CELEBRITIE’S ON JNU ATTACK

Bollywood celebrities took to their social media handles to condemn the rampage carried out by a masked mob on the students and teachers. Swara Bhasker, Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap, Shabana Azmi, Riteish Deshmukh and others have opened up about the violence.

Kriti Sanon SAID : “It breaks my heart to see what happened at JNU! What’s going on in India is horrifying!! Students & teachers being beaten up & terrorized by masked cowards!! The constant blame game!Stooping so low for political agendas!Violence is NEVER a solution! How have we become so inhuman?”

Taapsee Pannu SAID : “such is the condition inside what we consider to be a place where our future is shaped. It’s getting scarred for ever. Irreversible damage. What kind of shaping up is happening here, it’s there for us to see…. saddening”

Meanwhile Hundreds of protesters who gathered at Mumbai’s iconic Gateway of India since Sunday night in anger against the mob attack in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) were forced out by the police this morning and moved to Azad Maidan, 2 km away. This after the police were told by the students that there was no leader of the protest and no one would listen to the requests to shift to Azad Maidan.

Policemen then physically removed from the popular tourist site that became the epicentre of the “Occupy Gateway” protest. The police say while some moved voluntarily, some had to be dragged away from the site after they refused to comply.

A police officer told there are no toilet or water facilities at the Gateway of India and it was becoming a challenge to control the crowd at what is one of the busiest sites in Mumbai.

Actor Anil Kapoor has strongly condemned the violent attack on the students and faculty members of Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) by masked assailants on Sunday night.

The actor said, “It has to be condemned. It was quite sad and quite shocking. What I saw was very disturbing. In fact, main poori raat soya nahi yeh soch soch ke ki what is happening. (In fact, I did not sleep all night because I was thinking about what is happening.) It has to be condemned. Violence se kuch hone wala nahi hai. Jinhone yeh kiya, they should be punished, absolutely.

Mission Mangal box office collection Rs 200 crore Approx

Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal is unstoppable at the box office. The film, based on India’s maiden interplanetary mission – the Mars Orbiter Mission, has struck gold at the box office. Jagan Shakti’s directorial venture, which crossed the Rs 150-crore mark within 11 days of its release, is now eyeing the Rs 200-crore club.

The film has not only turned out to be Akshay Kumar’s biggest opener so far. It has also become Khiladi Kumar’s second-fastest film to cross the Rs 150-crore mark, after Shankar’s 2.0. Such has been the craze around Mission Mangal that the film is continuing its winning streak with each passing day.

After making Rs 168.48 crore in 12 days, Mission Mangal did decent business on Tuesday too. According to early estimates, Mission Mangal earned Rs 2 crore (approx), thus taking the 13-day collection to Rs 170.48 crore (approx).

Mission Mangal box office collection set to cross Rs 100-cr mark

In the last few years, Akshay Kumar has not only become the flagbearer of patriotic films in Bollywood but has also brought meaningful cinema to the audience. If he did not shy away from talking about open defecation and menstruation on the big screen, he is trying to bring more inspirational and important stories to the 70 mm with each passing day. And his latest release Mission Mangal is one such example. Based on India’s Mangalyaan or Mars Orbiter Mission, Jagan Shakti’s directorial venture has struck gold at the box office. After getting a bumper opening, Mission Mangal is now set to enter the Rs 100-crore club.

Released on Independence Day, Mission Mangal got a fabulous opening (Rs 29.16 crore). So much so that the film emerged as Akshay’s biggest opener so far. And the consecutive days numbers were no less. Mission Mangal made Rs 17.28 crore on its second day and Rs 23.58 crore on its third day, thus taking the three day collection to Rs 70.02 crore.
