Employees of Mines Central Coordination and SMS-II awarded under SAIL, Shabash Scheme

10 employees including executives of Mines Central Coordination were awarded under ‘SAIL Shabash’ scheme for their innovative endeavours at a function held at conference hall of ED (Mines) Office on 29^th March 2025. Mr M P Singh, ED(Mines) presided over the function and handed over the awards. Present in the occasion were, Mr. Anand Kumar, CGM (Mines-Projects), Mr. Tilak Pattanaik, GM (Operations), Mr. P K Rai, GM (TA- EDMines), Mr. S Basak, GM (Mines-Central Cordination), Mr. S Badapanda, GM (HR-OD) and other Officers of the Department. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Manoranjan Sahoo.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Singh commended the efforts of the awardees in catalyzing overall performance of Odisha Group of Mines and urged all to continue giving in their best to keep pace with the overall production performance of the plant.

The recipients of the award in Category –II were Dr. Rajesh Kumar Naik, DGM, Mr. B S S Biswal, AGM, Mr. Jayant Kumar Mishra, AGM, Mr. Manoranjan Sahoo, Assistant Manager and Mr. Ramesh Chandra Patra, (Mines Cordinator IGH).

The employees awarded under Category – I were Mr. Sibabrata Basak, GM, Mr. Gunjan Anand, AGM, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Mishra, Senior Executive Assistant, ED (Mines) Secretariat, Mr. Uday Sankar, Senior Technician and Mr. Bhagaban Pradhan, Technician cum Operator.

Similarly in Steel Melting Shop-II, 46 employees were awarded under SAIL Shabash awards, Category-2 for their exemplary and innovative endeavors. In a function arranged on 31^st March 2025 at SMS-II conference hall, Mr. T P Sivasankar, CGM, SMS-II, handed over the letters of appreciation along with a memento to the awardees. Present on the occasion were Mr. M G Srikanth, GM In Charge (Mechanical), Mr. Ajit Ku Das, GM I/c(Operation), Mr. P Pranay, GM In Charge (Electrical), Mr. D Pattnaik, DGM (HR) and other senior officers of the SMS-II department.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sivasankar, appreciated the efforts of the awardees for their commitment to innovation, efficiency and operational excellence. He emphasized the importance of such innovation in driving continuous improvement and promoting a culture of excellence within the department.

Nine employees including executives of different Departments coming under the purview of Executive Director (Human Resource) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) were awarded under ‘SAIL Shabash’ Scheme for their innovative endeavors at a function held in the Samadhan Conference Hall of ED (HR) Secretariat, on 11^th March, 2025. Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR) presided over the function and handed over the awards. Present on the occasion were, Dr. Chinmoy Samajdar, CGM (Law), Mr. B K Jojo, CGM (Town Engineering & Horticulture), Mr. S N Panda, CGM (HR) and all senior officers of the Department.

Forty-Two employees of Material Management Department (MM) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) were awarded under ‘SAIL Shabash’ Scheme for their innovative endeavors at a function held at Learning and Development department on 7^th February, 2025. Mr. B Palai, ED (Works) was the Chief Guest while Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM) was the Guest of Honour in the function. Present on the occasion were Mr. Rajiv Sehgal, CGM (MM), Mr. N R Roychoudhury, GM In-charge (MM-Stores), other Officers and Employees of the Department.

The awardees were recognized for their commendable contributions in administrative management, inventory control, procurement, process improvements, cost reduction, and logistics management. Their key achievements included timely execution of critical tasks, efficient material handling, and implementation of process enhancements such as QR code systems and SAP integration. Noteworthy contributions made in cost savings included reducing non-moving inventory, optimizing yard storage, and repurposing materials for savings. Several other efforts significantly enhanced material availability, reduced lead times, and improved supply chain efficiency.

At the outset Mr. Mr. N R Roychoudhury welcomed the gathering while Mr. Ajay Shukla, GM (MM) proposed a formal vote of thanks. Ms. Anindita Mohapatra, DGM (MM) coordinated the function.

