The daily quoted Bhumi as saying, “Badhaai Ho is one of my favourite films in recent times, and it is really exciting to take this franchise forward. For me, the script is one of the best that I have ever come across, and I immediately wanted to do this film. My character again is strong, independent and author-backed, and it gives me a lot of scope to bring a very different and cool character to life. This time, too, the film will say something extremely relevant and relatable, but in a hilarious manner. I’m also excited to share screen space with Raj for the first time.” The film will go on floors by June and is likely to release next year.

Rajkummar also told the daily, “I have played a cop before, but never with this perspective. I look for layered characters and this is a perfect match. My character is surrounded by strong women at home and work, and that adds immense depth to his personality. Junglee Pictures’ Bareilly Ki Barfi was a fabulous experience for me. Badhaai Do is a reunion in many ways.”

This will be the first time Bhumi and Rajkummar will feature together in a film. Badhaai Ho enjoyed both commercial and critical success. Directed by Amit Sharma, Badhaai Ho also featured Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao and Surekha Sikri. It traces the story of a middle-aged couple who get pregnant, much to the shock and disappointment of their son.

Meanwhile Hundreds of protesters who gathered at Mumbai’s iconic Gateway of India since Sunday night in anger against the mob attack in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) were forced out by the police this morning and moved to Azad Maidan, 2 km away. This after the police were told by the students that there was no leader of the protest and no one would listen to the requests to shift to Azad Maidan.

Policemen then physically removed from the popular tourist site that became the epicentre of the “Occupy Gateway” protest. The police say while some moved voluntarily, some had to be dragged away from the site after they refused to comply.

A police officer told there are no toilet or water facilities at the Gateway of India and it was becoming a challenge to control the crowd at what is one of the busiest sites in Mumbai.

Actor Anil Kapoor has strongly condemned the violent attack on the students and faculty members of Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) by masked assailants on Sunday night.

The actor said, “It has to be condemned. It was quite sad and quite shocking. What I saw was very disturbing. In fact, main poori raat soya nahi yeh soch soch ke ki what is happening. (In fact, I did not sleep all night because I was thinking about what is happening.) It has to be condemned. Violence se kuch hone wala nahi hai. Jinhone yeh kiya, they should be punished, absolutely.

On Sunday, she posted a picture of her with a mask on her face and expressed concern for Delhiites and especially those who are “homeless.” “It’s so hard to shoot here now that I can’t even imagine what it must be like to live here under these conditions,” the actor captioned the picture.

Adding how blessed she is with “air purifiers” and “masks”, the 37-year old added, “Pray for the homeless. Be safe everyone.”

Delhi is witnessing a dip in air quality with several areas showing the air quality in the ‘severe’ category. The capital and its adjoining areas have been covered in a thick blanket of smog due to rising pollution from past few weeks.

The situation is such that public health emergency has also been issued by EPCA in the wake of the deteriorating air quality.
