In the morning Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge (DIC) along with Mr. B K Giri, ED (Mines Dev. CLMO), Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Works), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines), Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects), Dr. Jayanta Kumar Acharya, CMO In-Charge (M&amp;HS), Mr. T G Kanekar, CGM (TS &amp; CSR), with other senior officers of RSP as well as Mr. Bhagaban Sethy, President and other representatives of  SAIL, SC &amp;ST Employees Federation paid floral tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar at Sector-17 Ambedkar enclave.</p>

<p>Thereafter, a grand function was organised at Civic Centre to mark the occasion. Mr. Alok Verma was the Chief Guest of the function while, Dr. Abhiram Biswal, Eminent Educationist and Former HoD, BJB College Bhubaneswar was the Chief Speaker. Executive Directors, CGMs and many other senior officers of RSP and a large number of members of SAIL, SC &amp;ST Employees Federation and students as well as parents were present on the occasion.</p>
<p>The dignitaries paid floral tributes at the portrait of Dr. B R Ambedkar and inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.</p>

<p>In his address, the Director In-Charge described Dr. Ambedkar as a visionary leader and champion of equality and human dignity. Highlighting RSP’s commitment to inclusivity, he said “The Plant’s true strength lies not just in steel production but in the diversity and unity of its workforce, rooted in meritocracy and dignity”. He spoke in detail about RSP’s outreach initiatives like health camps, scholarship schemes, skill development, women’s empowerment, and community participation in events like the Rourkela Half Marathon 2026. The DIC urged everyone to imbibe the values espoused by Dr. Ambedkar and work collectively towards building a more inclusive and equitable nation.</p>

<p>Mr. Biswal in his address remarked that the birth of B. R. Ambedkar was akin to a rebirth for every Indian citizen, as it marked the moment when people of India truly became citizens with equal status and rights. Quoting the powerful thoughts of Baba Saheb the speaker emphasized the deep social impact of his ideas and writings, which continue to shape Indian society. Concluding the address, Mr. Biswal underscored that Dr. Ambedkar was a strong advocate of industrial growth, and institutions like Rourkela Steel Plant stand as a testament to that vision.</p>
<p>The winners of the elocution competitions organised earlier namely, Subhalaxmi Sahoo,  student of SSRVM Ispat Vidya Mandir, Anuska Singh, student of Dr. AN Khosla DAV Public School, Basanti Colony and Linasha Sahoo, student of  St. Paul’s School spoke about the legendary statesman Baba Saheb Ambedkar in Odia,  Hindi and English respectively.</p>
<p>Later the dignitaries presented awards to the winners of the elocution and various other competitions organised among the employees and the school students.</p>
<p>Earlier, Mr. Manas Ranjan Rath, CGM (HR) welcomed the gathering. An invocation song was presented by Mr. Gaurang Mallick and his troupe. The eventful morning was enlivened by mesmerising dance performances.</p>
<p>Mr. S C Parichha, Deputy Manager (HR – Town &amp; Medical) and General Secretary SAIL, SC/ST Federation, proposed a vote of thanks. Mr. Chandrabhanu Munda, Deputy Manager (SP-II) and President (Media &amp; coordination) of SAIL, SC/ST Federation coordinated the programme, while Ms. Sangeeta Maria Sindur, Senior Manager (HR-CLC) was the master of ceremony.</p>

<p>The team of doctors of RSP who examined the patients were Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Sahu (Surgery), Dr. Divya (O&amp;G), Dr. Debashish Ray (Medicine), Dr. K Konia (Pediatrics), Dr. Gautam Dash (ENT) and Mr. Rajnish Baghel (Optometrist).  They were assisted by Mr. Lingaraj Pradhan (CPSK), Ms. Sanchary Patnaik (Pharmacist) and Mr. B K Mohapatra, CSR Coordinator.</p>

<p>201 patients were examined in the camp and were provided free medicines and consultation. Besides, 8 patients were identified for further treatment at Ispat General Hospital under various CSR schemes.</p>
<p>It is worth mentioning here that the Medical camps are being organised by RSP in peripheral villages not only reach out to the people living in remote villages but also extend expensive surgical interventions for free treatment at IGH to the identified people suffering from grave ailments.</p>

