										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>All India Management Association oranised the 5th PSU Summit in New Delhi. Addressing the inaugural event, Shri Ayush Gupta, Director (Human Resources), GAIL, said that with India poised to become the world&#8217;s third-largest economy, the country&#8217;s Public Sector Undertakings will have a major role to play to achieve this distinction at the earliest. He said since India&#8217;s Independence, PSUs have played a stellar role in national growth. Even today, PSUs work not just for profit, but also for social development by setting up projects in even the remotest parts which private companies avoid. &#8220;The motto of PSUs is not just profit. It is Nation first, development first, infrastructure first,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>Ms Soma Mondal, Member, the Public Enterprises Selection Board and former Chairperson, of Steel Authority of India Limited, was the Chief Guest at the Inaugural Session. Highlighting the important role of PSUs towards nation building, She said in the current scenario, PSUs must benchmark with the est in the world while showing transparency and responsiveness.</p>
<p>Shri Gupta said PSUs today provide a very professional and competitive work environment. To improve this further, the Government is focusing on bringing excellence through increased efficiency, digitization, and creating a leadership pipeline. Shri Gupta, who is also the Programme Chairman of the PSU Summit on the theme &#8220;The Future of the PSUs &#8211; Catalyzing Economic Transformation&#8221;, said the programme would provide an opportunity to participants to share learnings from the best practices of PSUs.</p>

Additionally, 372 hectares have been covered by grassing which is stabilizing soil, improving moisture retention and preventing erosion in reclaimed land. During the fiscal 2022-23, Coal/Lignite PSUs under the Ministry of Coal, planted approximately 50 lakh saplings, covering 2370 hectares of land.</p>

<p>Over the last five years, Coal and Lignite PSUs, have added 10,894 hectares of land to the green cover by planting more than 233 lakh saplings .</p>
