Focuses on pet care, body wash, liquid detergents, deodorants, air fresheners, and sexual wellness for Growth

Bengaluru, 09.05.2025: Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) is sharpening its focus on emerging high-growth categories such as pet care, body wash, liquid detergents, deodorants, air fresheners, and sexual wellness, as it positions itself to tap into a revival in consumer demand over the next 12 to 18 months. The company’s renewed optimism is fuelled by easing food inflation, potential income tax cuts, and expected pay commission hikes.

“We are bullish about revival in demand over the next 12-18 months for a variety of reasons,” said Sudhir Sitapati, MD and CEO, GCPL. Despite rising palm oil prices, Sitapati termed the inflation as a “short-term blip,” adding that the company has only passed on 15–16% of the cost increase to consumers.

Strategic Pivot to High-Growth Categories

To navigate slowing momentum in legacy categories, GCPL is accelerating its presence in future-facing segments. In April 2024, the company launched its pet care brand, ‘Godrej Ninja’, in Tamil Nadu, capitalizing on its marketing and manufacturing capabilities.

Other high-performing innovations include Fab Liquid Detergent, priced at ₹99, which has achieved an annual run rate revenue of ₹250 crore within just 12 months. In the deodorant space, GCPL is expanding accessibility with the ₹99 antiperspirant ‘Bloq’ and a more affordable version of KamaSutra deodorant.

Following its acquisition of Raymond Consumer Care’s FMCG business in 2023, GCPL also added legacy brands like Park Avenue and KamaSutra, bolstering its presence in personal grooming and sexual wellness categories.

Sustained Innovation in Core Segments

The company’s household insecticides category continues to be a growth driver, with Goodknight and Hit delivering double-digit growth in Q4. GCPL is also innovating with a patented molecule (RMF) in its electric and incense-based products, aiming to provide safer, regulated alternatives to harmful, illegal incense sticks.

₹700 Crore Capex and Global Expansion

To support its category expansion and innovation pipeline, GCPL is investing ₹700 crore over the next two years to add production lines in its North and South India plants, and to set up a new manufacturing facility in Indonesia—a key international market.

Quick Commerce Emerges as a Key Channel

GCPL is also witnessing strong traction from quick commerce platforms, which Sitapati described as a fast-growing and margin-friendly channel, particularly for mid-size packs that offer operational and financial efficiency.

Looking Ahead

GCPL has projected mid-to-high single-digit volume growth in FY26 and double-digit EBITDA growth in FY25, driven by continued demand recovery and moderating input costs.

Sitapati remains optimistic that GCPL’s focus on the “categories of tomorrow” will help the company weather short-term challenges and position it for long-term success.

Business Performance

Commenting on the business performance, Sudhir Sitapati, said: We delivered a sequentially improving performance in Q4 FY 2025, despite market conditions remaining the same. Our Consolidated organic volumes for Q4FY25 grew by 6%, led by the India business growing volumes at 4% and Indonesia growing volumes at 5%. This led to full-year organic volume growth delivery at 4% for our consolidated business, 5% for India and 6% for Indonesia. Our Consolidated organic revenue growth for Q4 and FY 2025 stood at 7% and 4% respectively.

Demand conditions in India have continued to be impacted by headwinds in urban consumption. Surge in palm oil prices by more than 50% is negatively impacting our EBITDA margin. Our reported Standalone EBITDA margin at 22.6% is lower than our normative margin. However, buoyed by a good season, we had a blockbuster performance in Household Insecticides which grew volumes in strong double digit. Our categories of Air Fresheners, Laundry Liquids, etc. have continued to deliver strong underlying volume growth. This helped deliver 4% volume growth on top of a 4% pricing growth led largely by soaps. The volume growth on the non-soaps’ portfolio was high single digit with soaps volume growth impacted by volume-price rebalancing.

