Guwahati; June 30, 2026: Heart disease and hypertension are among India’s most pressing public health concerns. According to National Family Health Survey-5, 2021 nearly 1 in 5 Indian adults (21.3%) suffer from hypertension, with prevalence rising to almost 48% among those aged 60 years and above, highlighting the urgent need for early detection and preventive care in India. High blood pressure is widely known as a “silent” condition because it develops without visible symptoms, quietly affecting the heart and blood vessels over time. One of the key contributors to this rising crisis is excessive sodium consumption. The World Health Organization estimates that nearly 1.89 million deaths globally each year are linked to high sodium intake, highlighting the seriousness of the issue. In India, where salt is an integral part of daily cooking and processed food consumption is increasing, most people unknowingly consume far more sodium than recommended.

Excessive sodium intake is a major contributor to hypertension. Although the World Health Organization recommends that adults should consume less than 5 grams of salt per day (approximately 2,000 mg of sodium), studies indicate that average daily salt intake in India ranges between 8 and 11 grams, with some recent estimates suggesting consumption is closer to 11 grams, more than double the recommended limit. The challenge lies not only in the amount of salt consumed but also in its deep-rooted role in shaping taste preferences, making it difficult for people to cut back without feeling they are compromising on flavour.

Reducing sodium intake is an important step in supporting overall health. Excess sodium consumption is linked to high blood pressure, which may increase the risk of heart disease.

Products such as Tata Salt Lite, which contain 15% less sodium compared to regular salt, can help manage daily sodium intake while maintaining taste. Lower-sodium alternatives are recommended by global health bodies like the World Health Organization (WHO), which notes that reducing sodium can contribute to better blood pressure control and lower cardiovascular risk, especially in populations with high sodium consumption.

Experts from institutions such as AIIMS have also highlighted that low-sodium salts, when used appropriately, can support heart health. However, individuals with specific medical conditions (such as kidney disease or those on certain medications) should consult a healthcare professional before making dietary changes.

Ultimately, addressing India’s growing concerns around high sodium consumption does not require extreme dietary changes. Small, consistent steps, such as choosing a lower-sodium salt variant like Tata Salt Lite, reducing intake of high-salt processed foods, and being mindful of hidden sources of sodium, can support healthier dietary habits over time. Increasing awareness and making informed choices can contribute to overall well-being as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

Why This Simple Swap Matters

· Making the shift to lower-sodium salt can support better dietary practices over the long term:

· Helps manage daily sodium intake as part of a balanced diet

· Supports maintenance of normal blood pressure when combined with a healthy lifestyle

· Encourages mindful consumption of salt in everyday meals

· Maintains the familiar taste of home-cooked food

Beyond switching salt, adopting simple complementary habits, such as choosing fresh foods, limiting intake of processed items, and using herbs and spices for flavour, can support healthier dietary practices as part of a balanced diet and overall lifestyle.

Concerns around high sodium intake may be multifactorial; however, informed food choices in everyday meals can contribute to improved dietary patterns over time. Making mindful choices today can support overall well-being as part of a healthy lifestyle.

International Yoga Day 2026 was celebrated across the country with people from all walks of life coming together to embrace the importance of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. From public parks and community centres to schools, workplaces, and residential societies, yoga sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation, reflecting the growing awareness around physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic health.

In today’s fast-paced world, where stress, sedentary lifestyles, and health concerns have become increasingly common, yoga continues to serve as a simple yet effective practice that promotes both physical and emotional well-being. Beyond improving flexibility and fitness, yoga encourages mindfulness, discipline, and inner balance, making it relevant for people of all age groups.

The occasion also highlighted the growing role of communities in promoting healthier living. Across residential developments and neighbourhoods, families came together to participate in group yoga sessions, strengthening social connections while adopting positive lifestyle habits. Such initiatives not only encourage wellness but also foster a sense of belonging and collective responsibility towards healthier communities.

With preventive healthcare and overall well-being becoming a key focus area for individuals and families, yoga has evolved into much more than a fitness activity. It has become a way of life that helps people maintain balance, manage stress, and improve their quality of life. As participation continues to grow year after year, International Yoga Day serves as a reminder of the importance of making health and wellness a daily priority.

Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Mr. Vikas Bhasin, Managing Director, Saya Group, said, “We wish everyone a very Happy International Yoga Day 2026. At Saya Homes, we believe that good health and a peaceful life are essential for overall well-being. Yoga is a way of life that nurtures us mentally, physically, and spiritually. We are delighted that more than 200 families at Saya Gold Avenue, Indirapuram, came together to celebrate International Yoga Day and committed themselves to making yoga a part of their daily routine.”

Nearly 40% of adults are at risk of fatty liver disease which has emerged as a growing health concern

12th June 2026, Ahmedabad, India: Zydus Lifesciences Limited, an innovation-driven global life sciences company, today launched the second edition of its public health awareness campaign, #LiverKiSuno, on the occasion of Global Fatty Liver Day. The campaign seeks to raise awareness about liver health and encourage individuals to pay attention to silent risks that often go unnoticed until liver disease has progressed significantly.

Watch the ad film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_G3J1BwJmzc

Fatty liver disease has emerged as a growing public health concern, with nearly 40% of adults estimated to be at risk. Despite its increasing prevalence, the condition often remains undetected due to the absence of obvious symptoms in its early stages. Through ‘Liver Ki Suno’, Zydus aims to encourage greater awareness, timely screening and proactive management of liver health.

The campaign highlights key metabolic risk factors that can adversely affect the liver, including diabetes, excess body weight and high triglycerides. Their roles are similar to ‘villains’ who cause extensive damage. To bring this message to life, the campaign features acclaimed actor Ashish Vidyarthi, known for portraying some of Indian cinema’s most memorable villains. Drawing a contrast between villains on screen and hidden health risks within the body, the films encourages individuals to recognise these silent threats and take timely action to protect their liver health.

