Bengaluru, 12 December 2025: Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal has welcomed the Government of India’s reforms to the oil and gas regulatory framework, calling the move a “truly historic development” that could unlock India’s long-identified but underutilised hydrocarbon reserves.

Agarwal congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, stating that the newly notified rules represent a decisive policy shift aimed at accelerating domestic exploration and production. “The world has always known the scale of India’s untapped reserves. These reforms finally create the environment needed to unlock them,” he said.

Highlighting India’s position as one of the producers of globally affordable oil and gas, Agarwal said the liberalised regime will directly benefit consumers—“especially the poorest”—by reducing import dependency and improving supply security.

He underscored the reform’s potential to democratise India’s energy ecosystem, noting that the sector has now been opened to entrepreneurs, start-ups, young innovators, and even university students, who can take up exploration with minimal investment. He termed the shift a transformational step that could widen India’s exploration base significantly.

Drawing parallels with the United States’ energy revolution, Agarwal said that an inclusive regulatory environment had enabled nearly 20,000 companies and individuals to participate in exploration there, turning the US from a major importer into an energy-surplus economy. “India is now poised to follow a similar path,” he added.

Agarwal called the amendment a once-in-a-generation reform. “Our energy security is both our greatest challenge and an extraordinary opportunity. With these changes, I am confident India can produce at least 50% of its total energy domestically in the coming years.”

Industry analysts expect the Government’s overhaul to spur fresh investment, widen participation in the upstream sector, and reinforce India’s long-term energy resilience, especially as the country seeks to secure stable and affordable energy supplies amid global volatility.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the largest gathering of paediatric cardiac surgery patients, recognised by Guinness World Records, at Nava Raipur. Welcomed by Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, Founder, Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centres for Child Heart Care, Prime Minister interacted with 2500 children from various age groups who have received free life-saving cardiac surgeries as a part of the ‘Gift of Life’ initiative. He reflected “As we talk about Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047, every state is moving in that direction. The effort is being made to ensure that our future, our young generation, remain healthy.”

The Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centre for Child Heart Care, Nava Raipur, as part of the One World One Family Mission’s largest chain of paediatric cardiac care hospitals, has been instrumental in offering advanced, world-class cardiac care to children with congenital heart diseases. Envisioning compassion in action, it enables children with health, hope, and dignity, to realise their aspirations.

On the momentous occasion, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, Founder, One World One Family Mission, remarked “Compassion without commercialisation is the only way forward to restore the rhythm of little hearts!” He extended heartfelt gratitude to the honourable Prime Minister for gracing the event, exemplifying how true vision can strengthen the crucial pillars of a nation.

The event brought together global stakeholders, innovators, and industry leaders to shape India’s digital and technological future.

Prime Minister inaugurated IMC 2025, highlighting India’s achievements in indigenous technology and the success of initiatives like Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India. He urged global investors to explore opportunities in manufacturing, semiconductors, and digital startups, stating that “India is emerging as an effective platform for innovation and progress.”

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said India has transformed from a “technology taker” to the “digital flag bearer of the world.” He noted that mobile data costs have fallen by 98 percent, broadband users have grown from 60 million in 2014 to 944 million, and India now represents 20 percent of the global mobile population.

The event featured India’s first Satcom Summit, themed “Space Networks for Universal Connectivity,” which explored the role of satellite technology in bridging digital divides. Scindia described Satcom as a tool for inclusive growth, bringing education and healthcare to remote areas.

Parallel to IMC, the International Bharat6G Symposium 2025 saw global research alliances endorse principles for next-generation 6G networks that are secure, interoperable, and sustainable. Experts highlighted India’s 65 million 5G users and its readiness for 6G development.

Leading technology firms showcased innovations, including MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset and Tejas Networks’ Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology. BSNL also announced the completion of its 5G pilot project.

IMC 2025 reaffirmed India’s emergence as a global hub for digital connectivity, telecom innovation, and satellite communication.

Prime Minister facilitates All India ITI toppers at Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh, launches PM-SETU and inaugurates 1,200 Vocational Skill Labs; A Landmark in India’s Youth Empowerment Journey

Bengaluru, 6th October 2025 – At a grand ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi presided over the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh, felicitating 46 All India Toppers from Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country. This marked the 4th edition of the National Skill Convocation, a unique initiative that was first conceptualised under the inspiration of the Prime Minister to make skill development aspirational.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also launched PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs) — a landmark ₹60,000 crore centrally sponsored scheme to transform 1,000 Government ITIs across India into modern, industry-aligned training institutions.

PM-SETU will follow a hub-and-spoke model, with 200 hub ITIs linked to 800 spoke ITIs. Each hub will be equipped with advanced infrastructure, innovation and incubation centres, production units, training of trainer facilities, and placement services, while the spokes will extend access and outreach. The scheme will:

Introduce new, demand-driven courses and revamp existing ones in collaboration with industry;

Set up Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) with credible Anchor Industry Partners to manage clusters and ensure outcome-based training;

Create pathways for long-term diplomas, short-term courses, and executive programs;

Strengthen 5 National Skill Training Institutes in – Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Hyderabad (Telangana), Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Ludhiana (Punjab), as Centres of Excellence with global partnerships.

Under the first phase of PM-SETU, 15 hub-and-spoke ITI clusters have been identified across the country, spanning diverse regions and industrial ecosystems. These include Sonipat (Haryana), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bijnor and Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), Haridwar (Uttarakhand), Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh), Bengaluru Urban (Karnataka), Bharatpur (Rajasthan), Darbhanga and Patna (Bihar), Hoshiarpur (Punjab), Hyderabad (Telangana), Sambalpur (Odisha), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), and Guwahati (Assam)

Each cluster will serve as a centre of excellence in skills, equipped with advanced infrastructure, modern trades, and industry-led training, creating model ecosystems that can be replicated nationwide.

Adding a transformative step for school education, the Prime Minister also virtually inaugurated 1,200 Vocational Skill Labs set up in 400 Navodaya Vidyalayas and 200 Eklavya Model Residential Schools across 34 States and UTs.

These labs are designed to expose school-going children, including those from rural and tribal areas, to hands-on training in 12 high-demand sectors such as Information Technology, Automotive, Agriculture, Electronics, Logistics, BFSI and Tourism. Each lab is equipped with modern machinery, digital tools and simulation-based learning modules. In line with NEP 2020 and the CBSE curriculum, 1,200 vocational teachers have been trained to deliver industry-relevant learning, building an early pipeline of future-ready talent. This initiative will ensure that skilling starts at the school level, empowering students to explore multiple career pathways early in life.

In his address, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi underscored the central role of Industrial Training Institutes in shaping India’s skilled workforce. He said, “ITIs are not only premier institutions of industrial education, they are also the workshops of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.” He noted that these institutes are nurturing millions of young Indians with practical knowledge and employable skills, turning them into confident contributors to the nation’s economy. The Prime Minister emphasised that as India marches towards becoming a skill-based economy, ITIs will remain the bedrock of this transformation, equipping youth with the tools to thrive in a rapidly evolving global market.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, said: “Today, Hon’ble Prime Minister has given a clear message to India’s youth — focus on your skills, pursue quality education and keep moving forward with confidence. Eleven years ago, when he created a dedicated Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, he laid the strong foundation for a Viksit Bharat. With initiatives like Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh, PM-SETU and the Skill Labs, we are carrying forward that vision to empower every young Indian to become self-reliant, capable and globally competitive.”

These announcements reaffirm the Government’s commitment to transforming India into a skill-based economy, preparing youth for opportunities in India and across the world, and accelerating the journey towards Viksit Bharat @2047.