Personnel of Projects & Modernisation awarded under the ‘SAIL Shabash’ Scheme

In a function held at the ED (Projects) Conference hall of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 22^nd January, 2025, 25 personnel including executives from Projects & Modernization department were awarded under the SAIL Shabash Scheme for their commendable jobs. Mr. Sudip Pal Choudhury, ED (Projets) presided over the function and handed over the awards to the employees. Present on the occasion were Mr. Aneesh Jamaiyar, CGM (Projects), Mr. Pinaki Choudhury, CGM (Projects & Modernisation) and other senior officers of the plant. The awards included 7 awards under category-2 and remaining 18 awards under category-1 of the recognition scheme.

Mr. Pal Choudhury appreciated the sincere efforts of the employees and encouraged them to continue to work with similar zest.

Some of the key jobs for which the personnel’s contributions were recognized included Phase-II shutdown jobs of Caster-IV project, Resolution of dispute in the matter of M/s. Shriram EPC Ltd and SAIL- Rourkela Steel Plant through OEC, Developing transparency and ensuring adherence to rules & regulations, legal framework, First pushing of COB#2 Project, Completion of MSDS-VI activities, Efficiently settling bills of vendors, Order placement of COB#7 Projects.

The award giving function was coordinated by Mr. Nirmal Mahato, Senior Manager (Projects & MOD).

In a function held at the Blast Furnace-5 Administrative Building Conference Hall of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant on 11^th January, 2025, 14 employees including executives of the Department were awarded under ‘SAIL Shabash’ Scheme for their commendable jobs. Mr. Atish Chandra Sarkar, CGM (Iron) presided over the function and handed over the awards in the presence of Mr. Sumit Kumar, CGM (Blast Furnaces). Also present on the occasion were Mr. S Deb, GM, BF (Mechanical), Mr. K B Prasad, GM, BF (Electrical), Mr. S. K. Sharma, GM, BF (Operation) and other Senior officers of the Department.

Mr. Sarkar appreciated the sincere efforts of the employees and encouraged them to continue to work with similar zest.

It is worth mentioning here that the employees were awarded for Commissioning of Mixed Gas enrichment at stoves of BF-1, Modification of U-Seal – 1 of BF gas line at BF-5, Installation of Audio-Visual alarm system for gas leak at U-Seal area of BF-5 gas line, Implementation of 6 skip charging system at BF-1 to enhance production, Identification of Hot Spot on Blow Pipe on 25th Nov’2024 and take corrective action and Silencer cleaning activities at Waste Gas heat Recovery System.

In a function held at the CGM Office of Production Planning & Control (PP&C) Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), 6 employees including four executives of the Department were awarded under ‘SAIL Shabash’ Scheme for their commendable jobs. Mrs. Sunita Singh, CGM (PP&C) presided over the function and handed over the awards. Many Senior officers of the Department were present on the occasion.

The awardees were Mr. Dhiren Kumar Samal,AGM, Mr. Tapas Ranjan Sahu, Deputy Manager, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Nayak, Deputy Manager, Mr. Saroj Kumar Sahoo, Deputy Manager, Mr. Bijoy Kumar Mandal and Mr. Samiran Ray, both Master Technicians. Mr. Jayant Kumar Das, Senior Manager, HR coordinated the function.

In yet another function held at CGM In-Charge (Services) Office, Mr. MNVS Prabhakar, CGM In-Charge (Services) presented Shabash awards to six employees including four executives for their superlative performance in their respective areas. Many senior officers of the department were present on the occasion.

The awardees were Ms. Sharmistha Behera, Master Technician and Mr Sanjay Kumar Mohanty, Senior Manager from CC(W), Ms Subrata Gochhayat, OCT, Mr Pravat Kumar Bhuyan, AGM, and Mr. Anam Charan Behera, Senior Manager from CE(S) and Mr Ramesh Chandra Mishra, Senior Manager (MRD). The function was coordinated by Mr. Pancham Prasad, GM (Tech) (Services).

