Bengaluru, July 25, 2025:  Shree Cement, one of India’s leading cement producers, extends a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s Bravehearts on Kargil Vijay Diwas through its pioneering initiative, Project Naman – A Salute to Martyrs.

Deeply rooted in the company’s commitment to national service and conceptualized by Shri H.M. Bangur, Chairman, Shree Cement, Project Naman is a unique CSR initiative that offers free cement to support the families of soldiers and personnel from the Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces who lost their lives in the line of duty—helping them build a secure and dignified future.

The idea stemmed from a simple yet profound question: What can be done to offer something truly meaningful to the families left behind by those who gave their all for the nation? The answer was as powerful as it was practical—to help them build a solid home.

Speaking on the occasion, Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director, Shree Cement said, “A home is not just a shelter; it is the very foundation of dignity, security and healing. Project Naman is our way of giving back to those who gave everything. On this Kargil Vijay Diwas, we stand with the families of our martyrs. They will always remain in our memories, and we want to give our humble support to the families.”

The project was formally launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) with an MoU signed in October 2020. Since then, Project Naman has steadily grown in both reach and impact. As of July 2025, the initiative has supported 183 families from the Army, BSF, CRPF and Assam Rifles. Over 79,000 cement bags have been released under the scheme, laying tangible foundations for dreams that once seemed uncertain.

The scheme covers fatal casualties that occurred between January 1, 1999, and January 1, 2019 — a deliberate span to ensure that even long-forgotten sacrifices are recognised, remembered and honoured. So far, applications from 266 families have been received, helping many lay down new roots and rebuild their futures.

As India remembers the heroes of Kargil and countless others who laid down their lives for the nation. Shree Cement is committed to lead with empathy and purpose, transforming tribute into tangible impact.

Common Service Centre (CSC) to establish 25 Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) locations across 13 states for streamlining pension processes

Bengaluru, May 19, 2025: Axis Bank, one of the largest private sector banks in India, has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army and CSC e-Governance Services India Limited to support Project NAMAN, a dedicated initiative for Army veterans and their families. The MoU was signed in the presence of Lieutenant General Ranjeet Singh, DG DC&W; Brigadier Mandeep Singh, SM, Brig DIAV; Mr. Mohit Jain, Executive Vice President- Bharat Banking, Axis Bank and Mr. Harish Oberoi, Vice President, CSC e-Governance Services India Limited.  Under this project, Axis Bank will support establishment of facilitation centres, to provide essential services to Army veterans, war widows and NOK, ensuring easier access to welfare and pension-related assistance.

Launched in 2023, Project NAMAN focuses on implementing SPARSH (System for Pension Administration – Raksha), a digital pension system launched by the Ministry of Defence to streamline pension-related processes for defence personnel.  Under this partnership, CSCs will be set up at 25 DIAV locations across 13 states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, J&K, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Rajasthan and others. These facilitation centres will be equipped to handle various queries and concerns, offering comprehensive support for those who have served the nation.

Each CSC centres will be managed by a VLE, selected from army veterans or NOKs, by the Local Military Authorities (LMA). The CSC e-Governance Services India Limited will onboard these VLEs and train them to serve the veterans and their families. The centres will also act as a single-window platform for SPARSH-enabled pension services, Government-to-Citizen (G2C) services, and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) offerings.
