As a part of Operation Goldmine, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 48.20 kg of Gold Paste at Surat International Airport. This is one of biggest gold seizures at an airport in recent times.

Based on specific intelligence, officers of DRI intercepted 3 passengers arriving from Sharjah by Air India Express Flight No. IX172 at Surat International Airport on 07.07.2023 suspected to be carrying gold in paste form to be smuggled into India. Examination of their hand baggage and check-in baggage was carried out and 43.5 kg of gold in paste form was found concealed in 20 white color packets hidden in 5 black belts.

The interrogation of passengers revealed that the gold was concealed for smuggling into India with the help of officials posted at the Surat International Airport. The exchange of gold was planned to be done in a toilet located before the immigration to evade screening and examination by authorities. Subsequent actions resulted in further recovery of 4.67 kg of gold in paste form, found abandoned in the men’s washroom adjacent to the immigration checkpoint, which was handed over by CISF to DRI. A total of 48.20 kg gold paste recovered from the passengers was subjected to extraction, and more than 42 kg of gold (purity 99%) worth Rs. 25.26 crore approx. was recovered.

Statement of persons were recorded under Customs Act, 1962, and based on their role, 3 passengers along with one official have been arrested. From the investigation so far, it appears that an organized smuggling racket has been operating at the Surat International Airport. Further investigation to find out involvement of other persons including officials at the airport, is being carried out, to dismantle the whole syndicate. PIB

The first flight operations from Belgaum (Karnataka) to Surat (Gujarat) to Kishangarh (Ajmer) were flagged off today under the RCS-UDAN (Regional Connectivity Scheme – Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) of the Government of India. The officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and Airport Authority of India (AAI) were present at the inauguration. The launch of the flight operations on the Surat-Kishangarh-Belgaum route aligns with the government’s objective to provide air connectivity with metros to the Tier-2 & Tier-3 cities of the country under UDAN. More than 300 routes have been operationalised under the UDAN scheme, and the flag off marks the inauguration of the 303rd route under the ambit of the scheme.

In its constant endeavour to link the unconnected regions, Star Air was awarded the Belgaum-Surat-Kishangarh route during the UDAN 3 bidding process last year. The airlines are being provided Viability Gap Funding (VGF) under the UDAN scheme to keep the fares affordable & accessible for the common people. The airline will be operating thrice-weekly flights on the route and will deploy its 50-seater Embraer-145 aircraft. The route marks the commencement of the 20th UDAN route by the airline.

The aerial connectivity on this route had been one of the most awaited demands of natives. People frequently visit the famous Nine Planets temple, Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Pushkar Lake, Phool Mahal Palace, Roopangarh Fort, etc in Kishangarh. Furthermore, the city is also known as the Marble City of India and is a big market of red chilies. Until now there was no direct mode of transport available from Belgaum to Kishangarh. The travellers were compelled to take a train till Agra, and further, they had to opt for a bus to reach Kishangarh. Similarly, by road, the completion of the entire journey took more than 25 hrs. Now, people can travel comfortably & fly at ease by opting for a flight of 3:10 hours. Apart from saving time, money, and energy of the people who travel frequently between Belgaum & Kishangarh, the launch of the regular flight operations on the route will further provide a catalyst to trade & tourism of the region. Likewise, the natives of the Silk City & Diamond City, Surat had to suffer long train & road journeys to reach the Marble City. The completion of the entire journey took more than 50 hours, Now, natives reach Kishangarh by opting for a flight of just 80 mins.

First Mumbai. Then Kalyan , Surat , Ahmedabad , Nagpur , Baramati , Kolhapur , Banaras and now Patna .. The incidents of drowning in flood is increasing. It is just happening that the whosoever leading government the leader is giving that statement that they cannot do anything as it natures strike . But the time has come if the delay of the monsoon and then sudden floods will not make a lesson from them the things will get worse. So far, more than four hundred people have been killed in different cities during the rainy season alone and this series is not taking the name of stopping.

The Meteorological Department and the rest of the private website are saying that it will rain heavy to heavy but hardly anyone knows that all will be drowned in just four hours of rain. In Pune, in just three hours at night, so much water fell that Katraj Talab overflowed and half of Pune was drowned. Obviously, time is for thinking. It is not only about one city or one state but it can be a matter of concern for the whole of India or like this. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is saying that the rain is natural but no one is able to control it, but good governance Babu, you are sensible enough to understand that it is not just the havoc of nature, we are all responsible for it.

Why is the raining so suddenly?
Weather scientists and experts believe that this change in weather is not due to any other reason but due to change in temperature. For the past several months, in the Bay of Bengal, sometimes there are low pressure areas in the Indian Ocean, due to which there is a constant change in the speed of monsoon. However, the scientists are not able to tell that all these global temperatures are increasing. It is happening due to global warming but they believe that it can have an effect. All the great leaders of the whole world gathered on the same issue in the United Nations recently but nothing special came out. Greta, a 16 year old girl, said openly that what are you going to give to your children. But President Trump of America also mocked him. According to an estimate, in the next hundred years, many big cities of the world may drown due to rising sea level. They can also be Mumbai. Obviously, if the temperature and environment is not taken care of now, then the situation can get worse.

How much we and our leaders are aware of this, the recent Metro carshed controversy in Aarey shows that in the name of development, policies are first formulated, then forest cutting routes are being taken out, while the IIT itself has said this If the aarey trees are cut, then the entire airport and half of Mumbai can be drowned. The problem is that even such a big threat does not affect the vote, it is limited to headlines and selfies. It is true that temperature change is not a matter of any individual or government but For this, the whole world will have to speak in unison.
what can we do..

First of all, we have to understand that the flood and rain will continue to come and this will happen every year, for this, we will also have to prepare in the same .

1) Identifying the areas in which floods occur every year or are in danger of coming.
2) River banks. Preventing habitat in catchment area and drainage area of pond and dam
3) Ending the shallowness of the river and removing all the obstructions of the flow.
4) Take water from the dam to the canals so that pressure on the dam is reduced as well as to give prior notice of overflow.
5) Training of flood rescue should be given to every citizen on a regular basis. Urban Volunteers should be prepared, which the government should provide.
6) The program of connecting the rivers should be completed fast and water should be transported to the drought areas.
In both urban and rural areas, drains should be widened and water drain barriers should be removed.
Right and accurate warning of rain should be given so that people from low-lying areas are removed beforehand.
7) A large number of wells should be built on the banks of rivers so that flood water goes into the ground.
8) Preparations for evacuation of water and rescue in flood should be in every city and village. Do not wait for help.