<p>In the Executive category, Ms. Khushboo Mishra, Senior Manager (R &amp; C Laboratory) secured the first position, followed by Ms. Kavita Bisoyi, Senior Manager (Contract Cell) in the second position, and Ms. Prangya P. Nath, Assistant Manager (Safety Engineering) in the third position.</p>
<p>It is worth mentioning here that My RSP-My Identity, an unique initiative that  encourages employees to share their positive thoughts, emotions and experience of being part of the organisation. As per this initiative, employees are required to write at least one complete sentence of positive thoughts about RSP everyday over a span of 15 days.</p>
<p>In the 7<sup>th</sup> edition of the competition that was launched on 1<sup>st</sup> January and continued till 15<sup>th</sup> January 2026, 2972 employees of made entries in RSP PORTAL- EMPLOYEE ZONE link OR MOBILE APP KARMI-MITRA.</p>
<p>A Committee of senior officers evaluated the responses online and submitted their marks on daily basis.</p>
<p>The objective of the initiative is to strengthen the connect of the employees with the organization and making them the brand ambassadors of the company.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) observed the 77th Republic Day of India amidst patriotic fervour. More than 2000 students and employees of RSP took part in the celebrations organised at Ispat Stadium that was witnessed by thousands of Rourkelites.</p>
<p>Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge, RSP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took the salute at an impressive march past to the tune of Gyan Jyoti Public School Band by 61 contingents. Scouts, Guides, Combat and Civilian troupes from various educational institutions of the City, troupes from CISF including RSP’s Fire Services, Nurses Training Institute and SAIL Hockey Academy added colour to the splendid march past. The team of students of Delhi Public School presented the national anthem. Mr. Ratan Kumar, DIG, CISF was present on the dais.</p>

<p>In his Republic Day address, the Director In-Charge said that the spirit of patriotism resonated across the Steel City on the occasion. He highlighted the 150<sup>th</sup> anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’, the iconic composition that inspired India’s freedom struggle, and underscored Odisha’s pioneering role in the movement including the historic Paika Rebellion of 1817, martyrs like Veer Baji Rout, as well as the legendary freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai.</p>
<p>Quoting the inspiring words of Odisha’s legendary freedom fighter, Ramadevi, that “Freedom is meaningful only when women stand equal to men,” the DIC highlighted that the Rourkela Half Marathon witnessed a remarkable participation of women, accounting for nearly 30% of the runners.</p>

<p>The DIC congratulated each and every employee of RSP and all other stakeholders for the outstanding achievements in calendar year 2025 which saw strings of records, new benchmarks and newer products enriching the product basket.</p>
<p>“Viksit Bharat &#8211; 2047 is the shared dream and responsibility of all 140 crore Indians. From this land of Rourkela, where steel is made to strengthen the Nation, let us give our absolute best through our energy, innovation, and integrity, so that our country touches the pinnacle of self-reliance,” the DIC added.</p>
<p>The DIC also presented Ati utkrishtha and Utkrishtha awards to CISF Personnel, Jawahar Awards, RSP Gaurab Awards, and the best performing contingents award on this occasion.</p>
<p>A similar function was held at Sector-22 Mini Stadium, in which Mr. Verma unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took the salute at the colourful march past presented by 36 contingents. He also presented awards to the best contingents of the Republic Day parade. The DIC also declared a special award of Rs. 10,000/- each to Junior Boys Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, Kainthabasa and Girls team of Birsa Munda Adarsha High School for their beautiful March past.  The Band platoon of SSRV Ispat English Medium School, Sector- 22 presented the band on this occasion.</p>
<p>Present on  the occasions were Mrs. Namrata Verma, President (Deepika Mahila Sanghati), Mr. B K Giri, ED (MD-CMLO), Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Works), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines), Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury ED (Projects), Mrs. Smita Giri, Dr. (Mrs.) Pratigna Palai, Mrs. Reeta Rani, Mrs. Bandana Singh, Mrs. Navaneeta Pal Chowdhury, all Vice President of Deepika Mahila Sanghati and other senior officers of RSP and  a large number of spectators. The programmes were organised by the Social Welfare wing of RSP in association with other departments of RSP.</p>
<p>A similar function was organized by Deepika Mahila Sanghati at Deepika Jagriti Sansthan, Sector-2 to celebrate Republic Day. Mrs. Namrata Verma hoisted the National Flag in the presence of the Vice Presidents, and  office bearers of the Sanghati.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A connecting bridge ‘Ekata Setu’ connecting Biju Pattnaik Hockey Stadium, Sector-5 and Ispat Stadium, Sector-6 was inaugurated by Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR), RSP on 21<sup>st</sup> January, 2026 ahead of the Rourkela Half Marathon being organised by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). Mr. B K Jojo, CGM (TE &amp; Horticulture), Mr. D K Palo, CGM (Mechanical), Mr. T G Kanekar, CGM (TS &amp; CSR), many other Senior Officers and a large number of employees were present on the occasion.</p>
<p>Notably, the 34-metre bridge will provide smooth passage for the participants as well as dignitaries to Ispat Stadium which is the venue of the Mega Sporting Event to be held on 24<sup>th</sup> January, 2026. The Structural &amp; Fabrication Shop with support from Design Department and Civil Engineering (Services) Department has safely erected the massive structure using in-house resources. Around 12 tons structural have been fabricated in the bridge. The in-house effort has resulted not only in saving substantial cash outflow, but also showcases the technical expertise and collaborative effort of RSP collective.</p>

