										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In addition to development of five National Waterways (NWs) (NW-1 to NW-5), development of 14 new NWs has been approved by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India in the States of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Goa, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra and Assam.</p>
<p>Jawai-Luni-Rann of Kutch River System has been declared as National Waterway-48 for a total length of 615 km (205 km in Rajasthan &amp; 410 km in Gujarat) under National Waterways Act, 2016 along with 111 NWs in the country. As per the final feasibility Report, NW-48 has not been found feasible for development for shipping and navigation.</p>
<p>There is no proposal to construct Bhawatraport and hence the question of time limit for its construction does not arise. List of new NWs sanctioned under Phase-I development</p>

<li>NW-8- Alappuzha-Changanassery Canal in Kerala</li>
<li>NW-9- Alappuzha-Athirampuza Canal in Kerala</li>
<li>NW-27-Cumberjua River in Goa</li>
<li>NW-68- Mandovi River in Goa</li>
<li>NW-111- Zuari River in Goa</li>
<li>NW-86- River Rupnarayan in West Bengal</li>
<li>NW-97- Sundarbans Waterways in West Bengal</li>
<li>NW-40- Ghaghra River in U.P. &amp; Bihar</li>
<li>NW-44- Ichamati River in West Bengal</li>
<li>NW-10- Amba River in Maharashtra</li>
<li>NW-28-Dabhol Creek Vashisthi River in Maharashtra</li>
<li>NW-57- Kopili River in Assam</li>
<li>NW-31- Dhansiri River in Assam</li>
<li>NW-16- River Barak in Assam</li>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Six port clusters out of which four port clusters i.e. Cochin – Vizhinjam Port cluster, Galathea South Bay Port, Chennai -Kamarajar –Cuddalore Port cluster, Paradip and Other Non-Major Ports cluster with capacity of more than 300 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) and two port clusters i.e. Deendayal and Tuna Tekra Port cluster, Jawaharlal Nehru – Vadhavan Port cluster with capacity of more than 500 MTPA are to be developed as Mega Ports by the year 2047. The activities to be undertaken by Major Ports for augmentation of capacity and improving infrastructure are included in the Maritime AmritKaal Vision, 2047. The works for Infrastructure enhancement and capacity augmentation in the Major Ports are already under progress through Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and also through internal resources.</p>

<p>This information was given by the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha today.</p>