In Indonesia, we continue to consistently deliver healthy performance with 5% volume growth and EBITDA margin expansion. In organic terms, Africa, USA and the Middle East sales grew by a strong 23% in INR terms and delivered 17% EBITDA margin resulting in the fifth consecutive quarter of profit and margin expansion.

We are on track in our journey to reduce wasted cost and are deploying this to drive profitable and sustainable volume growth across our portfolio through category development. We remain committed to our purpose of bringing the goodness of health and beauty to consumers in emerging markets.

~ Higher demand for products like cat and dog broth, chicken sticks, bacon strips, deshedding conditioners, serums, deep cleaning shampoos and trimmers ~

~ Metropolitans and Tier-I cities dominate order volumes with volume growth of over 120% YoY during FY25 ~

~ Pet parents across tier II and tier III cities boost demand for pet products with 75% and 60% YoY order volume growth respectively ~

~ Brand websites see prepaid orders increased by over 300%; Cash-on-Delivery orders grow 200% across online marketplaces ~

Bengaluru, 15th April 2025: Pet care products are becoming increasingly popular among Indian consumers, driven by the growing trend of pet parenting across the country. As India celebrated this year’s National Pets Day on April 11th, Unicommerce has revealed the shopping trends for pet care products during FY 2025.

According to transactions processed on Unicommerce’s platform, online order volumes for pet care products grew by 95% in FY 2025 as compared to FY 2024, highlighting the fast-emerging segment.

Pet care products comprise pet foods, including routine food and specialized dietary items, preventive care products and medicines, pet clothes and accessories, toys and groomers.

Led by new-age digital-first brands, the online pet care market has boomed with the entry of new products offering premium and customised products for pets, including for dogs, cats, fish, and birds. Unicommerce’s analysis highlights some of the popular products that have recently debuted across online platforms including a variety of natural and organic pet foods, therapeutic foods which contain supplements like probiotics, omega fatty acids and antioxidants. This reflects that pet owners are increasingly prioritising their pets’ health and wellbeing, leading to rise in demand for high-quality, specialised pet products.

Unicommerce powers some of India’s leading pet care brands, including Zigly, Just Dogs, Petwale, Pet Snugs, Pawpourii, Petedge, and Pawpular Pets.

Backed by technology, pet brands are leveraging their brand websites to offer a wider assortment of products along with personalised shopping experiences for their customers. These include products like custom-made pet clothes, leashes and collars, name tags, custom bedding, and mats, among other items. Many brands also offer subscription-based services, providing customized dietary meals on a regular basis, delivering medical supplies, and offering other veterinary services for pets. The analysis reveals that pet parents are increasingly shopping on brand websites as compared to online marketplaces.

Another insight shows that during FY25, brand websites observed over 300% YoY rise in prepaid order volumes, whereas online marketplaces saw over 200% growth in cash-on-delivery (COD) during the same period.

This trend of pet parenting is no longer limited to the affluent and high-income professional class that is fond of owning multiple pets. It is also being driven by pet lovers across mid-income groups, millennials, and Gen-Z groups.

The pet parenting culture is growing beyond metropolitan and tier I cities, which witnessed an order volume growth of over 120% YoY during FY25. Tier II and tier III cities also observed significant growth of over 75% and 60% YoY, respectively, showcasing the growing interest of customers in premium pet products across these regions.

Major demand pockets across metropolitan and Tier-I cities during FY25 include Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Gurgaon, followed by Tier-II cities including Indore, Nagpur, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, and Lucknow. Tier III cities that saw rising demand for pet care products include Thane, Panjim, Ernakulum, Gandhi Nagar, Udupi, and Rupnagar.

“Zigly is proud to be India’s first truly omnichannel pet care ecosystem,” said Ankur Gupta, IT Head, Zigly. “As pet parenting reaches new heights, we see technology as a key enabler in delivering seamless, end-to-end experiences for today’s pet families. Our partnership with Unicommerce strengthens this commitment by enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring a smoother post-purchase journey for every customer,” he added.