The ad film has been scripted and produced by TheSmallBigIdea (TSBI), with the agency overseeing the campaign’s creative development, production and post-production. The campaign is live across digital and social platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X.

As part of the initiative, Zydus encourages individuals, particularly those living with diabetes, excess body weight or elevated triglyceride levels, to discuss liver health with their healthcare professionals and consider incorporating liver scans into routine health check-ups.

New Delhi, India, 12th June’26: This Father’s Day, Kailash Healthcare is urging families to celebrate the men who have always put their loved ones first by prioritising their health. Through its special awareness campaign, “Papa Fit Toh Life Hit,” the healthcare provider aims to encourage timely health screenings and greater awareness of preventive healthcare among fathers.

The campaign is being conducted from June 7 to June 30th June, 2026. As part of the campaign, fathers can avail specially designed preventive health check-up packages at discounted rates, along with consultations aimed at encouraging early detection and proactive health management.

While fathers are often the first to step forward during family emergencies and milestones, many tend to postpone their own health assessments due to busy schedules and responsibilities. This delay in seeking medical attention can sometimes lead to the late diagnosis of health conditions that could otherwise be effectively managed through early intervention.

Recognising this challenge, Kailash Healthcare has introduced specially curated Father’s Day health screening packages designed to encourage timely health evaluations and greater awareness of overall wellness. The initiative underscores the importance of preventive healthcare in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, particularly among middle-aged and senior adults.

Speaking about the campaign, Dr. Pallavi Sharma, Director of Kailash Group of Hospitals, said, “Good health is one of the greatest gifts a family can give to a father. Through our ‘Papa Fit Toh Life Hit’ campaign, we want to encourage families to move beyond conventional celebrations and focus on something that can have a lasting impact on their loved ones’ lives. Regular health check-ups can help detect potential health concerns early and support healthier outcomes in the long run.”

As India continues to witness a rise in lifestyle-related health conditions, healthcare professionals are increasingly advocating routine screenings as a key component of preventive care. Early diagnosis not only improves treatment outcomes but also empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

Through this Father’s Day initiative, Kailash Healthcare aims to strengthen awareness around preventive healthcare and encourage families to start meaningful conversations about health at home. The campaign serves as a reminder that taking care of fathers today can help ensure many healthier and memorable years with their families’ tomorrow.

Kailash Healthcare Ltd – Boilerplate

Kailash Healthcare Ltd. is a trusted and leading network of nine multi-speciality and super-specialty hospitals, including a dedicated Health Village, an Ayurvedic Hospital, and a Wellness Centre across Delhi-NCR and Uttarakhand.
Medical experts actively sensitized participants throughout the day on the severe health risks of nicotine addiction and practical cessation measures. Dr. Deepayan Paul conducted an interactive educational session for more than 70 contract workers, addressing their specific health concerns and encouraging them to quit tobacco use. Additionally, Dr. Rakesh Anand, Physician, led a dedicated awareness programme for over 50 deployed CISF personnel, highlighting the adverse impacts of consumption and the critical role of early intervention. Through these collaborative efforts involving its top management, medical staff, and security personnel, NTPC Bongaigaon successfully reaffirmed its commitment to preventive healthcare and a tobacco-free future.

Healthcare Is Moving Home. And It Is Happening Faster Than Expected

Healthcare has traditionally been built around episodes, a test, a consultation, a report. The assumption has been that risk will reveal itself when it matters. But in reality, most physiological changes build over time. Body fat increases gradually, muscle mass declines over time, and cardiovascular markers shift with stress and poor recovery. None of this feels urgent in isolation, which is why it often goes unnoticed. By the time it surfaces clinically, the change is already well established, adding to the growing burden of lifestyle-led conditions.

What is shifting now is not just access to data, but its continuity. Healthcare devices are moving beyond single metrics to offer a more layered view of the body. But the real impact is behavioural. When these signals are tracked consistently, they begin to form patterns. And patterns tap into deeper human drivers, the need for control, security, and long-term well-being. That is where the change becomes meaningful. Health moves upstream, from reacting late to noticing early, shaped as much by human instinct as by technology.

Madeline Tersigni, Product Marketing Manager at WITHINGS, shared, “Preventive care has always depended on early awareness, but that awareness has traditionally been limited by how infrequently meaningful data could be captured. What is changing now is the ability to observe the body as it evolves, not as it presents at a single point in time. When trends across parameters like body composition, cardiovascular signals, and recovery start to emerge early, individuals are in a far stronger position to act before these changes translate into more serious conditions. It also enables more informed engagement with healthcare professionals, where decisions are supported by patterns rather than isolated readings, making interventions both earlier and more precise.”

The behavioural impact of this shift is often understated. Health advice framed around distant outcomes has always struggled to influence present choices. When the consequence of daily habits becomes visible within days rather than years, the equation changes. The feedback loop shortens. What was once abstract begins to feel immediate, and therefore actionable.

There are still gaps that need addressing. Generating data is not the same as making sense of it. Clinical integration remains uneven, with few structured pathways to incorporate continuous consumer health data into routine care. Access, too, remains skewed towards those already inclined towards preventive health.

Even so, the trajectory is difficult to ignore. Healthcare systems are under pressure to intervene earlier, manage chronic conditions more effectively, and reduce long term costs. Continuous health tracking aligns directly with that need by making early signals visible and usable. The shift, therefore, is not incremental but foundational. The check-up was designed to catch problems. The check-in is beginning to predict them, and that distinction is likely to define the next phase of healthcare.
