Bengaluru, June 10, 2025: TP Solar Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) and the manufacturing arm of The Tata Power Company Limited (Tata Power), today announced that it has crossed 4 GW solar module manufacturing at its Tamil Nadu plant.

The plant has cumulatively produced 4049 MW of solar modules and 1441 MW of solar cells up to 31st May’2025.

With a strategic focus on scaling up production, the Company is targeting 3.7 GW of solar cell output and 3.725 GW of module production in FY26, further solidifying its commitment to supporting India’s clean energy transition.

Strategically built to comply with Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) norms, the facility is equipped to manufacture next-generation Mono PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) and advanced TopCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) modules using cutting-edge automated and AI-driven technologies. The ramp-up aligns with Tata Power’s goal to strengthen India’s solar supply chain resilience by reducing dependency on imports and enabling faster deployment of clean energy projects nationwide.

The facility is already supplying panels to meet Tata Power’s order book requirements—including utility-scale solar farms, hybrid energy parks, and distributed rooftop systems as well as serving marquee third-party installations across the country.

With its rated capacity of 4.3 GW expected to be fully realized in FY26, the plant would continue to support the nation’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Beyond its technological prowess, the Tamil Nadu facility also stands out for its inclusive and sustainability-first approach. Over 80% of the plant’s shop floor workforce comprises women, reflecting Tata Power’s strong focus on gender diversity and equitable job creation in advanced manufacturing. The plant itself has been built using green building principles, energy-efficient processes, and resource-conscious design, minimizing its environmental footprint.

As one of India’s largest vertically integrated solar players, TP Solar is driving innovation and scale across the clean energy value chain—from manufacturing and engineering to deployment and digital energy services. The ramp-up of this 4.3 GW facility positions the company as a key enabler of India’s clean energy independence, while advancing the global movement toward sustainable energy security.

TPREL also has a 682MW solar module and a 530MW solar cell plant at Bengaluru, which operates at full capacity to support the DCR Cells and Modules production.

Thousands of bank employees sat on a two-day bank strike from today. Bank union leaders said about 31 lakh cheques worth ₹23,000 crore could not be cleared due to the strike. Several PSU bank branches and even ATMs could remain shut for three days in many parts of India as the bank strike comes before Sunday.

The timing of this bank strike is symbolic as it coincides with the release of the Economic Survey in the Parliament today and the presentation of the Union Budget tomorrow.

While work at private sector banks like ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank would not be affected due to the strike, services at PSU banks were hit. The State Bank of India (SBI) had already warned that its services could be impacted to some extent. Around 10 lakh bank employees were expected to join the two-day protest.

Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, West Bengal, UP, MP, Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, etc. banking transactions have been greatly affected

Bank unions vs bank management

Bank employees under the umbrella of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) and representatives of bank management (Indian Bank’s Association or IBA) had a last minute meeting yesterday on wage settlement issues, pending since November 2017. IBA said it has increased the pay hike offer of 12.25% to 19% including performance linked incentive. The bank unions have refused to budge from their demands of a 20% pay hike on pay slip components with adequate loading thereof.

Bank unions are also demanding 5-day work week, merger of special allowance with basic pay, scrapping of new pension scheme, etc. IBA made it clear that the proposal of a 5-day banking is not possible. “It is known to all that the economy of the country is going through testing times. Banks being the principal players in economic development, cannot afford to provide lesser number of working days for banking activities,” IBA said in a statement.

Considering the difficulties faced by trade and industry in filing of returns, the government has decided to introduce several measures to ease the process. The Finance Ministry today said that now GST taxpayers can file their GSTR-3B returns in a staggered manner.

Presently the last date of filing GSTR-3B returns for every taxpayer is 20th of every month. From now on, the last date for filing of GSTR-3B for the taxpayers having annual turnover of Rs 5 crore and above in the previous financial year would be 20th of the month. Thus, around 8 lakh regular taxpayers would have the last date of GSTR-3B filing as 20th of every month without late fees.

The taxpayers having annual turnover below Rs 5 crore in previous financial year will be divided further in two categories. The tax filers from 15 States/ UTs, i.e., Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will now be having the last date of filing GSTR-3B returns as 22nd of the month without late fees. This category would have around 49 lakh GSTR-3B filers who would now have 22nd of every month as their last date for filing GSTR-3B returns.

For the remaining 46 lakh taxpayers from the 22 States/UTs of Jammu and Kashmir, Laddakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha having annual turnover below Rs 5 crore in previous financial year will now be having last date of filing the GSTR-3B as 24th of the month without late fees.

The Finance Ministry said that the necessary notification in this regard would be issued later by the competent authority.

In a statement issues, the Ministry further said that it has also taken a note of difficulties and concerns expressed by the taxpayers regarding filing of GSTR-3B and other returns. The matter has been discussed by the GSTN with Infosys, the Managed Service Provider, which has come out with above solution to de-stress the process as a temporary but immediate measure. For further improving the performance of GSTN filing portal on permanent basis, several technological measures are being worked out with Infosys and will be in place by April 2020.