<p>With more than 5,800 runners from across the country expected to participate in the mega sporting event, elaborate arrangements are being put in place to ensure easy access, seamless movement and smooth conduct of the marathon. Adequate infrastructural facilities and coordinated efforts of various departments are ensuring that the event is conducted in an efficient and well-organised manner. Banners displaying detailed route charts have been installed at strategic locations to inform commuters about road closures and alternate traffic routes.</p>
<p>For the smooth conduct of the event, some major roads of the city will remain temporarily closed from 12:00 midnight of 23rd January (Friday) to 12:00 noon of 24th January (Saturday). During this period, the following routes will remain completely closed to traffic: Sector-6 BSNL Chowk to Ispat Stadium; Ispat Stadium to Sector-4 Madhuban Chowk; Madhuban Chowk to Ambagan Chowk; and Airport to Airport Chowk via Ring Road up to the Estate Office. However, till 6:00 a.m. on 24th January, and thereafter only in cases of medical emergencies, pedestrians will be permitted to cross at DPS Chowk, Sector-7/17 Chowk, Rourkela Club Chowk and Sector-5 Maintenance Booth Chowk. The students who are appearing JEE Main Entrance Examination and have Padmanav College as examination centre can reach the venue by using the road connecting Traffic Tower Chowk –Pantha Nivas- Sector-5 Trainees Hostel (Along with the IG park Boundary). The general public is requested to plan their travel accordingly, use alternate routes during this period and cooperate in making the event a grand success.</p>

<p>During the visit, the DIC reviewed the drinking water facilities being provided to the residents of the resettlement colony and assessed their effectiveness in improving the quality of life for the local community. The DIC also visited the Training-cum-Production Centre (TCPC) at Jalda, established under the CSR initiative of RSP in association with Usha Silai and Gram Utthan. He interacted with the women working at the centre, appreciated their efforts in skill development and livelihood generation, and assured all possible support for the continued success of such initiatives. Thereafter he visited the Jalda football ground to encourage sports and youth engagement in the region.</p>
<p>The visit reaffirmed RSP’s commitment towards community welfare and sustainable development in the peripheral areas.</p>

Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM) presided over the function and presented the awards along with Mr. T Vinod, CGM (MM), and Mr. Ajay Shukla, GM In-charge (Marketing) presented awards to 15 personnel of MM department   in recognition of their exemplary performance in respective areas.</p>
<p>Congratulating the award winners Mr. Anil Kumar appreciated their dedication, professionalism and commitment towards achieving departmental and organizational goals. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, innovation and accountability in strengthening the Materials Management function and contributing to the overall growth of the organization.</p>
<p>It is noteworthy that a total of 11 employees received award under Category I. The recipients of the category II award are Mr Anselm Omden Namchu, GM (MM), Mr Manish Kumar Dhakad, Senior Manager (Store), Mr. Akshaya Kumar Sethy, Deputy Manager (Marketing) and  Mr Tapan Kumar Naik, Deputy Manager (Purchase).</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In a function held at the Chintan Conference Hall of Finance &amp; Accounts (F&amp;A) of SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), on 5<sup>th</sup> January, 2026 nine persons of Department were  awarded under ‘SAIL Shabash’ Scheme for their innovative endeavours. <strong>Mr. Rajesh Dasgupta, CGM (F&amp;A) with additional charge of ED (F&amp;A)</strong> presided over the function and handed over the awards. <strong>Many </strong><strong>senior officers and staff of the department were present on the occasion.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Congratulating the awardees, Mr. Dasgupta lauded their commitment, innovation and contribution towards improving departmental efficiency and encouraged others to emulate their efforts.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Ms. Sushmit Kaur, Deputy Manager (F&amp;A), Mr. Amin Tandi, section Officer and Mr. Karunakar Ray, Administrative Associate received the award under the Category-II of SAIL Shabash Scheme while Mr. D K Mohanty, Senior Manager, Mr. P K Parida, Section Officer, Mr. T K Pasayat, Section Associate, Mr. P P Behera, Administrative Associate, Mr. Sanyasi Tandia, Administrative Associate and Ms. Anima Acharya, Administrative Associate were awarded under the Category-I of SAIL Shabash Award Scheme.    </strong></p>
<p><strong>Mr. S R Behera, GM (F&amp;A) coordinated the programme.</strong></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Mr. Sandeep Poundrik, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India held an interaction session with the executives of SAIL’s Odisha Group of Mines (OGoM) and Jharkhand Group of Mines (JGoM) at Gopabandhu Auditorium of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 7<sup>th</sup> January, 2026. Mr. Amarendu Prakash, Chairman and Managing Director, SAIL, Mr. Abhijeet Narendra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India, Mr. Manish Raj Gupta, Director (Technical, Projects &amp; Raw Materials) SAIL with additional Charge of CMD, RINL and Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge, RSP were present on the dais. The interaction session aimed at preparing and implementing roadmap for achieving 100 MTPA iron ore production from the mines of SAIL by 2031. Around 400 executives from Mines and RSP attended the session.</p>

