The session focused on PFC’s brand identity, strategic media management, and reputation building, while sharing valuable perspectives with 14 newly inducted colleagues from the IIMs and IITs. The interaction underscored the importance of effective communication in strengthening PFC’s institutional image and supporting its mission of excellence.

The conference was inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Power Minister Shri Manohar Lal, who highlighted the critical role of DISCOMs and the positive impact of ongoing sector reforms.

Smt. Parminder Chopra, CMD, PFC, chaired a key panel discussion on “Viability of DISCOMs and Cost-Reflective Tariffs”, focusing on financial discipline, renewable integration costs and long-term sustainability. Shri V. Packirisamy, Executive Director, PFC, made a presentation on the financial viability of DISCOMs, sharing important insights and reform imperatives.

Commenting on the results, Chairman and Managing Director, Ms. Parminder Chopra, said, “PFC continues to deliver another record quarter, driven by robust operational and financial performance. We achieved double-digit loan asset growth of 14%, supported by the highest-ever half-yearly disbursement of ₹86,000 crore. Our renewable portfolio grew impressively by 32% year-on-year, reinforcing PFC’s role as a trusted partner in India’s energy transition journey.”

She added, *“In line with our commitment to deliver consistent shareholder value, the Board has declared an interim dividend of ₹3.65 per share for the quarter. Continuing with our endeavour to strengthen ESG disclosures, PFC released its second ESG report in reference to GRI standards. With strong fundamentals, we remain confident of sustaining our growth momentum and enhancing value creation for all stakeholders.”*

The workshop focused on enhancing awareness of vigilance-related issues, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring strict adherence to established procedures and accountability mechanisms.

Through initiatives like this, PFC continues to lead by example in promoting a culture of integrity, transparency, and good governance throughout the organisation.

The week-long observance began with the administration of the Integrity Pledge by Smt. Simmi R. Nakra, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), in the presence of Shri Manoj Sharma, Director (Commercial), and Shri Sandeep Kumar, Director (Finance). Senior officials and employees of PFC participated in the pledge ceremony, collectively reinforcing the spirit of ethical conduct and good governance.

This milestone reflects India–Australia’s growing strategic and economic ties while advancing global clean energy cooperation.

Khorlochhu Hydro Power Ltd (KHPL), a strategic partnership with 60 per cent shareholding by Druk Green Power Corporation Ltd (DGPC) and 40 per cent by Tata Power Company Ltd, one of India’s largest integrated power companies, is developing the 600 megawatt (MW) Khorlochhu Hydropower Project in Bhutan. The project, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 6,900 crore, including financing charges, is expected to be commissioned in 2029-2030.

According to DGPC, KHPL signed the Rs 4,829 crore loan agreement with India’s NBFC Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC). The agreement also provides for a further standby credit facility of Rs 950 crore.

This landmark transaction marks PFC’s first cross-border financing in Bhutan and highlights the growing clean energy cooperation between India and Bhutan.

Under the agreement, PFC will be the sole lender to the project.

The Khorlochhu Hydropower Project in Trashiyangtse Dzongkhag is expected to generate 2,524 million units of electricity annually. The project will help meet Bhutan’s winter demand and enable the export of surplus power to India during the summer months.

Construction has already commenced, with civil contracts awarded and works underway since January 1, 2025. Power evacuation will involve a 145 km, 400 kV (kilovolt) double-circuit transmission line from the project to the Goling pooling station, which will be constructed by Bhutan Power Corporation Ltd.

Druk Green Power Corporation Ltd, a subsidiary of Druk Holding and Investments Ltd, is Bhutan’s sole generation utility with a portfolio of 3,473 MW of hydropower capacity. With a vision to achieve 15,000 MW of hydropower and 5,000 MW of solar capacity within the next decade, DGPC is central to Bhutan’s clean energy strategy.
