Bengaluru, April 7, 2025 – The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), in collaboration with the Nashik Zilla Parishad and Quality Council of India (QCI), has launched the “Sampanna Ghar Abhiyan” — a unique rural housing initiative designed to help over 1.5 lakh families build their own homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin.

This community-driven effort brings together 18 professional associations and grassroots institutions with a shared vision: to blend housing access with skill empowerment. Families won’t just receive support in building homes — they’ll also be trained to construct them with their own hands, creating a powerful link between livelihood and self-reliance.

NSDC will play a central role by standardising training modules and supporting the mobilisation of certified trainers across villages. On-ground skill delivery will be led by Shri Ramkrishna Arogya Sansthan, ensuring beneficiaries are equipped with practical construction skills that are safe, efficient and cost-effective. For NSDC, this collaboration is a reflection of its larger mission—to empower individuals with skills that not only enhance livelihoods, but transform communities.

The project is led by Mrs Ashima Mittal, CEO of Nashik Zilla Parishad.

Mr. Kunal Patil (President, CREDAI Nashik Metro) and Mr. Sachin Gulve (Vice President, Nashik Citizen Forum) are coordinating across technical and community bodies, while local architects are contributing to functional and user-friendly home design layouts suited for rural needs.

A wide network of associations—including experts in construction, solar energy, plumbing, sanitation, and building materials—has joined hands to support the campaign. This includes initiatives to provide building materials at factory prices, promote solar-powered solutions with support from the Maharashtra Solar Manufacturers Association, and design low-cost sanitation systems in partnership with the Indian Plumbing Association.

Local education institutions such as Maratha Education Trust, Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj and K.K. Wagh will also be involved, with students and faculty offering implementation support alongside rural housing engineers and Block Development Officers from Nashik Zilla Parishad. Together, they will help guide the families through construction while also assisting with availing benefits under government schemes.

A detailed project roadmap is being finalised this week, with implementation set to begin within the next fortnight. With its integrated, community-led and skill-based model, the Sampanna Ghar Abhiyan has the potential to become a national blueprint for rural housing interventions.

Jitendra Thakker, Convenor of Quality City Nashik, expressed gratitude to Mrs Ashima Mittal for her vision and leadership, adding that the initiative’s success lies in its ability to build dignity and confidence—brick by brick, skill by skill.

QCI launches a marquee campaign– ‘Gunvatta Se Atmanirbharta’ to celebrate India’s commitment to quality

The Quality Council of India is set to celebrate its Silver Jubilee tomorrow at the Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi with a special event intended to share India’s journey of growth, accelerated by the enhancement of quality. Stalwarts in policymaking, governance, and quality will come together on one platform to applaud and celebrate India’s tryst with excellence, rooted in quality and consistency.

Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles will be the Chief Guest at the event. Other eminent personalities such as Shri Suresh Prabhu, Former Commerce & Industry Minister, Government of India, Shri Amitabh Kant, India’s Sherpa to G20, Shri Anurag Jain, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CMD, India Trade Promotion Organization and Former Commerce Secretary and other dignitaries will take part in the celebration.

The event will comprise of panel discussions on the quality ecosystem being an enabler for ‘Make in India’, achieving India’s growth vision for 2047 through speed, scale, digitalization & quality, and discussion on the ‘Heal in India-Heal by India’ initiative. Excellent contributors to India’s quality ecosystem will also be recognized through several awards instituted by QCI with its partners.

Quality Council of India was set up in 1997, jointly by the Government of India and the Indian Industry represented by the three premier industry associations i.e., Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), with Mr. Ratan Tata as its first Chairman.

Over the past 25 years, QCI has created various boards viz- NABL, NABH, NABCB, NABET and NBQP to take over the functions of accreditation and quality promotion. As per the mandate given to it by the government, QCI started venturing out into the global scenario and established memberships with forums and organizations that decided about how the business and trade was to be conducted in a globalized environment. QCI and NABL became members of IAF and ILAC respectively and subsequently to the regional bodies like APAC and APLAC. This ensured global equivalence of outcomes of quality assurance related economic activities in India.
