Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) organized its Second Ash User Meet 2026 at Ranchi on July 18, 2026, under the theme “A Resilient Journey of Transformation from Waste to Wealth.” Welcomed by CEO Shri A. K. Sehgal and CGM (O&amp;M) Shri Manish Khetrapal, the event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and ash users. Highlighting fly ash as a key resource for sustainable infrastructure, CEO Shri A. K. Sehgal outlined PVUNL&#8217;s eco-friendly initiatives, including dry bottom ash handling, water-conserving Air-Cooled Condenser (ACC) technology, rare earth mineral research, and skill training for Self-Help Groups to produce fly ash products.</p>
<p>The prominent  dignitaries, including Shri Aboobacker Siddique P. (IAS, Secretary, Govt. of Jharkhand) and Shri V. Suresh (Chairman, NBC), were joined by representatives from HUDCO, CPWD, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, CSIR-CIMFR, and Indian Railways. To mark the occasion, a souvenir on sustainable ash utilization was released, and delegates received eco-friendly fly ash mementos. Technical sessions explored scientific innovations, sustainable construction, and carbon market opportunities, concluding with a shared commitment to turn industrial waste into valuable wealth through technology and strategic collaboration.</p>

Developed by Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC, this critical addition marks the completion of the second of three planned 800 MW supercritical units at the facility, substantially bolstering regional grid stability and power availability. With this successful commissioning, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has scaled a new peak of 90,857 MW, while its overall commercial generation capacity climbs to 89,777 MW, further cementing the energy giant&#8217;s pivotal role in meeting the nation&#8217;s rising electricity demand.</p>

health and education were also underscored as shared priorities, along with the<br />
State Government’s continued support for infrastructure development, shared value<br />
creation, and sustainable, inclusive growth in Jharkhand.<br />
Recently, a review meeting was held with the Chief Minister, Shri Hemant Soren Ji,<br />
to assess the progress of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL). During<br />
the meeting, appreciation was conveyed for the State Government’s consistent<br />

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Shri Ashok Kumar Sehgal has assumed the charge as the Chief Executive Officer of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) on July 6, 2025. PVUNL, a joint venture between NTPC and Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL), is dedicated to establishing a state-of-the-art 4000 MW thermal power plant in Jharkhand. The first phase, comprising 2400 MW through three 800 MW units, is progressing rapidly towards completion, with Shri Sehgal’s leadership expected to accelerate this development.</p>
<p>Bringing over 35 years of extensive experience with NTPC, Shri Sehgal has held key roles across operations, maintenance, turbine technology, and project management. His previous tenure as Business Unit Head at Talcher Kaniha saw significant milestones, establishing the station as a leading power plant within NTPC. His academic credentials include a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, an M.Tech in Power Engineering from IIT Delhi, and management training from IIM Bangalore and Silicon Valley, USA.</p>
<p>With a strong blend of technical expertise and strategic vision, Shri Sehgal is well-positioned to guide PVUNL through its crucial phases of development. His leadership is anticipated to enhance project execution, bolster Jharkhand’s energy infrastructure, and ensure the timely completion of the ambitious 3&#215;800 MW thermal power project. Known for his calm demeanour and sound decision-making, Shri Sehgal&#8217;s appointment marks a significant step toward strengthening the state’s power sector.</p>