Ashish Anthony, Founder of Just Dogs said, “We are building a community for pet parents to help them learn and understand the needs of their pets. With technology ingrained in our business, we are expanding our omnichannel operations to seamlessly cater to the rising needs of our customers. Unicommerce plays a crucial role in enabling our online operations, ensuring automated fulfilment of our products across the country.”

Talking about the evolving trends in the pet care industry, Kapil Makhija, MD & CEO of Unicommerce said, “We are thrilled to see the rising consumer interest in pet care products across online platforms. Our technology serves as a support system for brands operating in different sectors, ensuring growth and greater consumer trust in this evolving market dynamics.”

• Zigly has opened stores in Lucknow, Indore, and Noida
• 41% repeat customers from the experience centres and e-commerce platform
• Achieved INR 3 Cr monthly GMV within 2 years; expects INR 5 Cr GMV with Tier 2 expansion

Mumbai, 12 September 2023: The demand for pet care is increasing rapidly in India. To cater to this demand, Zigly, (Cosmo First Limited) India’s first tech-enabled omnichannel pet care brand, marks its second anniversary with strategic expansion into Tier 2 cities.

With experience centres launched in Lucknow, Indore and Noida, Zigly aims to tap into these emerging pet care markets as part of their ambitious growth plan to achieve 2X expansion by 2024. The pet care industry in Tier II cities is still in its nascent stage compared to the major metros, but it has been gradually expanding. Tier II cities in India have been experiencing a growing trend in pet adoption and an increase in the demand for pet care services. Many tier II cities now have dedicated pet stores, grooming salons, and veterinary clinics to cater to the needs of pet owners. With this expansion, Zigly continues to redefine the pet care landscape, providing unparalleled services and products for beloved furry companions.

Further, as part of the second anniversary, Zigly will be organising their 2nd Birthday Bash event at Zigly stores on 17th Sep to celebrate with pets and pet parents. Along with this, Zigly will distribute close to 5,000 reflective collars across India for street dogs as part of the ‘Sparkle for Strays’ campaign.

Sharing his thoughts on the same, Mr Ashok Jaipuria, Chairman and Managing Director, Cosmo First said, “Zigly aims to reshape the pet care landscape by creating an ecosystem. As there’s a demand for quality care and guidance from pet parents, we are taking a focused step forward by expanding Zigly’s footprint into these Tier II cities where this need is still developing. By offering a comprehensive range of services and products tailored towards this clientele, we want to create a space for happy pets.”

As per Decipher Market Research Agency, India’s pet care market is rapidly expanding at a rate of 16.5% and is projected to reach $1,932.6 million by 2030. Aligning with this positive market trend, Zigly has solidified its position as a comprehensive 360-degree pet care ecosystem, boasting 18 experience centres spanning India. These centres are strategically located to ensure convenient access for pet parents in search of top-tier care for their beloved furry companions.

Sharing his thoughts on the same, Mr. Pankaj Poddar, Group CEO, Cosmo First said, “As we celebrate our second anniversary, Zigly proudly extends its footprint into the heart of Tier II cities where more and more families are embracing pets as part of their lives. However, as this trend gains momentum, the need for quality pet care becomes increasingly evident. At Zigly, we recognize the significance of this change, and our expansion into Tier-2 cities is a strategic move to serve the untapped gap. Reports state that many Tier 2 and 3 cities have an average cart value close to Tier 1 cities. With this, we foresee our customer base to multiply in the coming months and help us fast track our goal of achieving a monthly GMV of INR 5 Crores from the ecosystem we built.”

Additionally, Zigly has a specially designed clothing line for dogs, cats, and other pets. The center also has a dedicated section for pet services including veterinary and diagnostics services, grooming, spa, and salon, ensuring that your pets not only feel but also look their best. The brand is also renowned for hosting spectacular launch parties where pets and their parents revel in a gala time together. With captivating pet photography and exciting games, these events are a true celebration of the special bond between pets and their families.
