National capital Delhi recorded 5,664 new Covid-19 cases on the fifth consecutive . This sudden spike was first reported on October 28 with 5,673 new cases. On October 30, it broke all records registering the highest single-day spike ever with 5,891 cases. The positivity rate, as revealed by the Delhi health department, is 12.69 per cent — much higher than the national positivity rate. In the last 24 hours, 51 deaths have been recorded, which takes the toll of the Capital to 6,562. The total tally of Delhi is 3,92,370.

The number of containment zones has also gone up in the last 24 hours. On Saturday, there were 3,274 containment zones in the Capital. As on Sunday, there are 3,359 containment zones.

The AAP-led Delhi government has already planned to add more beds to its present capacity so that it can handle up to 12,000 cases daily. At present there are 15,775 beds in hospitals, 7,887 beds in dedicated Covid-19 care centres and 527 beds in dedicated Covid-19 health centres.

.

“The planned escalation includes 1,558 additional beds in Delhi government hospitals, 1,092 additional beds in central government hospitals and 2,241 additional beds in private hospitals.

India continues to report a trend of steadily declining active cases. For the third day after the active cases dropped below the 6 lakh mark after nearly three months, the progressive decline has been maintained .

Presently India’s total active caseload is 5,70,458.

The active cases have dropped to only 6.97% of the total positive cases of the country demonstrating a steady falling percentage of the total cases.

This sustained achievement is the result of collaborative action by States/UTs under the Centre’s strategy of comprehensive testing, timely tracking, quick hospitalization and adherence to the Standard Treatment Protocol which has ensured a standardized quality of medical care across the public and private hospitals and for the home isolation cases.

The trajectory of the active caseload across different States/UTs has been diverse demonstrating their focused efforts and gradual progress in their fight against COVID19. Karnataka has reported a steep decline in the active cases in the past 24 hours.

With the consistent decline in the active cases, the cases per million in India are among lowest in the world. India’s average cases per million stand at 5,930.

17 States/UTs have cases per million lower than the national average.

There has been a steady decline in the number of deaths in India. 470 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours in the country. India’s deaths per million population is one of the lowest in the world and stand at 88.

21 States/UTs have deaths per million lower than the national average.

The declining trend of the percentage active cases is commensurately supported by rising percentage of recovered cases. The total recovered cases stand at 74,91,513. The gap between Recovered cases and Active cases has crossed 69 lakh (69,21,055).

With increasing number of recoveries, this gap is continuously widening.

Higher number of recoveries has aided the national Recovery Rate to further improve to 91.54%. 58,684 have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours whereas the new confirmed cases stand at 46,963.

76% of the new recovered cases are observed to be concentrated in 10 States/UTs.

Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra have contributed the maximum to the new recovered cases with more

The health ministry says that the national case fatality rate touched 1.5%, the rate for at least 14 states was below 1%.

“Many states conducted population surveys to map and identify the vulnerable population like the elderly, pregnant women and those with co-morbidities,” the health ministry said. “This, along with the help of technological solutions such as mobile apps, has ensured keeping the high-risk population under continuous observation, thus aiding early identification, timely clinical treatment and in reducing fatalities.”

In the past 24 hours, 45,148 new confirmed cases of covid-19 were reported, taking the total count to 7,911,104 on Monday, with 119,603 fatalities. At least 480 people died of the infection in the past 24 hours. Active cases stood at 653,717.

“India has one of the lowest fatality rates in the world. The case fatality rate is lowest since 22 March and is continuously declining,” the ministry said, adding that the number of new confirmed cases is the lowest since 22 July when 37,000 new cases were reported.

The focused efforts of Centre and State/UT governments on effective clinical management of the hospitalized cases have ensured that India’s Fatality Rate has touched 1.5%. Less than 500 deaths (480) have been reported in last 24 hours in the country. India has one of the lowest fatality rates in the world. The Case Fatality rate is lowest since 22nd March and is continuously declining. 2218 Dedicated COVID Hospitals are providing quality medical care. At the ground level, frontline health workers like ASHAs and ANMs have done a commendable job of managing the migrant population and to enhance awareness at the community level. As a result, there are 14 States and UTs with CFR lower than 1%.59,105 new recoveries were added in last 24 hour whereas new recovered cases were 45,148. With this, the total number of recoveries have crossed 71 Lakh (71,37,228). Higher number of single day recoveries is also reflected in the continuous increase in the national recovery rate, which is at present 90.23%.India continues to report a trend of steadily decreasing active cases. Presently the active cases comprise merely 8.26% of the total positive cases of the country standing at 6,53,717. This is the lowest since 13th August when the active cases were 6,53,622. 78% of the new recovered cases are observed to be concentrated in 10 States/UTs. Karnataka has contributed the maximum to the single day recoveries with more than 10,000 cases followed by Kerala with more than 7,000 cases. 45,148 new confirmed cases were registered in the last 24 hours in the country. This is the lowest since 22nd July when 37,000 new cases were added. 82% of new confirmed cases are from 10 States and UTs. Kerala and Maharashtra contribute maximum to the new confirmed cases with more than 6,000 cases each followed by Karnataka, Delhi and West Bengal with more than 4,000 cases. 480 case fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours. Of these, nearly 80% are concentrated in ten States/UTs. More than 23% of new fatalities reported are from Maharashtra (112 deaths)

Highest ever recoveries in one day

Fast on the heels of crossing 3 crore cumulative tests, India has recorded another high. Total number of recoveries has crossed 2 million today (20,37,870).Coupled with this is another achievement of highest ever single day recoveries of 60,091 in the last 24 hours. With this high number of COVID-19 patients recovering and being discharged from the hospitals and home isolation (in case of mild and moderate cases), the Recovery Rate has scaled the twin peak of crossing 73% (73.64%). This has also led to the declining Case Fatality Rate, which stands at a new low of 1.91% today.

Meanwhile The second serological survey which was conducted between August 1 to August 7 shows that 29.1% of people have developed antibodies against Covid-19, Delhi’s Health Minister Satyendra Jain said . ,India on Thursday saw a record spike of 69,652 cases and 977 deaths in the last 24 hours. The Covid-19 tally in the country has now climbed to 28,36,926 including 6,86,395 active cases. The number of cured, discharged or migrated stands at 20,96,665 while the deaths have risen to 53,866, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said

The record high recoveries have ensured that the actual caseload of the country viz. the active cases has reduced and currently comprises less than 1/4th (only 24.45%) of the total positive cases. India has posted 13,61,356 more recoveries than the active cases (6,76,514). Government of India along with efforts of the State/UT governments has ramped up the hospital care infrastructure across the country to ensure that medical care for different categories of positive cases is provided through the Dedicated COVID Care Centre (DCCC), Dedicated COVID Health Centre (DCHC) and Dedicated COVID Hospital (DCH). Their numbers has substantially increased too. Today there are 1667 DCH, 3455 DCHC and 11,597 DCCC. Cumulatively they provide 15,45,206 isolation beds, 2,03,959 Oxygen supported beds, and 53,040 ICU beds.

India has tested more than 8 lakh COVID-19 samples for the 2nd consecutive day in a row. With a strong resolve to rapidly increase the number of tests done per day to touch 10 lakh/day testing capacity, 8,01,518 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The cumulative testing as on date has reached 3,17,42,782. The Tests Per Million too have seen a sharp rise to 23,002.India followed the track of a graded and evolving strategy, steadily strengthening its nationwide network of labs in the public and private sectors. Starting from one lab in January 2020, today 1486 labs dot the country; 975 labs in the government sector and 511 in the private sector.
