महाराष्ट्र में बीजेपी के लिए सबसे बड़ी चुनौती है . 2019 में बीजेपी शिवसेना ने मिलकर 48 में से 42 सीटें जीत ली थी लेकिन अब शिवसेना में फूट और महाविकास आघाड़ी के तीन दलों की एकजुटता के डर से बीजेपी ने इस बार कई नये चेहरे उतारने की तैयारी शुरु कर दी है . पार्टी अपने 22सांसदों में से कम से कम 8 को बदल सकती है. इसलिए पार्टी ने उन चेहरों पर बात करना शुरु कर दिया है जो नये हो लेकिन लोग उन्हें जानते हैं. सबसे पहला दांव पुराने रिटायर या वर्तमान सरकारी आईएएस और आईपीएस पर खेला जायेगा .महाराष्ट्र में अब तक तीन ऐसे सीनियर की तलाश हो चुकी है . उनसे पर्दे के पीछे से बात की जा रही है.

सबसे सीनियर और सरकार में इस समय नीति आयोग के साथ काम कर रहे प्रवीण परदेशी को विदर्भ की सीट से उतारा जा सकता है. प्रवीण परदेशी को दिल्ली के काम के बाद वापस लाया जा रहा है. परदेशी की ख्याति लातूर में भूकंप के दौरान बहुत बढिया काम करने की रही है वो मुख्य सचिव पद के भी दावेदार थे लेकिन चूक गये .अब वो राजनीती में हाथ आजमाना चाहते हे. दूसरे बड़े अफसर अभी की सरकार का वार रूम संभाल रहे और मुंबई नागपुर समृर्दि महामार्ग बनाने वाले राधेश्याम मोपलवार है जिन पर शिवसेना शिंदे गुट और बीजेपी दोनो की नजर लगी हुयी है उनको परभणी हिंगोली की सीट पर उतारा जा सकता है. मोपलवार जमीनी स्तर पर कई काम कर चुके है और मराठवाड़ा में पानी पंचायत का काम करवा चुके हैं.

तीसरे अफसर मुंबई पुलिस आयुक्त रह चुके परमवीर सिंह है जो अब बीजेपी के बहुत करीब है . पिछली सरकार में उनकी बड़े खराब तरीके से विदाई हुयी थी लेकिन अब उनको क्लीन चिट मिल चुकी है और उनका निलबंन भी खत्म हो चुका है . परमवीर महाराष्ट्र के बजाय हरियाणा या राजस्थान की किसी गूजर बहुल सीट से बीजेपी के उम्मीदवार हो सकते है. बीजेपी पहले भी सरकारी अफसरों को टिकट देने का प्रयोग कर चुकी है, 2014 में मुंबई के सह पुलिस आयुक्त सत्यपाल मलिक इस्तीफा देकर चुनाव लड़े थे और जीतकर मंत्री भी बने . इस बार भी कम से कम छह पूर्व अफसर महाराष्ट्र के चुनाव लड़ना चाहते हैं. कहा तो ये भी जा रहा है कि विवादित अफसर समीर वानखेड़े ने भी संघ प्रमुख मोहन भागवत से मिलकर चुनाव लड़ने की इच्छा जतायी थी लेकिन अभी वो फंसे हुये हैं.

इसके अलावा भाजपा महाराष्ट्र के दो सीनियर मंत्री जो अब तक राज्यसभा की राजनीति करते रहे है उनको लोकसभा लड़ने कह रही है. इनमे सबसे बड़ा नाम पीयूष गोयल का है जिनको मीरा भायंदर वाली सीट पर लड़ने कहा जा रहा है और वो जमीन तलाश रहे हैं. इनके अलावा प्रकाश जावड़ेकर भी अब राज्यसभा में नही है तो उनको चुनाव लड़ने कहा जा रहा है . साथ ही चर्चा ये भी है कि बीजेपी के सबसे बड़े चेहरे और उपमुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फणनवीस को भी मुंबई की किसी लोकसभा सीट से उतारा जा सकता है. असल में बीजेपी को चिंता है कि इस बार चेहरे नहीं बदले तो मुश्किल हो सकती है .

