]]> The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched the Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) to help passengers identify crowded coaches before trains arrive at the platform, thereby improving travel comfort during peak hours. This innovative system compares the current weight of each coach to its empty weight, estimating the crowding percentage for coaches such as C1, C2, C3, etc. By providing real-time data on coach occupancy levels, the PIDS enables commuters to make informed boarding decisions and avoid overcrowded coaches, especially during busy periods like mornings and evenings. Currently being piloted on the Magenta Line, this feature aims to enhance passenger convenience and safety, with plans for expansion across other routes if successful.

Enhancing Passenger Experience with Real-Time Information and Upgrades

In addition to crowding information, the new systems offer real-time updates such as train arrival times, door opening directions, and current time displays. They also include passenger awareness videos, audio messages, and advertisement displays, contributing to a more engaging and informed travel experience. These upgrades, being gradually implemented across 70 trains on Lines 1, 3, and 4, aim to improve overall efficiency and comfort for Delhi Metro commuters. The phased rollout signifies DMRC’s commitment to leveraging technology for smarter, safer, and more passenger-friendly metro services.
