He was recognized for his outstanding leadership in enhancing POWERGRID’s operational performance through the implementation of ISO 55001 standards, advanced digital initiatives, and globally benchmarked asset management practices. During the conference, which saw participation from over 25 countries, he also delivered a key technical presentation on driving digitalization and reliability-centered maintenance, underscoring POWERGRID’s commitment to strengthening India’s power transmission network through innovation and excellence.

Shri Taori was selected for the top finance role from a competitive pool of 12 candidates interviewed by the selection board. The shortlisted contenders included senior executives from Power Grid, Grid Controller of India Limited (Grid-India), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), and Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited, among other major enterprises.

POWERGRID’s recognition in the Climate Change category reflects its initiatives promoting energy-efficient transmission infrastructure, and integrating sustainability into project execution.

The Green World Awards, instituted by The Green Organisation, U.K., are among the globally recognised environmental honours, celebrating organisations that demonstrate measurable progress in sustainability, carbon reduction, and environmental management.

The company’s board has declared a second interim dividend of ?3.25 per equity share, taking the total interim dividend for FY26 to Rs.7.75 per share, including the first interim dividend of Rs.4.50 per share. POWERGRID incurred a capital expenditure of Rs.26,761 crore during the first nine months of FY26 and capitalised assets worth Rs.12,915 crore on a consolidated basis. Its gross fixed assets, including gross lease receivables, rose to Rs.3.04 lakh crore as on December 31, 2025, crossing the Rs.3 trillion mark for the first time, while works in hand stood at around Rs.1.45 lakh crore by the end of January 2026.

Operationally, POWERGRID continued to expand its footprint, securing its first battery energy storage system project at Kalikiri in Andhra Pradesh under the build-own-operate model through the tariff-based competitive bidding route. As of January 29, 2026, the company and its subsidiaries operated 1.83 lakh circuit kilometres of transmission lines, 287 substations and nearly 6 lakh MVA of transformation capacity, maintaining an average system availability of 99.84 percent during the nine-month period. In line with its sustainability goals, the company met 50 percent of its power consumption from renewable sources and commissioned Asia’s first 315 MVA, 400/220 kV synthetic ester oil-filled transformer at its HVDC Bhiwadi substation.

Advising emerging leaders, Dr Mittal stressed continuous learning, resilience, authentic communication and building a strong values-based leadership identity, stating that leadership is defined by influence and impact rather than titles. The conference also featured Ms Manju Gupta, Chair (WIE), CIGRE India, who outlined the WIE India Future Action Plan aimed at enhancing opportunities, visibility and leadership pathways for women in the energy sector. The proposed Cross-Border Transmission System Projects include the development of the Inaruwa (Nepal) – New Purnea (India) 400 kV Double Circuit (Quad Moose) Transmission Link and Lamki (Dododhara) (Nepal) – Bareilly (India) 400 kV Double Circuit (Quad Moose) Transmission Link. Once completed, these transmission corridors will substantially enhance the electricity exchange between India and Nepal, strengthening regional energy security, improving grid resilience, and contributing to sustained economic growth in both nations.

As on 15th October 2025, POWERGRID has commissioned and is operating 287 substations, and more than 1,80,864 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, and 5,81,831 MVA of transformation capacity. POWERGRID has been able to maintain average transmission system availability of 99.83%.