Delhi Police had told the top court that “no specific words against any community were uttered” at an event organised here by the ‘Hindu Yuva Vahini’ on December 19 last year.

“The affidavit has been filed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police. We hope he has understood the nuances. Has he merely reproduced the inquiry report or applied mind? Is it your stand as well or the reproduction of inquiry report of sub-inspector level officer?” a bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and Abhay S Oka asked.

The bench questioned can such a stand be taken on an affidavit before the court and wanted to know who verified the affidavit and if Delhi Police was accepting it as a correct finding.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) K M Nataraj, appearing for the Delhi Police, said they will have a “re-look” of the matter and file a fresh affidavit.

“The ASG seeks time to get instructions from authorities to file a better affidavit… Two weeks time prayed for. List this matter on May 9. Better affidavit be filed on or before May 4,” the bench said.

The top court was hearing a petition filed by journalist Qurban Ali and former Patna High Court judge and senior advocate Anjana Prakash, who has also sought a direction for an “independent, credible and impartial investigation” by an SIT into incidents of hate speeches against the Muslim community.

As the hearing commenced, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the petitioners, drew the attention of the bench towards extracts of the speech and the enquiry report of the Sub Inspector (PS Okhla Industrial Area).

The counter affidavit of the Delhi Police says an inquiry has been conducted and that the persons had gathered to ‘save ethics of their community .

In the speech in question, they say, ‘We are ready to kill’! And the Delhi Police say it is to ‘save the ethics of the community? Your Lordships may fix it for hearing and decide what constitutionally ethics are ” Sibal said.

The bench then asked the law officer if any senior officer has verified the affidavit.

“Some superior officer has seen it? Who has verified it? Has there been an application of mind as to if this stand can be taken on affidavit before the court? This affidavit is filed by the deputy commissioner of police? He accepts this position?

“Is this his understanding or only a reproduction of IO’s report? We want to understand from you the affidavit filed before this court by the deputy commissioner of police, a senior officer, the bench said.

The apex court asked the ASG if Delhi Police was accepting it as a correct finding?

This is the reproduction of the inquiry report prepared by a sub-inspector level officer or is it your stand? If it is so, then we have to ask the Commissioner of Police to look into it if this is your stand also?” the bench said.

Mumbai: Passport applicants in the Andheri neigh bourhood, as is typical, must wait in massive queues and endure unnecessary delays when having their passports validated at the Andheri Police Station. The police officers were having problems handling the crowd as well, and there was no mechanism to handle the crowd of applicants until today.

This became a matter of concern, and an Andheri resident and CEO of a bootstrapped start-up Promodome Digital, Vivek Kataruka , couldn’t stand the predicament of passport applicants and police officers from these police stations, who had to go through a gruelling process merely to get their passports verified. Twice Kataruka had to wait for a longer time to get his passport verified in one of the Andheri Police stations, felt compelled to do something useful to help the police and the applicants save time, money, and make this experience more convenient for the majority of them. He came up with the brilliant idea of installing a Token ticket vending machine, which he felt would be the greatest solution for everyone. Banjara Hills police registered a case against BI Marketing and Services Pvt. Ltd. and its directors Samuel Sangeeth, Abhishek Moses and James Raymond Moses on charges of cheating Daiki Axis India Pvt. Ltd. by supplying under capacity Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and collecting excess amount.

One of the customers of Daiki placed an order with BI Marketing for 5KLD STP. “BI Marketing deceived this customer by supplying under-capacity STP after changing the nameplate of Sewage Treatment Plant from 3,000 litres per day (3KLD) to 5,000 litres per day (5KLD) and collected the price of 5 KLD STP from instead of 3 KLD STP,” police said, quoting the complaint copy lodged by Kailash Chandra Pandey of Daiki.