In a similar function organized at Safety Conference Hall Ms. Asha Kartha, CGM (Safety & Fire) presented awards to 6 employees including executives from Safety Engineering Department and Fire Service Department. Mr. J B Pattnaik, GM In-Chage (Fire Service), Mr. Abakasha Behera, GM (Fire Services), Senior Officers of both the departments were present on the occasion. In a function held at Conference Hall of Hot Strip Mill-2 Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant on 14^th December, 27 employees including three executives of the Department were awarded under ‘SAIL Shabash’ Scheme for their commendable jobs. Mr. Subrat Kumar, CGM (HSMs & Auxilliaries) presided over the function and handed over the awards. Present on the occasion were Mr. R Kujur, GM (HSM-2 Electrical), Mr. D K Yadav, GM (HSM-2 Operations), Mr. S Kanungo, GM (HSM-2 Mechanical) and senior officers of the Department.

Some on the major contributions made by the awardees were finding the root cause of FM Mill stoppage, efficient coordination of stores and planning work for smooth capital repair jobs, RHF scale cleaning in record time, electrical circuit modification, modification of pellet conveyor etc. Mr. Anup Agarwal, Senior Manager (HSM-2) coordinated the function.

In another function held recently in the HR Conference Hall, Mr. S N Panda, CGM (HR) awarded the SAIL Shabash awards to 10 employees including one executive for smooth conduct of the Trade Union election. Present on the occasion were Dr. PK Sahu, GM In-Charge (HR-CF), Mr. S Badpanda, GM (HR-OD), Mr. R K Verma, GM (HR-ER, C, HA & Airport), Mr. G R Dash, GM (HR) and other senior officers of the department.

Director In-Charge presents ‘SAIL Shabash’ awards to Senior Executives of Rourkela Steel Plant

Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge (DIC) has presented awards under the ‘SAIL Shabash Scheme’ to five Executives of the Plant for commendable contributions in their respective areas.

The awards were presented in a special award function organized at the ‘Manthan’ conference hall of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 4^th December, 2024. Notably, it was for the first time that DIC level Shabash awards were presented in RSP. The award carried a Certificate and a gift voucher worth Rs. 10,000/- . Mr. Tarun Misra, ED(HR), Mr. Alok Verma, ED In-Charge (Works), Mr. Biswa Ranjan Palai, ED (Operation), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines) and Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects) were also present on the occasion. The recipients of the award are Mr. M G Srikanth, GM, SMS-2 (Mechanical), Mr. Subrat Kanungo, GM, HSM-2 (Mechanical), Mrs. Archana Satpathy, GM (PR) & CoC, and Dr. Avijit Biswas, DGM (Horticulture) & In-charge, ZDP.

Earlier in a separate function organized at the Office of the DIC on 30^th November, Mr. Atanu Bhowmick had presented the SAIL Shabash award to Mr. Gaurav Arora, the then DGM at DIC’s Secretariat.

In his address, Mr. Bhowmick commended the winners for their dedication and encouraged them to continue to do the good work. He also emphasized on integrity, team work, and ability to bring in change as the essential factors that would ultimately make the organization sustainable. Congratulating the winners, Mr. Tarun Misra, Mr. Alok Verma, Mr. B R Palai, Mr. Anil Kumar, Mr. M P Singh and Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury emphasized on the importance of self motivation, which keeps people contribute their best all the time.

10 Employees of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) comprising of different departments under Centralised Mechanical (Maintenance) were awarded under ‘SAIL Shabash’ Scheme for their innovative endeavors at a function held at CGM(Mechanical) office on 21st November, 2024. Mr. R.N.Rajendran, CGM(Mechanical) handed over the awards to employees. Present on the occasion were Mr. A. Mallick ,GM In-Charge [FM(M) &Transport] , Mr. A. Ghosh, GM, MS (S) , Mr. S. S. Paul, GM, FM (M) , Mr. J. K. Das, Senior Manager (HR), and other Senior Officers of the plant. Mr. Rajendran appreciated the innovative endeavours of the award winners and urged all to emulate the same. Notably, six employees of FM(M),two employees of MS(S) and two employees of Transport Department received the award.
