Vivekanand Education Society’s Arts, Science & Commerce College Drives Social Impact Through Blood Donation and Thalassemia Screening

Mumbai, 24th July 2026: Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Autonomous, with its National Service Scheme (NSS) in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Chembur, successfully organised a Blood Donation Drive and Thalassemia Screening Camp, reaffirming its commitment to community service, preventive healthcare, and social responsibility. For Blood Donation blood banks from S.L. Raheja Hospital, Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (LTMGH) were invited.

The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff. A total of 72 voluntary donors contributed 32,400 ml of blood, while 116 students underwent Thalassemia Screening, promoting awareness about the early detection of hereditary blood disorders and encouraging a culture of preventive healthcare.

Addressing the occasion, Dr. Anita Kanwar, Principal, said, “At Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science & Commerce, we believe education extends beyond classrooms to nurturing socially responsible citizens. The enthusiastic participation of our students and staff reflects their compassion, commitment to service, and willingness to make a meaningful difference in society. The programme provided students with an opportunity to actively contribute to society while reinforcing the values of empathy, civic responsibility, and community engagement. MUMBAI, November 6, 2025: Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Management Studies & Research (VESIM) successfully organized a Blood Donation Drive in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Chembur and the Sion Hospital Blood Bank, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to community service and healthcare support. 20000+ml of blood was collected from 40+ donors.

The initiative brought together students, faculty and staff from the colleges as well as community members to contribute to the critical need for blood supplies in Mumbai’s healthcare system. The drive was conducted following all medical protocols and safety standards, with medical professionals from Sion Hospital overseeing the donation process.
