The Annual Sports Day commenced with the presence of distinguished guests including Shri Puneet Karnawat, Deputy Mayor of Greater Jaipur, and other prominent community leaders. 27th January 2024, Bengaluru: During the year’s first online sale event, the Republic Day sale, Unicommerce witnessed over 16 mn transactions processed by marketplaces and D2C brands through its platform over the 14-day event, which started on the 13th of January 2025.

The top performing categories during the sale period were health & pharma with over 80% YoY order volume growth, followed by home decor with 35% growth and beauty, wellness & personal care recording a 16% growth in volumes as compared to the sale period last year. उप-निगम आयुक्त विनोद नेहरा ने निगम अधिकारियों को निर्देशित करते हुए कहा कि 26 जनवरी से पहले गांव की मुख्य सड़क का निर्माण पूरा करना सुनिश्चित करें। इसके अलावा स्टेडियम की चार दिवारी, ग्रिल, मुख्य गेट और स्टेडियम के मुख्य द्वार पर स्थित शहीद एवं स्वतंत्रता सेनानी स्मारक पर रंग-रोगन करें। कार्यक्रम स्थल पर स्टेज की साज सज्जा के लिए भी अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिए। सेनिटेशन विंग को निर्देश देते हुए कहा कि कार्यक्रम स्थल के आसपास सफाई व्यवस्था का ध्यान रखे। बागवानी शाखा को मुख्यद्वार, शहीद स्मारक और स्टेज की सज्जा की जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई है। इलेक्ट्रीकल विंग को स्ट्रीट लाइट, कार्यक्रम स्थल पर बिजली आदि की व्यवस्था सौंपी गई। अग्निशमन अधिकारी को कार्यक्रम स्थल व आसपास पानी के छिड़काव व कार्यक्रम के दौरान एक फायर टेंडर व्हीकल सुनिश्चित करने के आदेश दिए गए है।
इस मौके पर उनके साथ नगर निगम की सेनिटेशन विंग, इंजीनियरिंग विंग,हॉर्टिकल्चर विंग के अधिकारी मौजूद रहे।

There is a well-established system for selection of tableaux for participation in the Republic Day Parade as per which Ministry of Defence invites proposals for tableau from all States/UTs and Central Ministries/Departments.

The tableaux proposals received from various States/UTs and Central Ministries/Departments are evaluated in a series of meetings of the Expert Committee comprising of eminent persons in the field of art, culture, painting, sculpture, music, architecture, choreography etc. The Expert Committee examines the proposals on the basis of theme, concept, design and its visual impact before making its recommendations. Due to time constraints arising out of overall duration of the parade, only a limited number of tableaux can be shortlisted for participation in the parade. The selection process in vogue, leads to participation of the best tableaux in the parade.

For Republic Day Parade 2021, a total of 56 tableaux proposals (32 from States/UTs and 24 from Ministries/Departments) were received. Out of these, 22 proposals, comprising of 16 States/UTs and 6 Ministries/Departments, have finally been shortlisted for participation in the Republic Day Parade 2021 after a series of five meetings.

The tableau proposal of Govt. of West Bengal was examined by the Expert Committee in two rounds of meetings. The tableau proposal of Govt. of West Bengal was not taken forward for further consideration by the Expert Committee after deliberations in the second meeting. It is pertinent to mention here that the tableau of Govt. of West Bengal was shortlisted for participation in Republic Day Parade 2020as an outcome of the same process.

UK Foreign Secretary Mr Dominic Raab called on the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The discussions covered various facets of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

“I am absolutely delighted to be visiting India next year at the start of an exciting year for Global Britain, and look forward to delivering the quantum leap in our bilateral relationship that Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi and I have pledged to achieve,” the British PM said in a statement.

He is only the second British leader since India’s independence to attend the Republic Day parade in Delhi as guest of honour after John Major in 1993.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said his presence at the annual celebrations “would be in a way symbolic of a new era, and a new phase of India-UK ties”.

Boris Johnson has also invited PM Modi to join the G7 summit next year in Britain, said UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab; India would be one of the three guest countries. Mr Raab reached Delhi this morning for a four-day India visit, and was welcomed by the Foreign Minister.

“I’m pleased that PM Boris Johnson has invited PM Modi to join the UK-hosted G7 summit next year. The British PM has also accepted the very generous invitation to attend India’s Republic Day celebrations in January, which is a great honour,” he said this afternoon.

“The UK Foreign Secretary comes at a very important time because we are looking at a post-COVID world and also looking at a post-Brexit world from the perspective of the UK. This is the right time for us to hold discussions,” S Jaishankar said on Dominic Raab’s visit.

Radhika Vemula, Rohith’s mother, who was accompanied by the “dadis” and former JNU student Umar Khalid unfurled the national flag. They sang the national anthem along with thousands of people, including women and children who had gathered at Shaheen Bagh to celebrate the occasion.

Vadgam Assembly Constituency (Gujarat) MLA Jignesh Mevani was also present.

The protesters, who are opposing the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and a proposed pan-India National Register of Citizens (NRC), have been sitting on protest at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh for over a month.

The protesters said they will continue their agitation until the government decides to rollback the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and National Register of Citizens.

From children to women, many held the national flag and sang patriotic songs to celebrate the spirit of oneness, equality and secularism. They chanted the “CAA se Azaadi, NRC se Azaadi, BJP se Azaadi (freedom from CAA, NRC and BJP)” while raising other slogans against the CAA and the NRC.

“We do not want a prime minister who cannot listen to our grievance and address our concerns. Why has the prime minister or any of his representatives not addressed us yet? Why didn’t he visit us and explain the CAA and NRC?,” asked 75-year-old Sarwari, one of the ”dadis”, who has been part of the protest for over a month now.

Inspector Seema Nag saluted the gathered VIPs as she led her fellow bikers, one precariously perched at the top of a ladder wedged behind her vehicle’s handlebars as others formed a human pyramid, drawing the loudest cheers from thousands of spectators.
