राज्यसभा में राष्ट्रपति के अभिभाषण पर हुयी चर्चा का जवाब देते हुए श्री मोदी ने कहा कि हम लोग कुछ शब्‍दों से बड़े परिचित हैं- श्रमजीवी, बुद्धिजीवी, ये सारे शब्‍दों से परिचित हैं। लेकिन मैं देख रहा हूं कि पिछले कुछ समय से देश में एक नई जमात पैदा हुई है, एक नई बिरादरी सामने आई है और वो हैं आंदोलनजीवी। ये जमात आप देखोगे- वकीलों का आंदोलन है, वो वहां नजर आएंगे; स्‍टूडेंट का आंदोलन है, वो वहां नजर आएंगे; मजदूरों का आंदोलन है, वो वहां नजर आएंगे, कभी पर्दे के पीछे कभी पर्दे के आगे। एक पूरी टोली है ये जो आंदोलनजीवी है। वो आंदोलन के बिना जी नहीं सकते हैं और आंदोलन में से जीने के लिए रास्‍ते खोजते रहते हैं। हमें ऐसे लोगों को पहचानना होगा, जो सब जगह पर पहुंच करके और बड़ा ideological stand दे देते हैं, गुमराह कर देते हैं, नए-नए तरीके बता देते हैं।

उन्होनें कहा कि देश  आंदोलनजीवी लोगों से बचे, इसके लिए हम सबको…और ये उनकी ताकत है…उनका क्‍या है, खुद खड़ी नहीं कर सकते चीजें, किसी की चल रही हैं तो जाकर बैठ जाते हैं। वो अपना…जितने दिन चले, चल जाता है उनका। ऐसे लोगों को पहचानने की बहुत आवश्‍यकता है। ये सारे आंदोलनजीवी परजीवी होते हैं। और यहां पर सब लोगों को मेरी बातों से आनंद इसलिए होगा कि आप जहां-जहां सरकारें चलाते होंगे, आपको भी ऐसे परजीवी आंदोलनजीवियों का अनुभव होता होगा। और इसलिए, उसी प्रकार से एक नया चीज मैं चीज देख रहा हूं। देश प्रगति कर रहा है, हम FDI की बात कर रहे हैं, Foreign Direct Investment. लेकिन मैं देख रहा हूं इन दिनों एक नया एफडीआई मैदान में आया है। ये नए एफडीआई से देश को बचाना है। एफडीआई चाहिए, Foreign Direct Investment. लेकिन ये जो नया एफडीआई नजर में आ रहा है, ये नए एफडीआई से जरूर बचना होगा और ये नया एफडीआई है Foreign DestructiveIdeology, और इसलिए इस एफडीआई से देश को बचाने के लिए हमें और जागरूक रहने की जरूरत है।

प्रधानमंत्री ने किसानों को बातचीत का न्यौता देते हुये कहा कि

हमने नए-नए उपाय खोज करके आगे बढ़ना होगा और जैसा मैंने कहा कि कोई भी, कई कानून है हर कानून में दो साल बाद पांच साल के बाद, दो महीने, तीन महीने के बाद सुधार करते ही करते हैं। हम कोई स्‍टेटिक अवस्‍था में जीने वाले थोड़े ही हैं जी… जब अच्‍छे सुझाव आते हैं तो अच्‍छे सुधार भी आते हैं। और सरकार भी अच्‍छे सुझावों को और सिर्फ हमारी नहीं हर सरकार ने अच्‍छे सुझावों को स्‍वीकारा है यही तो लोकतांत्रिक परंपरा है। और इसलिए अच्‍छा करने के लिए अच्‍छे सुझावों के साथ अच्‍छे सुझावों की तैयारी के साथ हम सबको आगे बढ़ना चाहिए। मैं आप सबको निमंत्रण देता हूं। आइए हम देश को आगे ले जाने के लिए, कृषि क्षेत्र की समस्‍याओं का समाधान करने के लिए, आंदोलनकारियों को समझाते हुए हमने देश को आगे ले जाना होगा। हो सकता है कि शायद आज नहीं तो कल जो भी यहां होगा किसी न किसी को ये काम करना ही पड़ेगा। आज मैंने किया है गालियां मेरे खाते में जाने दो… लेकिन ये अच्‍छा करने में आज जुड़ जाओ। बुरा हो मेरे खाते में, अच्‍छा हो आपके खाते में… आओ मिलकर के चलें। और मैं  लगातार हमारे कृषि मंत्री जी लगातार किसानों से बातचीत कर रहे हैं। लगातार मीटिंगें हो रही हैं। और अभी तक कोई तनाव पैदा नहीं हुआ है। एक दूसरे की बात को समझने और समझाने का प्रयास चल रहा है। और हम लगातार आंदोलन से जुड़े लोगों से प्रार्थना करते हैं कि आंदोलन करना आपका हक है। लेकिन इस प्रकार से बुजूर्ग लोग वहां बैठे ये ठीक नहीं। आप उन सबको ले जाइए। आप आंदोलन को खत्‍म कीजिए आगे बढ़ने के लिए मिल बैठ करके चर्चा करेंगे रास्‍ते खुले हैं। ये सब हमने कहा है मैं आज भी ये सदन के माध्‍यम से भी निमंत्रण देता हूं।

“The BJP is misusing the I-T, ED and CBI as a pretext against its political opponents… no such revenge politics has ever been seen in the history of the country. Such incidents have spiked after Narendra Modi  became the Prime Minister for the second term,” said the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) in a series of tweets.

The ED arrested the 57-year-old Congress troubleshooter on Tuesday after four days of interrogation in the case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, and sought his remand for custodial questioning on the grounds that he was evasive in replies and non-cooperative in responding to a number of questions.

“@DKShivakumar is being punished for blocking operation ‘Kamala‘ and preventing (the) BJP from snatching power. He had also pulled off a prestigious RS (Rajya Sabha) election win in Gujarat from under the nose of (its national president) Amit Shah. No wonder DKS was arrested. Hardcore criminals are in power now! #ReleaseDK,” tweeted the Congress Seva Dal.

Noting that such incidents like the arrest of Shivakumar and its other senior leader P. Chidambaram by the CBI on August 21 put the country’s democratic system at risk, Rao said there was need for everyone to work together to convince the people of the truth.

Though the ED counsel sought 14-day custody of Shivakumar, Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar allowed only 10 days’ remand till September 13, observing that the income of the accused had a “phenomenal growth” while he was in important place.

Shivakumar was a senior cabinet minister for energy in the Congress government from 2013-2018 and Water Resources in the 14-month JD-S-Congress coalition government from May 23, 2018 to July 23, 2019.

In his nomination to the Election Commission for contesting in the 2018 state assembly elections, Shivakumar declared in an affidavit that he and his family had a whopping Rs 840-crore worth assets, including lands, houses, investments, bank balances and properties as against Rs 251 crore he had before the 2013 assembly elections, a staggering 235 per cent jump in 5 years.

Raids on his residential and official premises in early August 2017 led to recovery of incriminating documents, files, records and Rs 8.6-crore unaccounted cash in his Delhi flat, indicating illegal transactions in crores of rupees.