<p>Addressing the gathering, Mr. Poundrik said that with the Government of India’s strong focus on enhancing domestic steel production, the Indian steel market is witnessing rapid expansion, leading to a corresponding increase in demand for iron ore. “This presents a significant opportunity for SAIL to leverage its vast mining capabilities by enhancing production, improving operational efficiencies and adopting modern mining technologies,” he added. Emphasising the critical role of individuals across all levels, Mr. Poundrik urged the collective to instil a sense of pride and ownership in order to set new benchmarks of excellence.</p>
<p>Mr. Amarendu Prakash, in his address, said that when the need is strong, outcomes inevitably follow. “When Dreams transform into plans, and once plans are in place, progress begins itself,” he added.</p>

<p>Mr. Vikas Manwati, ED (JGoM) made a detailed presentation on ‘SAIL@100MTPA Iron ore-Risks, Readiness and the Way forward’ on the occasion. The Secretary (Steel) reviewed the performance, bottlenecks and future road maps of each of the mines and emphasised upon optimal utilisation of the mineralised area. He also stressed upon expediting the timeframe for implementation of projects.</p>
<p>Earlier, Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines, OGoM-CMLO) welcomed the gathering. Mr. Malla Srinivasu, CGM (BOM-CMLO) proposed a formal vote of thanks.</p>
<p>It is noteworthy that Mr. Poundrik accompanied by the Senior Officers arrived at Rourkela in the morning before proceeding to the interaction session. He was accorded a guard of honour at the airport by the RSP CISF unit.</p>
<p>The visiting dignitaries returned to New Delhi in the afternoon. A Guard of Honour was presented to the Secretary Steel at Rourkela House before departure.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="center"><b>-Caster-4 of Steel Melting Shop-2 becomes operational</b></p>
<p>Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a flagship unit of Maharatna Steel Conglomerate, SAIL, concluded the calendar year 2025 with a string of remarkable achievements in key production units, demonstrating its best-ever performance for any calendar year. The year also witnessed commencement of slab casting from of Caster-4 of Steel Melting Shop-2 on 13<sup>th</sup> October, 2025.</p>
<p>The Blast Furnace-5 ‘Durga’ produced 32,39,390 tons of Hot Metal in 2025 to register its best calendar year performance improving upon its earlier best figure of 30,72,786 tons achieved in 2024. Similarly, the Blast Furnace-1 tapped 10,62,722 tons of Hot Metal to clock its best annual performance with a growth of 8.9% over the previous calendar year 2024. The Hot Strip Mill-2 rolled 26,54,530 tons of HR Coils to achieve its best calendar year performance thereby improving upon its earlier best performance of 25,23,587 tons achieved in 2024. The Sheet Shearing Line also produced 3,16,582 tons of HR Plates to clock its best calendar year record with a growth of 39.3% over the previous year. The New Plate Mill registered its best calendar year performance by rolling 9,75,133 tons of plates and exceeding its earlier best figure of 9,47,778 tons achieved in 2024. The Sintering Plant-3 produced 37,45,069 tons of sinter to register its best annual performance surpassing the earlier best record of 37,30,532 tons achieved in 2021.</p>
<p>With 32,11,017 tons direct dispatch and 6,17,396 tons road dispatch, RSP achieved a growth of 11% and 19% over the previous year respectively.</p>
<p>In the techno-economics area also, RSP exhibited record performances with sustained focus on reducing input cost. The coal to hot metal ratio was all time best 0.882 while the shop coke rate stood at all time best figure of 385 Kgs. The Coke Rate of BF-5 was an all time best of 368 Kgs. The year also witnessed record improvements in different areas. A best yearly average ladle life of 147.5 heats was achieved in CCM-II. The SMS-2 Converters also achieved Best-ever yearly average life of 7,734.5 heats.</p>
