POWERGRID Marks Swachhata Pakhwada with Cleanliness Drive and Public Awareness Campaign

Gurugram. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, is observing *Swachhata Pakhwada* across its offices nationwide, reinforcing its commitment to the vision of a cleaner, healthier, and greener India. As part of the campaign, employees took the Swachhata Pledge, reaffirming their dedication to cleanliness in workplaces, communities, and daily life. A cleanliness drive was also conducted around office premises and surrounding areas to promote a hygienic environment. The initiative was led by Shri Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra, CMD, along with Shri G. Ravisankar, Director (Finance), Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel), Shri Naveen Srivastava, Director (Operations), and other senior officials at the Corporate Centre in Gurugram.

To further spread the message of cleanliness and civic responsibility, POWERGRID organized a *Nukkad Natak* (street play) to engage the public and create awareness about sanitation and environmental stewardship. The observance reflects the organization’s broader commitment to sustainable development and community participation. As of 30 May 2026, POWERGRID operates 291 substations, over 185,102 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, and 628,516 MVA of transformation capacity. Leveraging advanced technologies, automation, and digital solutions, the company continues to maintain an average transmission system availability of more than 99.78%, underscoring its leadership in India’s power transmission sector.

Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, has conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) upon Shri Ravindra Kumar Tyagi, Chairman and Managing Director, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the power sector and advancements in electrical engineering, science, and technology. The honour was presented by Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, during the 55th Convocation Ceremony. A distinguished technocrat and innovator, Shri Tyagi has pioneered 1200 kV systems, eco-friendly transformers, and AI-based asset management solutions. He has represented India in international forums, chaired key technical bodies, and authored influential research papers. An alumnus of PEC and IIT Delhi, and a Fulbright Scholar from Carnegie Mellon University, Shri Tyagi’s 35-year career spans leadership roles across multiple domains of POWERGRID and India’s power sector.
