Equipped with advanced ultra-supercritical units designed for 100% dry bottom ash and 100% dry fly ash handling, PVUNL provides a unique operational platform to maximize ash utilization and establish sustainable benchmarks for the power sector.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Ranchi.</strong> Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) has successfully achieved   Commercial Operation Date (COD) for its Unit 1 &#8211; 800 MW on November 5, 2025. This achievement marks a significant milestone in PVUNL’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Jharkhand’s power infrastructure and contributing to India’s energy security.</p>
<p>The plant is equipped with the latest advanced technologies, including ultra-supercritical parameters for high efficiency, an air-cooled condenser ensuring minimal water consumption, and 100% dry ash handling technology for complete and productive ash utilization. Unit #1 has successfully undergone rigorous testing and stabilization, demonstrating its reliability, operational excellence, and efficiency.</p>
<p>The COD declaration was celebrated in the presence of key officials, including Shri A.K. Sehgal, CEO (PVUNL); Shri Anupam Mukherjee, CGM (Project); Shri Manish Kshetrapal, GM (O&amp;M); Smt. Sangita Dash, GM (TS); Shri O.P. Solanki, GM (Maintenance); Shri Bishnu Dutt Dash, GM (Project); and other officials of PVUNL.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>PVUNL, a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has achieved a key milestone with the successful charging of the 400 KV Double Circuit Patratu–Katia transmission line, marking the commissioning of its first Associated Transmission System (ATS). Each of the two Quad Moose circuits has a capacity of 1700 MW, playing a crucial role in power evacuation and expediting the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of Unit-1. The line was charged at 17:45 hrs in the presence of Shri Ashok Kumar Sehgal, CEO (PVUNL), Shri Anupam Mukherjee, CGM (Project), senior officials of PVUNL and representatives from JUSNL at the Katia Substation.</p>
<p>To commemorate the event, Shri Sehgal celebrated with the team, expressing appreciation to MD (JUSNL) and extending an invitation to the upcoming Unit-1 synchronization. PVUNL acknowledged the tireless efforts of its former CEOs, team members, and the support of ERLDC, ERPC, SLDC, and JUSNL, recognising their significant contributions to this achievement.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Shri Ashok Kumar Sehgal has assumed the charge as the Chief Executive Officer of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) on July 6, 2025. PVUNL, a joint venture between NTPC and Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL), is dedicated to establishing a state-of-the-art 4000 MW thermal power plant in Jharkhand. The first phase, comprising 2400 MW through three 800 MW units, is progressing rapidly towards completion, with Shri Sehgal’s leadership expected to accelerate this development.</p>
<p>Bringing over 35 years of extensive experience with NTPC, Shri Sehgal has held key roles across operations, maintenance, turbine technology, and project management. His previous tenure as Business Unit Head at Talcher Kaniha saw significant milestones, establishing the station as a leading power plant within NTPC. His academic credentials include a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, an M.Tech in Power Engineering from IIT Delhi, and management training from IIM Bangalore and Silicon Valley, USA.</p>
<p>With a strong blend of technical expertise and strategic vision, Shri Sehgal is well-positioned to guide PVUNL through its crucial phases of development. His leadership is anticipated to enhance project execution, bolster Jharkhand’s energy infrastructure, and ensure the timely completion of the ambitious 3&#215;800 MW thermal power project. Known for his calm demeanour and sound decision-making, Shri Sehgal&#8217;s appointment marks a significant step toward strengthening the state’s power sector.</p>
