Shri Sandeep Poundrik takes charge as Secretary, Ministry of Steel

Shri Sandeep Poundrik has today assumed charge as Secretary, Ministry of Steel, at Udyog Bhawan. He is a 1993-batch IAS officer from Bihar cadre. Upon his assumption of charge, he was welcomed by senior officers of the Ministry.

Shri Poundrik was holding the charge of Additional Chief Secretary in the Industries Department and also held additional charges of several other positions in the Government of Bihar. He had previously served as Advisor in the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) under the Ministry of Home Affairs and as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

पटना। मुख्यमंत्री नीतीष कुमार ने सोमावर को मुख्य सचिवालय परिसर में मॉलसी का पौधा लगाकर राज्यस्तरीय वन महोत्सव-2023 का उद्घाटन किया। उद्घाटन कार्यक्रम के बाद मुख्यमंत्री ने सिंचाई भवन के नवनिर्मिस बेसमेंट पार्किंग एरिया का भी निरीक्षण किया और अधिकारियों को आवश्यक निर्देश दिये। कार्यक्रम के बाद पत्रकारों से बात करते हुए मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि बिहार से झारखंड के अलग होने के बाद बिहार का हरित आवरण क्षेत्र नौ प्रतिशत ही रह गया था। हरित आवरण क्षेत्र बढ़ाने के लिए वर्ष 2012 से हमलोगों ंने पौधरोपण करना शरू किया। उसके बाद वर्ष 2019 में जल-जीवन-हरियाली अभियान की शुरुआत कराकर हमलोगोंं ने इसको और आगे बढ़ाया। राज्य का हरित आवरण क्षेत्र अब बढ़कर 15 प्रतिशत हो गया है। आज जो कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत की गई है उसके अंतर्गत दो माह के अंदर चार करोड़़ से अधिक पौधारोपण किया जाएगा। हम चाहते हैं कि राज्य का हरित आवरण क्षेत्र जल्द से जल्द 17 प्रतिशत हो जाए। बिहार का क्षेत्रफल कम है और यहां की आबादी घनी है। इसको ध्यान में रखते हुए हमलोग 17 प्रतिशत हरित आवरण क्षेत्र के लिए काम कर रहे हैं। पहले पेड़ों की कमी थी, लेकिन अब हर जगह पेड दिखने लगे हैं। इस काम में हमलोग लगे हुए हैं। विकास के जितने भी सरकार के कार्यक्रम हैं, उसको देखने के लिए हम घूमते रहते हैं और लोगों की राय भी सुनते हैं। जहां कहीं भी कमी दिखती है उसका समाधान करते हैं। जिस इलाके में जैसी आवश्यकता होती है उस अनुसार काम किया जाता है। हमलोग लगातार विकास के काम में लगे हुए हैं। कार्यक्रम में उपमुख्यमंत्री तेजस्वी प्रसाद यादव, पर्यावरण, वन एवं जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्री तेजप्रताप यादव, मुख्यमंत्री के प्रधान सचिव दीपक कुमार, मुख्य सचिव आमिर सुबहानी, मुख्यमंत्री के प्रधान सचिव डॉ. एस. सिद्धार्थ, पर्यावरण, वन एवं जलवायु परिवर्तन विभाग की सचिव बंदना प्रेयसी, भवन निर्माण विभाग के सचिव सह पटना प्रमंडल के आयुक्त कुमार रवि, मुख्यमंत्री के विशेष कार्य पदाधिकारी गोपाल सिंह, पटना के जिलाधिकारी चंद्रशेखर सिंह, वरीय पुलिस अधीक्षक राजीव मिश्रा सहित अन्य पदाधिकारी मौजूद थे।

Cabinet Secretary to monitor the situation with these States on daily basis

Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Dr. P. K. Mishra held a high level meeting this evening with the States of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi to tackle air pollution. The meeting comes in the wake of the increasing air pollution levels leading to an emergency like situation in the NCR.

The meeting reviewed the situation arising out of stubble burning, construction activities, burning of wastes and industrial and vehicular pollution. It has been decided that the Cabinet Secretary Shri Rajiv Guaba will watch the situation with these States . State Chief Secretaries have been asked to check the situation in the districts on 24×7 basis.

The Centre has also asked the neighbouring states to cut fire incidents and dust levels due to adverse meteorological conditions in the last three days. Chief Secretaries of the states provided details about the actions being taken by them to improve the situation.

About 300 teams have been deployed in the field in the national capital to tackle the challenge of air pollution. Main focus is on 7 Industrial Clusters and major traffic corridors in the NCR. Similar arrangements have also been made by Punjab and Haryana and necessary machinery has been provided in the states.

Today’s meeting is in continuation of the meeting held by Principal Secretary to Prime Minister on 24th of October, 2019. The States had assured that the necessary measures will be put in place at the earliest. Centre held a series of meetings for necessary preparations to tackle the pollution problem since the high level review meeting by the Cabinet Secretary on 4th October, 2019.

Today’s meeting was attended by the Principal Advisor to the Prime Minister Shri P. K. Sinha, Cabinet Secretary, Secretary, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Secretary, Agriculture, Chairman, Central Pollution Control Board, Director General of India Meteorological Department and Chief Secretaries of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi along with other senior officials.
