										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) through its CSR initiatives has continued to strengthen community infrastructure through a series of development initiatives undertaken during the last quarter i.e April to June 2026. Focusing on education, community welfare, drinking water, healthcare and livelihood promotion, the department has made significant progress in improving civic amenities and enhancing the quality of life in peripheral villages as well as within the Steel Township.</p>
<p>As part of its commitment to promoting quality education, construction of two additional classrooms at Barkani Primary School in Bisra Block is progressing steadily. Community Centres are being constructed at Birwal in Lathikata Block and at Kadamtola, Udusu in Bisra Block. During the quarter, a newly constructed Community Centre at Santospur in Bisra Block was inaugurated, creating a dedicated space for community gatherings, awareness programmes and social activities.</p>
<p>Borewells were successfully installed and commissioned at Lindra, Kadobahal and Jaidega villages, ensuring a reliable source of potable water for local residents.</p>
<p>Simultaneously, development works at Model Steel Villages (MSV) Centres at Baniguni and Chikatamati Health Centre are progressing, aimed at strengthening skill development and community welfare initiatives.</p>
<p>Development and strengthening of durable community assets and improving essential civic infrastructure in the region would help bringing about inclusive growth and sustainable development.</p>

<p>In a function organised at Institute for Peripheral Development, of CSR Deptt on 8th   May, 2026, Mr. B Sunil Kartha, CGM (SMS-I) presented dummy cheques to few students, with the money being transferred online to the account of the students. Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM In-charge (CSR), Mr. R S Bara, DGM (CSR) and other officials of RSP were present on the occasion.</p>

<p>The students have been selected on the basis of their results in examinations for the academic year 2024-25. There were total 203 students from 66 High Schools and 454 students from 150 UP Schools.</p>
<p>The first, second and third position holders among the boys as well as girls of each school were given Rs 3000/- , Rs 2000/- and Rs 1000/- respectively . Total Rs. 13.13 lakh was disbursed towards the scholarship.</p>
<p>In his address, Mr. Kartha highlighted the multifarious CSR initiatives of RSP for the holistic development of the peripheral populace. He urged the students to make the best use of the scholarship and pursue their academic goals with single-minded devotion.</p>
<p>At the outset Ms. Mittra welcomed the gathering while Mr. R S Bara proposed a formal vote of thanks. Mr. B Ekka, Section Officer (CSR) coordinated the function.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As part of the ongoing <em>Swachhata Pakhwada 2026</em><i>,</i> the CSR Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) organised a Gram Sabha at Tainsor village under Lathikata Block on 25<sup>th</sup> March, 2026 to promote awareness on cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation among the local community.</p>
<p>Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM I/c (CSR), SAIL, RSP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Present on the occasion were Mr. Bibhabasu Malik, GM (CSR); Mr. R. S. Bara, DGM (CSR); Mr. P. Sahoo, DGM (CSR); Mr. S. K. Sukula, DM (CSR), and members of the CSR team. A special team from IGH including Ms. Sandhyarani Dash, Clinical Psychologist and Ms. Rahil Topno, Infection Control Nurse was also present on the occasion. A large number of villagers gathered to attend the Gram Sambha.</p>

<p>Addressing the gathering, Ms. M. Mittra stressed the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in building a healthy society. She encouraged villagers to adopt hygienic practices in their day-to-day lives and highlighted the collective responsibility of individuals and communities in sustaining a clean environment.</p>
<p>Ms. Sandhyarani Dash, spoke on the psychological aspects of hygiene and sanitation and emphasized how clean surroundings contribute to improved mental and physical well-being. Ms. Rahil Topno, explained the importance of maintaining cleanliness in daily life and demonstrated simple hygiene practices that can help prevent diseases.</p>

<p>An engaging <em>Nukkad Natak</em> (street play) based on the theme of Swachhata was also staged during the programme, which effectively conveyed the message of hygiene and sanitation in an entertaining and relatable manner. The performance received an enthusiastic response from the villagers.</p>
