NEW DELHI. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has officially launched Navachar Mantra, a landmark national initiative designed to identify, nurture, and scale grassroots innovations and early-stage entrepreneurship across India. Unveiled by Union Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary at IIT Delhi, the programme places a unique focus on empowering untamed talent from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, aspirational districts, and rural communities. Implemented by NIESBUD with IIT Delhi’s Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) as the technical knowledge partner, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between rural ingenuity and national scale by building deep collaborations among government bodies, academia, and industry leaders.

During the launch, which featured an insightful fireside chat with top Indian founders, Minister Chaudhary emphasized that the next global transformation should carry India’s intellectual imprint, urging the youth to look beyond manufacturing and instead pioneer technologies that shape the global future. The program targets critical priority sectors including Agritech, HealthTech, EdTech, Climate and Sustainability, and MSME Enablement, effectively connecting local problem-solvers directly with policymakers, corporate leaders, and investors. Digital applications for the initiative have officially opened and will remain active until July 5, 2026, kicking off a multi-stage expert evaluation process to select high-potential ventures.

Selected innovators will enter a comprehensive, year-long engagement programme packed with dedicated mentorship roundtables, thematic webinars, investor networking sessions, and national storytelling platforms. Beyond strategic guidance on fundraising, intellectual property management, and regulatory compliance, the initiative will facilitate physical pilot projects and market linkages to turn raw ideas into profitable enterprises. Navachar Mantra will ultimately culminate in a massive national showcase event, utilizing ministerial podcasts and digital campaigns to grant grassroots creators high-visibility recognition, thereby strengthening the talent pipeline for a self-reliant, innovation-driven Viksit Bharat.

NEW DELHI. India has made strong progress in innovation, moving up to 38th rank in the Global Innovation Index 2025, from 66th in 2019, according to the Economic Survey. This improvement shows the steady growth of India’s innovation ecosystem, supported by government initiatives in manufacturing, research, startups and technology. India now leads among lower-middle-income countries in innovation and ranks first in the Central and Southern Asia region. Major cities like Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai are counted among the world’s top innovation hubs, and India’s overall innovation output has increased significantly.

The Economic Survey highlighted the key role of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme in strengthening domestic manufacturing, especially in mobile phone production. Many global companies now manufacture in India, making it a major production hub. By September 2025, investments under the PLI scheme crossed ₹2 lakh crore, resulting in production and sales worth over ₹18.70 lakh crore and creating jobs for more than 12.60 lakh people. India has also grown as a global leader in intellectual property, ranking high in patent, trademark and design filings, while making steady progress in the semiconductor sector with multiple projects approved across several states.

His presence marked a key moment in the strategic collaboration between the Government of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to strengthen India’s entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem.

Madhya Pradesh participated as a State Partner showcasing a curated startup delegation, engaged in B2B and B2G interactions, and contributed to knowledge-driven sessions aimed at accelerating technology-led and inclusive growth.

Trade and business flourish best when states work together, not in isolation. Under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, India today offers an equal platform for all states to grow. In just the last decade, we are moving steadily towards becoming the world’s third largest economy from fourth.”

Talking about Rajasthan’s vision Shri Prem Chand Bairwa, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Government of Rajasthan said “Our goal is to ensure that Rajasthan does not remain a state that looks for jobs, but becomes a state that creates employment. Through digital technologies, we are building a self-reliant, capable, and empowered Rajasthan”

If you shake hands today, you can be up and running within three months that is the level of confidence and speed we have built into the system.”

The discussion also featured companies and start ups whose representatives spoke about the Ease of Doing Business in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

• 69% of SMBs in India already use digital advertising, and another 27% plan to adopt it within three years.
• 57% of businesses reported a doubling or tripling of revenue since adopting online advertising.
• Nearly 80% of SMBs now use AI-enabled advertising tools, but cost, skills, and ecosystem complexity remain hurdles.

Bengaluru, 15th December 2025: Primus Partners unveiled its latest report, Empowering Small Businesses through Digital Advertising, a comprehensive study based on a survey of over 1,000 MSMEs and startups across India. The report underscores that digital advertising has become one of the most potent accelerators of small business growth, driving visibility, efficiency, and measurable returns at a scale previously inaccessible to smaller enterprises. The study shows that India’s SMB sector is undergoing a decisive shift embracing data-driven marketing, diversifying across platforms and formats, and increasingly adopting AI to optimise campaigns and reduce inefficiencies. Yet, even with this momentum, many small businesses continue to struggle with cost pressures, skill gaps, and the challenge of navigating an increasingly complex advertising ecosystem.

The findings reveal that SMBs are not only advertising more, they are advertising smarter. A majority use three to four platforms simultaneously, over 65% deploy multiple formats, and more than 90% actively monitor campaign performance using digital tools. As the digital marketplace grows more competitive, AI adoption has become nearly universal, with SMBs using intelligent tools for targeting, fraud detection, automation, and creative optimisation.

The study also highlights structural challenges that continue to restrain the full potential of SMBs. Limited budgets, absence of specialised talent, lack of IT infrastructure, and difficulty choosing the right mix of platforms and formats were cited as primary barriers. Over 70% of SMBs also expressed that the sheer variety of advertising options can be overwhelming, underscoring the need for simplified guidance and ecosystem support.

Commenting on the policy significance of the findings, Sunita Mohanty, Managing Director, Primus Partners, said, “India’s economy depends deeply on the vitality of its small businesses, and this report shows how digital advertising is becoming a key equaliser allowing them to compete with larger players and participate more meaningfully in national and global markets. What is remarkable is not just the high adoption rate, but the tangible impact: from doubling revenues to expanding across India and even reaching export markets. At the same time, small businesses are telling us clearly that they need simpler, more affordable, and more trustworthy digital pathways. This report is our effort to ensure their voices shape the next phase of India’s digital economy.”

The report concludes that India’s SMBs are transitioning from digital adopters to digital leaders, but need a more supportive ecosystem to unlock their full potential. It calls for strengthened public–private collaboration, targeted digital skilling initiatives, responsible AI frameworks, and broader access to affordable tools that can help small businesses grow with confidence, resilience, and transparency.
