Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shilpa Shetty, Ranveer Singh, Madhuri Dixit and Varun Dhawan were among the celebs who spoke about precautions people need to take in the video made by Rohit Shetty’s production house.

According to reports, 206 cases of coronavirus have been reported in India till Fridy morning.

Actor Kartik Aaryan took to social media to deliver a ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnaama’ style monologue about the importance of social distancing in fighting the coronavirus pandemic. Aaryan was not the only celebrity to talk about being cautious against the pandemic but stood out with his style. The actor, who shot to fame with his monologues, made a fervent appeal to his fans to heed the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who during an address to the nation on Thursday evening urged people to stay at home.

Celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan also took to social media to applaud Prime Minister’s statement on janta curfew on Sunday. “ I applaud all fellow countrymen who work tirelessly to keep the essential services operational in such extenuating circumstances ..BE ONE, BE SAFE, BE IN PRECAUTION!,” megastar Bachchan tweeted.

“Fellow Indians, Namaskar. A short while ago, Our PM Saab, Modiji, requested all of us to show resolve & restraint in the face of COVID-19. Please also adhere to the Janta Curfew on 22nd March by staying home. Stay Safe @PMOIndia @narendramodi #JantaCurfew,” Ajay Devgn tweeted. “The assuring words & calm demeanor of our leader honourable PM @narendramodi Ji gave me comfort. I pledge to follow your instructions Sir, and my respect to all the silent heroes for their relentless work in public interest,” said Hrithik.

Akshay, whose film Sooryavanshi has been pushed due to the coronavirus scare, also hailed the PM’s speech. “An excellent initiative by PM @narendramodi ji…this Sunday, March 22 from 7 am to 9 pm let’s all join in the #JantaCurfew and show the world we are together in this. #SocialDistancing,” he wrote. “Imp initiative by our Honorable PM @narendramodi with #jantacurfew Self-inflicted Quarantine and Staying at HOME on Sunday, March 22 from 7 AM to 9 PM is a measured and sensible way to protect from this pandemic by not creating panic yet acknowledging the gravity of the situation,” Johar tweeted.

Ranveer Singh and Yash Raj Films are coming together for the first time from this film, in which Ranveer has called the film a miracle script written by writer-director Divyang Thakkar, who is going to début in bollywood  This will be the first time that Ranveer will get a chance to be seen in the role of a Gujarati youth. 

In the picture, Ranveer Singh is standing among the women with a veil on his face. He is looking very thin and perhaps trying to protect those women with a circumscribed look. Looking at them, it seems that there is a lot of effort on the look. At the same time, the superstar will be seen playing the role of a Gujarati person for the first time from this film.

Sharing this picture, Yash Raj Films has written from his official Twitter handle, ‘Get ready for a strong journey ## JayeshbhaiJordaar‘. So obviously the film has come on the floor now. But no information has been given about the release of this film yet. But people are constantly questioning the release of the film in the comment box and are praising Ranvir fiercely.

Aparna Sen, the head of the jury which picked Gully Boy as India’s Official Entry to the Oscars, seems to agree with me. “The energy of the film was infectious. It will speak to the audience,” the director Zoya Akhtar declared. The announcement re-invigorated the hype around the film while it was business as usual for the affair between Indian cinema and the Oscars. Out of the 51 films we have sent to the Academy for consideration since 1957, 32 have been in Hindi or Hindi-Urdu, with Gully Boy making it the 33rd such filing.   

 A total of 27 films were in contention to be India’s entry to the 2020 Oscars, including the Tamil film Super Deluxe. Released with an anticipation and hype akin to Gully Boy, the film marked one of the boldest Indian film-making experiments, for me. Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja collaborated on the screenplay with three prominent directors — Nalan Kumarasamy, Mysskin, and Neelan K Sekhar — to craft a slice of life, black comedy which joined a joyful nihilism with intense philosophical and social broodings. 

FFI president Firdausul Hasan said the screening process for the Oscar selection started on Monday and ended on Saturday, revealing that apart from Gully Boy, other Bollywood films competing for the Oscar entry were Badhaai Ho, Andhadhun, Article 15, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Badla, Kesari and The Tashkent Files.

Soon after the announcement, the cast and crew of film and fans took to social media to laud the choice, making #ApnaTimeAayega as one of the top trends. However, many were disappointed with the choice and thought other films would have been a better choice.

While one of the users wrote, “Kinda disappointed with our Oscar entry. Gully boy is a good movie but other shortlisted films like kesari, badla, andhadhun and article 15 were much better IMO (In my opinion) (thus used).” Another tweeted, “With films like #andhadhun and #article15 in the contention I don’t why exactly was GullyBoy nominated. Not that it was bad but personally I think the other two were better. Gully Boy is a fantastic film in itself. Anyhow congratulations team #GullyBoy and make India proud (thus used).”

One of the users pointed out, “Why din’t they send Article 15 or Andhadhun . Gully Boy is 8 mile rip off and 8 mile has already won Oscars (Sic).”
