Govt Denies Rumours Of Train Tickets Discontinuation; PIB Says Claims Are Fake

The Government has denied rumours that train tickets have been discontinued and now passengers will no longer get tickets. The fact-check unit of Press Information Bureau clarified that no such order has been issued by the Railway Ministry and any rumour being circulated on social media is fake. It added that the train tickets are available at the counter of railway stations and official websites. It has urged people not to fall for such news and trust only information obtained from official sources.

Railways announces for Tatkal tickets; Aadhaar-based OTP authentication must from July 1

The Railway Ministry has said that only those users will be able to book online Tatkal tickets through the IRCTC website and app from the 1st of next month who have authenticated their account with Aadhaar. The step has been taken to ensure fair and transparent access to Tatkal tickets and to safeguard the interests of passenger.

Indian Railways has announced key modifications in the Tatkal ticket booking system. According to the new scheme, Aadhaar-based OTP authentication will be mandatory for online Tatkal bookings from the 15th of July this year. Tatkal tickets booked at computerised Passenger Reservation System counters and through authorised agents will require OTP authentication sent to the mobile number provided by the user at the time of booking.

To prevent bulk bookings during the critical opening period, authorised Indian Railways ticketing agents will not be permitted to book opening-day Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the booking window. This restriction applies to AC classes from 10 AM to 10:30 AM and to non-AC classes from 11 AM to 11:30 AM.

The Railways Ministry has said that these changes are being implemented to improve transparency in Tatkal bookings and ensure that the scheme’s benefits reach genuine end users. The Centre for Railways Information Systems and IRCTC have been instructed to make necessary system modifications and inform all Zonal Railways and concerned departments accordingly.

Indian Railways to install around 20 thousand GPS based navigation fog pass devices

The Indian Railways have provisioned around 20 thousand fog pass devices during the foggy weather to ensure smooth rail operations. The fog pass is a GPS based navigation device that helps the loco pilot to navigate during dense fog conditions. The Railway Ministry said, it provides on-board real-time information to Loco Pilots regarding location of fixed landmarks such as Signal, Level Crossing gate and Permanent Speed Restrictions. The Ministry said, during the foggy weather in the winter months, a large number of trains are affected especially in the northern parts of the country.

CPRO (Northern Railways) Deepak Kumar said that loco pilot can carry the device easilywith him as it is portable, compact in size and light in weight.
