]]> Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, has conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) upon Shri Ravindra Kumar Tyagi, Chairman and Managing Director, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the power sector and advancements in electrical engineering, science, and technology. The honour was presented by Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, during the 55th Convocation Ceremony. A distinguished technocrat and innovator, Shri Tyagi has pioneered 1200 kV systems, eco-friendly transformers, and AI-based asset management solutions. He has represented India in international forums, chaired key technical bodies, and authored influential research papers. An alumnus of PEC and IIT Delhi, and a Fulbright Scholar from Carnegie Mellon University, Shri Tyagi’s 35-year career spans leadership roles across multiple domains of POWERGRID and India’s power sector.

]]> POWERGRID has signed an MoU with Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh for establishing  “POWERGRID Centre of Excellence” at PEC under CSR.

It was signed by Shri Tarun Bajaj, ED (NR-II) on behalf of POWERGRID and Prof. Rajesh K. Bhatia , Director (ad-interim) on behalf of Punjab Engineering College in presence of Sh. Rajeev Verma, IAS, Chief Secretary, Chandigarh-UT, Shri R. K. Tyagi, CMD, POWERGRID and Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary Education, Chandigarh Administration-UT.

Senior officers from POWERGRID including Sh. Vikram Singh Bhal, ED (CMG-CC), Sh. Jasbir Singh, ED (CSR),  HODs & senior faculty members of PEC and officials from Technical Education, Chandigarh were also present during the signing ceremony. The centre being established at an estimated cost of ₹17 Crores envisages to open new avenues for student learning.
