A message from Rishi Kapoor’s family

Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.

He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.

He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.

In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force.

He would not have it any other way.

Actor Rishi Kapoor has died at 67 after a two-year-long battle with cancer. Rishi breathed his last at the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. His wife and actor Neetu Kapoor was by his side. His brother Randhir Kapoor confirmed the news.

Amitabh Bachchan confirmed the news on Twitter. “He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !

Rishi Kapoor (4 September 1952 – 30 April 2020) was an Indian actor, director and producer known for his work in Hindi cinema.He received the National Film Award for his debut role as a child artist in his father Raj Kapoor’s 1970 film Mera Naam Joker (1970).Kapoor had his first lead role as an adult opposite Dimple Kapadia in 1973 with the film Bobby and received the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1974.

Before his death he played leading roles as the romantic lead in 92 films between 1973 and 2000, of which 36 were box office hits. For his performance in Do Dooni Chaar, he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor in 2011, and for his role in Kapoor & Sons, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2017. He was honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.He appeared opposite his future wife Neetu Singh in twelve films from 1973 and 1981. He died on 30 April 2020 from complications with cancer in H.N. Reliance Hospital.

Rising early many Bollywood celebrities queued up at polling stations to cast their votes. Mr perfectionist AMIR KHAN with his wife KIRAN RAO first among who turnout for voting.

Mahesh Bhupathi and Lara Dutta were seen posing for the cameras after casting their votes in Mumbai. The former Miss World also took to social media, sharing a picture post voting. She urged the Mumbaikars to come out exercise their right. “Mumbai come out and exercise your right to vote!! #voteresponsibily #sustainabledevelopment .

Actor Aamir Khan casts his vote at a polling booth in Bandra(West). He says “I appeal to all citizens of Maharashtra to come out and vote in large numbers.”

Ritesh Deshmukh, his wife Genelia D’Souza uploaded a selfie after casting their votes at a polling booth in Latur. His brothers Amit Deshmukh and Dhiraj Deshmukh are contesting polls as Congress candidates from Latur city and Latur rural constituencies, respectively.

Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar posted a picture on social media with his son Arjun and wife while Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai also stepped out to vote in the afternoon.

Preity Zinta showed up in a red T-shirt and blue jeans with white sneakers and Varun Dhawan was greeted by fans and media as he appeared at the polling station in a white T-shirt and blue jeans to exercise his right to vote.

The Ambanis hosted a grand puja to celebrate Ganpati’s homecoming on Monday and joining the festivities were Bollywood A-listers, who arrived at their traditional best.

The Ambanis‘ Ganesh Chaturthi guest-list was headlined by the Bachchans and included celebs such as Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Karisma Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar, Kajol, Vidya Balan, Kriti Sanon, Aditi Rao Hydari and others. But mid-way through the festivities, the paparazzi scurried to incessantly pop the flashlights at Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, who walked in together. Draped in yellow nine-yards, Alia was absolutely gorgeous in a saree styled with oversized earrings. Ranbir Kapoor, who wore a jacket over kurta and pants, complemented Alia perfectly.
