Ashok Sehgal Honoured with DAKSH Leadership Award

Ashok Sehgal, CEO of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) and Executive Director of NTPC India, has been honoured with the Award for Excellence in Cross Organizational Engagement under the prestigious DAKSH Leadership programme. The national initiative brought together 73 senior leaders from over 20 major PSUs across India. As part of the curriculum, Sehgal collaborated with dynamic leaders from GAIL, ONGC, SAIL, and OIL on a cross-PSU Live Action Learning Project titled “Strengthening Safety Monitoring Systems in Plants,” which successfully secured the Second Runner-Up position. The transformative program was conceptualized and delivered by SCOPE, the Capacity Building Commission, IIM Ahmedabad, and McKinsey & Company.

The award-winning project demonstrated the strong potential of AI-based tools and digital technologies in transforming traditional safety frameworks into proactive, predictive, and intelligent monitoring systems. These practical, scalable, and industry-relevant solutions serve as a key enabler in achieving the ultimate vision of Zero Harm in industries. Expressing deep gratitude to the entire PVUNL team and his project collaborators, Sehgal emphasized his commitment to accelerating the modernization of industrial safety practices, helping build a future-ready Indian industry aligned with the national aspiration of becoming Viksit Bharat @2047.

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited and Oil India Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding at India Energy Week 2026 in Goa to explore opportunities for collaboration in oil and gas exploration. The agreement, signed by senior officials of both companies, provides a framework for technical cooperation and evaluation of joint participation in exploration activities, particularly under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy Round X and future bid rounds across Indian sedimentary basins. Officials said the partnership will combine the expertise of both PSUs to improve exploration efficiency and contribute to strengthening India’s energy security.

The agreement was formally inked by Shri Dinesh Singh, Chief General Manager (Geology), ONGC, and Shri D. S. Manral, Executive Director (E&D), OIL.

Govt Extends ONGC Chief’s Tenure

NEW DELHI. The Government of India has granted a one-year extension to ONGC Chairman Arun Kumar Singh, extending his term until December 6, 2026. The decision comes just a week before the completion of his current three-year tenure. Shri Singh, a former BPCL CMD and seasoned energy sector professional, was originally appointed under relaxed age norms—an unusual move for the leadership of a major public sector enterprise.

Alongside the extension, the government has initiated the process to find his long-term successor. A three-member Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) has been constituted, headed by PESB Chairperson Mallika Srinivasan. Newly appointed Petroleum Secretary Neeraj Mittal will serve as a member, while former IOCL Chairman B. Ashok has been included as an outside expert of eminence.