Due to the supply of an under-capacity plant, the customer faced overflow after installation of STP and negative observations from local pollution control board officials and requested Daiki to upgrade/ rectify/ replace the plant.

Hundreds of farmers affiliated to the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) and other groups had gathered at UP border on Tuesday evening. Heavy security was deployed to prevent them from proceeding towards Delhi to join farmers of Punjab and Haryana in their protest.

Farmers are protesting against the three agricultural laws passed by Parliament in September. The three laws, that according to the farmers would make them vulnerable to exploitation by big corporations, are – The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.

However, the government has stuck to its stance that the laws are beneficial for the farmers. On his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “New dimensions are being added to agriculture and its related activities in India. The agriculture reforms in the past few days have also now opened new doors of possibilities for our farmers.”

Punjab’s farmer unions have changed their strategy of taking only the highways to the national capital. They plan to enter Haryana through other routes .meanwhile Dehli and Haryana police barricaded many routs coming to Dehli. Metro and bus services also affected badly forcing many to work from home only .

While activists of the Bharti Kisan Union Ekta-Ugrahan and Sidhupur factions have been camping on the Punjab-Haryana border at Khanauri and Moonak, respectively, in Sangrur district since Wednesday evening, other farmer unions have changed their plans and decided to head for Delhi from other entry points.

Thousands of farmers from  Punjab are assembling at the border of Haryana for their march and  ready for any confrontation with the security personnel .A showdown is likely with farmers from five states – Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Punjab – planning a march to Delhi today and tomorrow. The Delhi government has refused to allow any rally in the city.

Haryana has sealed borders with Punjab today and tomorrow after orders from Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Massive security arrangement, complete with barricades, water cannons and riot vehicles have been made on roads from Punjab to thwart the protest march. Prohibitory orders banning large gatherings have been imposed in the state.

Haryana has also suspended bus service to and from Punjab for the next two days and diverted all traffic from the blocked roads.

Farmers from Punjab camped at the Haryana border for the night. They said they will hold a sit-down protest wherever they are stopped by the neighbouring state. The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan) has claimed that over two lakh farmers associated with it will enter Haryana.

The farmers have brought ration, vegetables, wood and other essentials for the march. In view of the cold weather, they have also stocked quilts, blankets and covered their trolleys with tarpaulin. “We are ready for the battle, which may last long,” said BKU (Ekta-Ugarhan) general secretary Sukhdev Singh Kokrikalan. The farmers have said they will not return till the matter is settled

The Maharashtra Police on Wednesday arrested Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami house in connection with the suicide of interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik in Alibaug in 2018.

Republic TV in its report claimed that Goswami was “assaulted and dragged” during the arrest. Goswami reportedly said that Mumbai Police also physically assaulted his mother-in-law and father-in-law, son and wife.

Meanwhile Several Union Ministers are among those who have condemned the arrest as a reminder of the Emergency.

“Congress and its allies have shamed democracy once again. Blatant misuse of state power against Republic TV and Arnab Goswami is an attack on individual freedom and the 4th pillar of democracy. It reminds us of the Emergency. This attack on free press must be and WILL BE OPPOSED,” tweeted Home Minister Amit Shah as reports emerged of Arnab Goswami’s arrest.

“We condemn the attack on press freedom in Maharashtra. This is not the way to treat the Press. This reminds us of the emergency days when the press was treated like this,” posted Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar.

Naik, a 53-year-old interior designer, and his mother Kumud Naik had died by suicide in May 2018. A suicide note purportedly written by Naik claimed that Goswami and two others owed him Rs 5.4 crore and had refused to pay it back, forcing him to take the extreme step.

The monetary transaction had taken place during the construction of Republic TV studio. When Naik’s mother learned about Naik’s death, she too killed herself.

