The launch programme was attended by more than 250 dairy farmers, officials and dignitaries of the dairy cooperative. Officials from the District Veterinary Office, Barpeta, also addressed the farmers during the event.

The new cattle feed has been introduced under Purabi Pashu Pushti, the feed and supplements brand of Purabi Dairy. Designed at par with BIS Type-I specifications, Purabi Dana Supreme carries higher crude protein and crude fat, and is enriched with vitamins and minerals to support optimum cattle performance.

“Purabi Dana Supreme has been developed to meet the evolving nutritional needs of high-yielding cattle and to support dairy farmers in adopting scientific feed management practices. At Purabi, our focus has always been on strengthening the dairy cooperative movement by providing farmers with quality products, technical guidance and field-level support. We believe this new premium cattle feed will help farmers improve productivity, maintain better animal health and enhance their overall livelihood,” said Sameer Kumar Parida, Managing Director, WAMUL.

The launch was part of Purabi Dairy’s continuing efforts to provide improved support, products and services to dairy farmers across Assam. An animal health camp was also organised alongside the launch event, where veterinary experts from WAMUL provided advice and guidance to farmers on scientific herd management.

Purabi Dairy, managed by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), has been playing an important role in strengthening the dairy cooperative movement in Assam. Its products are marketed by North East Dairy and Foods Limited (NEDFL), a joint venture between the Government of Assam and NDDB. From a small cooperative, Purabi has grown into one of eastern India’s most impactful dairy institutions, touching the lives of more than 57,000 rural farming families across Assam.

In 2021-22, WAMUL was associated with around 22 thousand dairy farmers through 485 dairy cooperative societies covering around 1,500 villages. As of March 2026, the union is associated with almost 60 thousand dairy farmers through 1,340 dairy cooperative societies covering more than 2,524 villages.

With the evolution of livestock rearing and cooperative dairying in Assam, farms in the state have become increasingly conscious of scientific animal management and feed practices. Farmers are now giving greater attention to the nutritional and healthcare requirements of their livestock, especially with the growing preference for high-yielding breeds such as Holstein Friesian, Gir and Jersey.

In 2022, with support from the Government of Assam under the RIDF scheme, WAMUL’s cattle feed plant at Changsari was re-commissioned with a capacity potential of 50 MTPD compounded cattle feed, along with a 25 MTPD bypass protein plant and a 12 MTPD mineral mixture plant.

Since the commencement of operations in 2022, WAMUL has supplied approximately 23,000 MT of cattle feed and 175 MT of mineral mixture to dairy farmers associated with Purabi at subsidised rates. Similarly, the new Purabi Dana Supreme, which is priced at an MRP of Rs 1075/ bag of 25 kg, will be available for WAMUL dairy farmers at Rs 755/ bag.

Purabi Pashu Pushti has been providing optimum nutrition solutions for dairy cattle through feed and supplement products developed under the guidance of NDDB. These products are manufactured at WAMUL’s ISO 9001:2015 certified Cattle Feed Plant located at Changsari in Kamrup district.

With the launch of Purabi Dana Supreme, Purabi Dairy aims to cater to the nutritional requirements of high-yielding cattle and further support dairy farmers in improving productivity through scientific feed management.

Purabi Dairy said it remains deeply rooted in the rural dairy community of Assam and is committed to improving the livelihoods of farmers through newer initiatives, improved products and continued field-level support.
