										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><b>Sanctoria, March 10, 2026:</b> ECL marked the International Women’s Day 2026 with a series of initiatives focused on health awareness, digital safety, education and community engagement across its operational areas.</p>
<p>The main programme, organised by the Women in Public Sector (WIPS) ECL on March 9, centred on the theme “Give to Gain” and the global campaign “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls.” The event was attended by CMD, ECL Shri Satish Jha, Director (Technical/OP) Shri Niladri Roy, Director (HR) Shri Gunjan Kumar Sinha along with President, Shatakshi Mahila Mandal Smt. Kiran Jha, Vice-President, Shatakshi Mahila Mandal Smt. Sanchita Roy and Vice-President, Shatakshi Mahila Mandal Smt. Anubha Sinha and members of their families, among others.</p>
<p>A motivational session highlighted leadership, confidence and resilience among women, while an awareness programme on cybersecurity was conducted by the Cyber Crime Cell, Kolkata, in association with the Subhas Chandra Bose Scholarship Foundation, underlining the growing importance of digital safety.</p>
<p>Cultural performances by women employees from different Areas of ECL were part of the celebration, reflecting India’s diverse cultural traditions and the company’s workforce&#8217;s participation.</p>
<p>In the lead-up to the celebrations, WIPS ECL organised a two-day special health camp for women employees at Sanctoria Hospital on March 5th and 6th, offering preventive health screening including hemoglobin, blood sugar, calcium, thyroid profile (TSH), vitamin D tests, bone density examination, general health consultation and gynaecological screening including Pap smear.</p>
<p>Ahead of the occasion, awareness programmes were conducted at Sodepur Colliery High School and Parbelia Colliery High School, covering adolescent health, menstrual hygiene, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), gynaecological cancers and cyber safety. Approximately 150 students participated in the sessions.</p>
<p>At Pandaveswar Area, ECL’s Medical Department organised a cancer awareness programme on March 7 for women employees and nearby residents in association with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Cancer Institute, Kolkata, and The Mission Hospital, Durgapur. The programme included sessions on breast and cervical cancer awareness, early detection and prevention, along with a health screening camp offering blood glucose testing, anaemia screening, blood pressure testing and oxygen saturation testing.</p>
<p>International Women’s Day was also observed at the Satgram-Sripur Branch on March 8 at Nazrul Manch, Kopex Colony, where members of Shatakshi Mahila Mandal, Dishergarh, participated in activities including a Rangoli competition themed “Give to Gain”. The programme highlighted the year’s focus on guidance, financial awareness, and support systems for women.</p>
<p>The programme was successfully coordinated by Manager (E&amp;T) ECL, WIPS Coordinator at ECL- Smt. Shrabani Choudhury. The initiatives across ECL’s areas brought together employees, medical professionals, students and community members, underscoring the company’s efforts to promote health awareness, education and empowerment among women.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), proudly organized the Final Day Celebration of the Annual Mines Safety Week – 2025 on 06th March 2026 at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Asansol, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to building a safer and more responsible mining ecosystem.</p>
<p>The occasion celebrated the collective dedication of mining professionals towards safety excellence. Winners from various categories of Mines, PME Centres, and VT Centres of ECL, along with private mines operated by WBSEDCL, SAIL, CESC, and DPL, were honoured for their outstanding performance during the Annual Mines Safety Week &#8211; 2025 held from 17th to 22nd November 2025. The awards recognized exceptional contributions towards strengthening safety practices and promoting sustainable mining operations.<br />
The event was graced by Shri Ujjwal Tah, Director General (DG), Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) as the Chief Guest, while Shri Satish Jha, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, ECL, presided over the function. The programme was further honoured by the presence of Shri Supriyo Chakraborty, Deputy Director General (DGMS – Eastern Zone) and Shri Muralidhar Bidari, Deputy Director General (DGMS – Central Zone) as Guests of Honour.</p>
<p>The celebration witnessed the gracious presence of Functional Directors of ECL including Shri Niladri Roy, Director (Technical) (Operations); Md. Anzar Alam, Director (Finance); Shri Gunjan Kumar Sinha, Director (HR) and Shri Girish Gopinathan Nair, Director (Technical) (Project &amp; Planning) along with Concerned Officials from the DGMS (Eastern &amp; Central Zones), Members of the Corporate Safety Board representing various Trade Unions, Area General Managers, HoDs of ECL Headquarters, Agents, Managers, and employees from ECL Mines, VT Centres, and PME Centres, as well as representatives from private mining companies. The enthusiastic participation of female employees on this occasion reflected the growing and significant role of women in the advancement of the mining fraternity.</p>
<p>The programme commenced with the Hoisting of the Safety Flag by the Chief Guest, symbolizing ECL’s enduring commitment to Zero Harm and safe mining practices. This was followed by inspection of stalls, where innovative mining models and ideas were presented by different Areas of ECL as well as participating organizations, namely WBPDCL, and CESC, highlighting Technological Innovation, Hazard Prevention, and Environmentally responsible mining practices.</p>
<p>With safety as its core value and cornerstone of sustainable growth, Eastern Coalfields Limited remains dedicated to creating a culture where every worker returns home safely. The Final Day Celebration of Annual Mines Safety Week – 2025 stands as a powerful reminder of ECL’s vision – a safer, smarter, and more responsible future for the mining industry.</p>