The Alibaug police had registered a case of abetment to suicide the same month but the case was reportedly closed by the Raigad police in 2019.

But in May this year the Maharashtra government ordered a fresh investigation into the case against Goswami and two others by the state Criminal Investigation Department.

Another Dalit woman died in Uttar Pradesh after two men allegedly raped her in Balrampur district even when govt facing heat on Hathras case . The police said the accused took the woman to a doctor after raping her, but when her condition deteriorated, they sent her home. meanwhile BSP supremo Mayawati attacked the Uttar Pradesh government, saying there is no rule of left in the state. “After Hathras and Balrampur incident, it is confirmed that there is no rule of law in UP,” Mayawati said.

Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi will visit Hathras in UP today to meet the family of the 19-year-old who was gang-raped and killed. The 19-year-old died on Tuesday, prompting outrage, protests and calls for justice. Even as the nation expressed outrage over the Nirbhaya-like case, the UP Police cremated her body in the dead of the night, while her family remained inside their house. The UP Police have, however, claimed that the cremation took place as per ‘the family’s wishes’. As the nation saw visuals of her last rites sans family, public outrage poured in. The opposition launched an all-out attack on the government and demanded CM Yogi Adityanath’s resignation. The Uttar Pradesh government has, meanwhile, constituted an SIT to probe the case. Balrampur Superintendent of Police Dev Ranjan Verma said the incident happened in the Gaisari area of the district. “The woman’s family members said she worked at a private firm,” he told The Indian Express. “On Tuesday, she did not return till late night. When they tried to contact her on phone, they could not reach her.”

Verma added that later in the night, the woman returned on a rickshaw, with glucose drips attached to her arm. “ She was rushed to a hospital, but died on the way,” he said.

“In the complaint, the family members have alleged that two youth raped the girl and then took her to a doctor,” Verma said. “When her condition deteriorated, instead of taking her to a hospital, they sent her home. We have arrested both the accused.” He added that a first information report was registered and further investigation was underway.

The woman’s mother said the 22-year-old was abducted while on her way to work in the morning, according to NDTV. When she failed to return in time, the family had approached the police

“The men had injected her with some substance due to which she lost consciousness,” the mother added. “Then they raped her… They broke her back, they broke her limbs. When my child returned, she could barely stand or speak.”

The mother said that after returning, her daughter complained of burning pain in her stomach. “The doctor at the local hospital said her condition was serious and advised that she be taken to Lucknow,” she added. “But she died when we were near Balrampur town.”

Members of the minority community pelted stones at the residence of Congress MLA Akhanda Shrinivasa Murthy, DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations.

The police used lathi-charge, tear gas and firing to disperse the violent crowd.

“DG Halli and KG Halli saw violent incidents. To bring this under control, police used lathi charge, tear gas and firing. Police Commissioner went to the spot. Police bandobast is in place. Strict action will be taken against those offenders,” the Bengaluru police posted on Twitter.

While 24 four-wheelers were set on fire, 200 bikes that were burnt have been kept at a police station. A police station was damaged in the violence.

Bengaluru police commissioner Kamal Pant said the situation has been brought under control. While a curfew has been imposed in the violence-hit areas of DG Halli and KG Halli till tomorrow morning, large gatherings have been banned in the rest of Bengaluru city.

“…the offence is committed. I condemn the demand for the @itsSSR case to be handed to #CBI. The case is now being politicised for political gains. #MaharashtraPolice is inquiring into the case professionally and are competent in digging out the truth, leaving no stone unturned!” he added.

Rajput’s father lodged a police complaint against actor Rhea Chakraborty and her family members and the department registered a first information report (FIR) under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including abetment to suicide.

Rajput’s father alleged that Chakraborty and her family kept his son away from his family, handled his bank accounts and took away crores of rupees. His FIR mentioned that when she found Rajput’s bank balance was depleting, she left his house on June 8 and took cash, jewellery and his medical reports along with her, and also blocked his mobile number.
