Bengaluru , 24 March 2025 : Tata Power, one of India’s largest integrated power companies, reinforced its commitment to inclusivity by partnering with National Purple Fest 2025. The day-long event, held at Amrit Udhyan, Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, is an initiative by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE), to promote inclusivity, accessibility, and empowerment for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). The event was graced by Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.

Reaffirming its commitment to Inclusivity, Tata Power showcased its ongoing efforts through ‘Pay Autention – India’s First Phygital Autism Support Network’ experiential zone and launch of Dance Movement Yog therapy foundational course; leveraging its unique, open access learning platforms of Pay Autention & E-Sanidhya co-developed with Tata Elxsi.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Himal Tewari, CHRO, Chief Sustainability & CSR, Tata Power, said, “We are honoured to partner with the National Purple Fest for the second year. Last year, alongside MSJE and Tata Elxsi, we launched and successfully mega-piloted E-Sanidhya neurodiversity support platform. This year we have committed to co-create a short, hybrid foundational course in Dance-Movement-Yoga therapies with DePwD; bringing together experts in ‘arts in health’ domain including yoga alongside Tata volunteers. Tata Power remains committed to fostering inclusivity, and our participation in the National Purple Fest 2025 reaffirms this. Tata Power will continue actively work government agencies and partner organisations in this area of Neurodiversity and inclusion.”

The event saw an overall footfall of over 23,000 participants, including children from special schools, community members supported by Tata Power, public workers, and Pay Autention network partners, actively participating in the event, and joined by volunteers from Tata Group companies like Indian Hotels ad Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

Children from Tata Power communities near Ahmednagar delivered inspiring cultural performances, showcasing their talents and also highlighting the company’s commitment to strengthening educational and learning initiatives for communities. Pay Autention network partner Victory Arts Foundation led a Dance and Movement Therapy workshop, engaging special kids, youth and regular audiences alike in a fun session.

The Pay Autention Experiential Zone, another major highlight at the event, offered interactive exhibits designed to educate and engage visitors. The zone featured the Adhikaar initiative of Tata Power, providing information on various government schemes for PwD empowerment; an Interactive Gaming Zone featuring a LEGO Corner by Sunday Bricks to foster cognitive and motor skills in children; nutrition therapy by Iyurved and yog therapy by SRCC; and merchandize by Anokha Dhaaga special youth entrepreneurs.

A group of 175 IAS officers of the 2020 batch, currently deputed to various Union Ministries and Departments as Assistant Secretaries were called on at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

While addressing the officers, the President said that as civil servants, you have an important role to play in the emergence of India as a global hub of knowledge, supply-chain, innovation, technology development and various other fields.

President further added, “At the same time, India has to strengthen the leadership position it has taken in the areas of socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable development.”

Pointing to the fact that by 2047, officers of the 2020 batch will be among the senior-most decision makers, the President said that by working with passion and pride, they can ensure that the India of 2047 will be much more prosperous, strong and happy.

President also pointed to the central government initiative ‘Mission Karmayogi’ as a major initiative to make our civil servants more modern, dynamic and sensitive in their approach.

The President said that with tremendous growth in infrastructure, it has become easier to reach remote parts of the country. She said that it is expected of civil servants to reach the last person or the most deprived person in their area of responsibility and improve her living condition.

Civil servants should be guided by dedication to public service, empathy and compassion towards the weaker sections, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and conduct and impartiality and objectivity, further, she added.

They are also expected to be especially mindful and active with respect to constitutional provisions related to Panchayati Raj Institutions, administration and control of Scheduled Areas and Scheduled Tribes, and provisions about the administration of tribal areas in the North-East mentioned in the Sixth Schedule.

Civil Servants should be fired with the passion to make their region ‘number one’ in terms of human development indices. They should be sensitive to the people they are duty-bound to serve.

President Murmu ended his discourse by saying that “Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam” – the entire world is one large family – is part of the great Indian ethos. “Bharatamev Kutumbakam”- all India is my family – should be integral to the ethos of civil servants belonging to All India Services.
