sarangi, an acclaimed scholar of Bhanja Literature will be the key note speaker and deliver an erudite speech on the literary legacy of Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja. Another highlight of the evening will be presentation of songs penned by Kabi Samrat by eminent Odishi singers. A beautiful Odishi dance recital based on his poetry will also be performed by the artists of Bhanja Kala Kendra.

Winners of various competitions organized earlier to mark the occasion will be awarded on this occasion. Notably around 200 students had already participated in the painting, essay, elocution, song and recitation competitions organized last week, while the Odishi dance competition will be organized on 17th morning.

SAIL, RSP donates Van to Home and Hope for facilitating commutating of children with Special needs

SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has donated a Van to Home and Hope a special school for mentally challenged children. At a function organised at Corporate Social Responsibility Department on 30^th July, Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR) with Additional Charge of ED (Projects) handed over the vehicle for the use of special children to Ms. Padmini Das, Principal (Home and Hope). Present on the occasion were Dr. G S Das, CGM (Projects Commercial), Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM (CSR), Mr. Abakash Mallick, GM In-charge (Transport and FMM) and other Seniors Officers and Staff of CSR Department and Home and Hope. The function was coordinated by Mr. T B Toppo, AGM (CSR) and Mr. A N Pati, AGM (CSR).

The van worth Rs. 16.00 lakhs was procured by the Transport Department under CSR Head as a part of Assistive Devices Distribution to the Divyangjans, reiterating RSP’s commitment to social responsibility and inclusivity.

The van would ensure a safe and convenient mode of transportation for the children with special needs, facilitating their daily commute to and from school. It will help in children’s accessibility to education and other essential services.
