The two-day National Meet of the Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS), held under the aegis of the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), was inaugurated in Mumbai on the theme “HER ERA – NOW & BEYOND.” The event was graced by Chief Guest Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE and Member, Governing Body, ILO, along with Guest of Honour Ms. Shirin Lokhande, Joint Labour Commissioner, Maharashtra, in the presence of Smt. Asha Ramamurthy, President, WIPS, and other office bearers. Bringing together more than 600 participants from across the country, the meet recognized outstanding women professionals from various Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) with excellence awards and highlighted the vital role of women in shaping the evolving global economy.

Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of acknowledging women’s potential and strengthening their leadership in both present and future growth trajectories. WIPS has grown into the largest network of women in the organized sector in India, with over 16,000 members. SCOPE continues to advance women empowerment initiatives within PSEs, focusing on leadership development, health and well-being, capacity building and overall professional growth, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive and equitable workplace practices.

SCOPE and Capacity Building Commission partner with ISB for DAKSH Leadership program

Pivoting future leadership through DAKSH leadership program, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and Capacity Building Commission (CBC), GoI and signed an agreement with the Indian School of Business (ISB) for the third batch. Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE, Shri Jagdish Gupta, Joint Secretary, CBC, and Professor Madan Pillutla, Dean, Indian School of Business (ISB) signed the agreement in the presence of Dr. Alka Mittal, Member, CBC; Shri Adil Zainulbhai, Former Chairman, CBC, along with other officials from CBC, SCOPE and ISB.

DAKSH (Development of Aspiration, Knowledge, Succession & Harmony) is a first-of-its-kind flagship leadership development initiative jointly conceptualized by SCOPE and CBC that aims at equipping high-potential executives, expected to assume Board level positions with advanced leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and a comprehensive understanding of emerging industry dynamics.

The third batch of DAKSH, anchored by ISB as the Knowledge and Academic Partner, will focus on developing leadership capabilities across key domains such as strategic decision-making, governance and risk management, stakeholder ecosystem navigation, digital transformation, and leading large organizations in a dynamic environment.

The signing of this agreement marks another significant milestone in DAKSH, SCOPE and CBC’s flagship leadership program for PSEs, further strengthening their shared vision of building enduring leadership capacity across India’s PSEs.

Emphasising value-driven leadership, she underscored the importance of integrity, empathy and fairness, and called for courage and accountability in decision-making. Highlighting a people-centric approach, Dr Mittal urged leaders to listen actively, broaden their perspective from operational to organisational thinking, and align personal vision with institutional goals. She also noted CBC’s collaboration with DPE, SCOPE and PSU leadership to develop a strategic HR ecosystem aligned with national development goals.

Advising emerging leaders, Dr Mittal stressed continuous learning, resilience, authentic communication and building a strong values-based leadership identity, stating that leadership is defined by influence and impact rather than titles.
